When I walked in I instantly loved seeing all the fresh baked goods that were made in-house. I got a Vanilla latte with soy milk and it was delicious! I also loved the shortbread cookie which really tasted homemade. We shared a chocolate chip cookie and berry crumble bar and both were yummy. The service was good and friendly and venue had a warm country vibe to it. It's also dog friendly inside. We enjoyed sitting inside and enjoying our snacks.

It's a very unique partnership business model between the cafe and bakery and both are wonderful and have super friendly staff. You cannot go into this place without buying a cookie they're huge and made freshly every day and have that perfect, soft, gooey interior. My other favourite part of this place is all the quirky small businesses that have displays inside. Definitely a great place to stop by if you're in the area.

Cork & Bean Oshawa chose to call the police on a peaceful, paying customer for wearing pro-Israel…read moresymbols and having a calm conversation. Let that sink in. My friend -- a Christian, not even Jewish -- was meeting with a pastor for coffee. He was wearing an IDF jacket and a Star of David necklace while discussing a recent trip to Israel. No shouting. No confrontation. No disruption. Just coffee and conversation. An employee called Durham Regional Police. Officers showed up and told him his conversation was "offensive." When asked what was said that violated policy, no one could answer. No rule cited. No clear complaint identified. Just vague discomfort -- and removal. So what exactly triggered this escalation? Not behavior. Not threats. Not harassment. Symbols. And Israel. Calling the police on someone because others don't like what he's wearing or the country he's discussing is cowardly and discriminatory. Businesses don't get to selectively silence viewpoints they don't agree with. And weaponizing law enforcement to remove someone over perceived "offense" is an outrageous abuse of discretion. If Cork & Bean believes visible support for Israel warrants police involvement, they should say that publicly. If they don't, then they owe an immediate explanation and apology. Until management addresses this directly and transparently, this establishment does not deserve community support. Do better.

I've heard a lot of positives about Tim Horton's, so when in Canada, I decided to check it out…read more I walked in and was warmly greeted with a hello by the cashier. Quickly after that, I decided to order two donuts. A chocolate mint and a vanilla dip with sprinkles. My biggest concern was with paying for the donuts. They were pretty inexpensive at $2, but when I asked if they preferred USD or Canadian dollars the cashier started talking down to me. I thought it was a bit rude. Eventually, I ate my two donuts. They were not bad, but I would not refer to them as great. The mint chocolate donut tasted a bit bland while the vanilla dip was covered in sprinkles resulting in it tasting hard. Another one of my concerns here was the mess. The donut display was a bit disorganized and one of the tables were covered in crumbs. This specific Tim Horton's location is connected to a Wendy's and also has a drive through. However, it had a long line. Altogether, I was a bit disappointed with Tim Horton's especially compared to what I have heard.

And then you can't help but notice maybe every 500-feet there's a Tim Horton's. 'Ubiquitous' isn't even a good enough word for just how many you'll pass. It might not even be possible to venture into Canada and not hit one at some point. This specific location was absolutely bananas - it was pretty small (attached at the hip with a Wendy's) - and I don't think I ever saw so many workers crammed into such a small space and all of them were working their tails off. Friendly service, good coffee, but their version of Dunkin's munchkins were too sweet for me. (But at ten for a Canadian dollar - how could you go wrong?!)

We went on a Saturday evening on an off season weekend as it was the only place in the area with dairy free soft serve. For non-dairy, it's incredible! It's the closest all of us have seen to soft serve. The regular ice cream flavours are also unique (I was there for the dole whip but saw apple pie, cinnamon bun and a few others). Portions are large, a kiddie cup/cone size was sufficient for most of us and price point was extremely reasonable. Not a lot of room inside but there's a nice sitting area on the patio that allows you to relax with your dole whip as well as a game for the kids. Only concern is that it's really close to the parking lot so we had to keep a very close eye on kids who might dart into traffic. However, I would definitely say this is a must try for anyone looking for an instagrammable picture or a fun place to visit on a hot day!
