The food and dessert are amazing. Your drinks are good depending on who is working, and making them. However, the last time my husband and I went in there to order drinks to go, before we even ordered the barista looked at us and rudely said, "We close in 26 minutes!" Okay, I get that you wanna go home, and you have a life to get to, but we ordered our drinks to go. I've worked customer service jobs before, and this was very unprofessional. Ice cold coffee on a sun soaked patio on a weekend afternoon is really quite nice. Especially when pastries are involved - carrot cake, zucchini cake, asparagus quiche (Walla Walla onions!) - and friendly service! This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the entire town. This is mine and my mom's number one hang out spot same with my friends. The minute you walk in you smell freshly brewed coffee and it feels like home. They have a bunch of choices food and drink wise, they have couches and chairs in corners and a window seat to where you can see right to the street. And comes winter time and it's snowing it's absolutely gorgeous. 100% would recommend! read more

I've been going to Coffee Perk for years and they are a big hangout for various groups like Whitman students and retirees. They are community oriented and host a number of local artists in their shop. Fair amount of tables and comfy seating with good service and a variety of snacks. They used to serve decent lunches but stopped that a while back. Now they have a selection of home made sweets, some pea salads, quiches and croissant sandwiches. I'm a tea person and so can't comment on their coffees though they look pretty good and lots of people come in to order them. Their tea selection is pretty good though they don't use loose leaf only packaged/bagged teas. Really a great place to chill out in Walla Walla. read more

It's a love hate relationship with this shop. I really enjoy the atmosphere for reading or homework, however it usually smells and the baristas tend to be a bit rude. It is the only place in town with bubble tea, so it's worth it for that at times. Just know there are many other really good coffee shops in town. read more

I was in town for a couple of days and was excited to stop into local businesses to have great experiences and support the local economy. This coffee shop js right behind Starbucks and I opted for it since Starbucks doesnt need any help paying thie rent. The pastries were very yummy looking. Appeared fresh and lots of options. I deckded to try one of the special drinks from their list and it was honestly one of the worst drinks I have had. I feel like it was more the flavor combination than the product itself so I feel like I would go back and try something less adventurous. There is free wifi and I had planned on hanging out and working but there isnt a lot of seating so I just left sjnce all the tables had someone at them. There was also a homeless man (I assume) sleeping on the ground just ouside of their shop so that was a little bit weird. read more

This weekend is my fourth trip to Walla Walla. The past two times I have had my espressos here. Espressos here are as good as anywhere I have ever had espressos. And I have had espressos in France, Spain, and Italy. The pastry is good too. If you are into espresso drinks for the great flavor, this is the spot. I like that they also have outside seating. I've not been into the Coffee Perk since the remodel, and finally stopped in today.  I was very disappointed.  The warm, cozy, gathering place has been replaced by a cold, sterile environment with white walls and bright lights.  There's nothing in the establishment that makes me want to stay and linger over, perhaps, a second cup of coffee.  Additionally, at 07:30 in the morning, the pastry case seemed to offer a lot of cookies, brownies & cheesecake, with minimal offerings of muffins (none) scones, or other breakfast pastries.  My husband and I had slices of coffee cake which seemed very dry.  And, although we ordered our items "for here" his coffee came in a paper cup.  I used to love stopping in the Coffee Perk, but will go elsewhere now. read more

I love that I can stay here for hours and hours and not feel rushed out, but at the same time the staff (with few exceptions) no longer lives up to its old habit of making customers feel welcome. Part of what's nice about local coffee joints is banter and warmth, and as someone who was a regular for months and months I still don't really feel that here. The lattes are really hit or miss-- sometimes exceptional and smooth, sometimes burned and barely palatable. I adjust what I order based on my confidence in the different barristas, but it'd be nice to be able to order whatever I'm wanting from the menu without having to assess who makes what which what level of skill. But the desserts they have available are good and cheap. One of my favorites is the "Royal Cookie" made down the street at Clarette's Diner. It's nice to come and study here (if you can find a spot), but the crowds are no fun-- particularly the rowdy few who always seem to come in and chat up barristas on Friday nights. Great hours, though-- I can reliably go to the Perk to study any night of the week. Go if you need a fix, but it's not a must-see by any means. read more

Charleen T is right about the crowd Coffee Perk sometimes attracts. AA/NA people. Here's my take. Though those folks often get boisterous, and from not being able NOT to hear what they are saying....I guess AA/NA isn't really annonymous, but it doesn't bother me. I'd much rather see a group of friends together, supporting each other in sobriety, than hanging out in a bar, driving drunk. Coffee Perk has consistantly good coffee/espresso drinks. Really good Italian sodas too. I do love the fireplace. Starbucks is Starbucks. Snooty kids that think they are Paris or Perez Hilton as workers. (So nice to be served by a minimum wage snot) I haven't tried any food there. When I'm downtown, either shopping or running errands, I love stopping by Coffee Perk for a little rest. I really need to gather all my little punch cards together. I'm pretty sure I have at least a couple free drinks by now. read more

Hmmm...I'm not sure why the low score. I love this place. They are friendly, make fantastic coffee. It's great everytime. They are cheaper than starbucks, with free Wifi, more seating than starbucks. Great coffee shop, always packed with an eclectic mix of students, locals, farmers, and the odd tourist or two. Homemade pastries are a great addition, but the independent coffee styles are what's great. Not too bitter and very fresh, plus a decor that reminds me of the edgy and original walla walla style rather than polished look the town seems to be trying for (unfortunately) now. Stumbled on this place when looking for coffee and a light bite with a friend when in town for wine tasting this past weekend. We had gone to the Marcus Whitman but discovered they only had a HUGE buffet on Sunday...not what we were looking for this time. What a happy accident! Greeted by super friendly staff and an array of baked goods that made a decision nearly impossible. (Decided on the pumpkin coffee cake and was not disappointed!) Ordered a simple Americano and was treated to one of the best cups I have ever had. Quintessential coffee house ambiance completed the experience. OK...full disclosure...I do not drink coffee. I know, I know. Coffee Perk is my favorite coffee shop in town. It's low-key with comfy couches and tables with chairs in different configurations. Great hot chocolate and they'll make a special one for the little kids in your life - making sure it's warm, not hot. Italian sodas are good too. Coffee shops tend to get reviewed for their coffee. But Coffee Perk has another asset - their food! An impressive assortment of goodies is in the display case for such a small shop. Baking is done off-site but very fresh. The peanut butter brownie is to die for! Lemon bars are divine. There is a small but delicious assortment of salads, sandwiches, and soup. Great place to stop for lunch and decent prices. Walk on by Starbucks and support a delicious local business! read more

For the coffee snobs out there....I am not very impressed with the coffee. Atmosphere is great, friendly baristas. But I don't think they really know what they are doing. I ordered a macchiato and they gave me a poorly done cappuccino. The espresso is not good. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I also tried an iced americano and an iced cold brew. Was not satisfied. Again, good atmosphere and hang out place for getting average coffee, but I don't recommend it if you're looking for good coffee/espresso. read more
