However, four times in the last year I have been called within an hour of my appointment only to be told at the stylist wouldn't be able to make it in, and they would need to reschedule, and they would not be able to accommodate for a cut that day. I understand that people have personal lives, and once or twice if someone can't make it in, I certainly understand. But four times is a trend that I just can no longer ignore. Again, the service is fine, but if you rely, like I do, on being able to count on a haircut at a certain time, then I'm afraid that they may fall short. If you can afford to be a little more flexible with your time this might not be an issue, but just take it under consideration. Now I'm off to Sport Clips. Wish me luck.

Not only did they take their time with me, but even stayed after hours. They seem to be in no rush! Love the service already. Also, very reasonable priced! Not an arm or a leg ! I feel like a lot of American hairstylist doesn't really know how to deal with Asian hair. Since it's so dark. So I feel like Hong Kong hair salon is definitely catered to more Asian hairs. The salon is located in a plaza with a private parking lot that offers plenty of spaces, shared with a few other businesses. I'd recommend coming early when the salon opens or visiting on a weekday morning to avoid long waits. Even with an appointment around noon on a Saturday, my wait time was about 45 minutes. Weekends can get quite busy! Ben's technique is exceptional. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire process -- from the hair wash to the blow-dry finish. There are two other stylists (both male) who also do excellent work with both women's and men's hair. While waiting for my stylist, another stylist told me the groupon was created because my stylist needed to practice doing women's hair again since she had worked at a barber shop for years. Even if this is the reason, I don't like knowing that I'm "practice". My highlights were shocking and took me some time to get used to. I did have to have a friend cut stray hairs because the cut wasn't even...but that's minor. All in all, my hair turned out lovely and as time went on, I began to really love it. What really upset me? It's not good when the stylist says "oops I may have gotten some on your clothes". At the time I brushed it off and hoped she hadn't. Two of my favorite shirts that I wore that day (cami and cardigan) have bleach spots on them. One of the shirts can be dyed but the other can not. :( There were other things about the experience that were unprofessional but I was OK with them at the time. Kind of unforeseen events and, as I said, the stylist was so sweet. Maybe I just had a weird experience. The salon itself was adorable and all the stylists are independent and rent their booths.

They welcomed me with southern hospitality! My hairdresser treated me with impeccable service she even gave me a relaxing head and neck massage which is a must have! I felt as if I were at the spa. They use Paul Mitchell products too. My hairdresser gave me recommendations on my hair and did a very nice job. I felt so comfortable with her that I felt as if I knew her forever. I've been getting my hair washed and blow dried at other salons with no issues. Wash. Blow dry. Simple. However, this salon, specifically Jessica, took what was a simple task and turned it into more work for me. First of all, Jessica was unprepared - stated that she didn't have her stuff at the salon. First red flag. Secondly, she proceeded to blow dry my hair with a regular brush and a blow dryer. I asked her to please use a round brush and she stated she was just trying to get my hair dry before she used the round brush. And then, proceeded to use the round brush in the same exact way she was using the regular brush to blow dry my hair. Second red flag. As she's working I can feel that heavy dread in my chest of "this woman has no idea what she's doing". I am Indian and after she finished "blow drying" my hair - I looked like I had an afro, LOL. I told her I wasn't happy with how my hair turned out and I said I am not going out looking like this. I then asked if I could use their blow dryer to go ahead and fix my hair. I use some serum or smoothing cream they had at the salon, a round brush, and their blow dryer to fix my hair. When I stated that this is what a blow dry should look like her response was "Well, if I had known that's what you wanted I would've told you I can't do it or don't have time to do it" and then went on to tell me that if I wanted it done that way it would have cost $50. An extra $25 for something she should've been doing in the first place. Then with an insincere and sarcastic tone said "Oh well sorry about that" as she moved onto her next client who mind you, is a white woman. Lastly, when I told her we are gonna have to negotiate the price of this wash and blow dry since I had to do some of the work she refused. I said ya know what I'm gonna give her the $25 for wash and blow dry but I did NOT leave a tip. I could be wrong but, I think she was just upset that she was washing and blow drying a brown woman's hair because she had no problem at all moving on to her next client who was a white woman while I stood there and fixed her mess up. If you decide to come to this salon, DO NOT count on them to tell what you need to know or ask you anything to gain clarity on what you need/want. SPELL IT OUT FOR THEM because they have clearly had a slow life.

Ardent Salon is one of the few places that carries Euphora color in the Memphis area…read more Euphora color is extraordinary for shades of chestnuts, blondes, and browns - Euphora is probably the best on the market for those colors. My experience with the Aveda salon color system for those shades resulted in mostly colorless shades of bleached bone or platinum, while Euphora provides rich natural honeyed tones. Euphora toner manages to adhere color to my hair (which is very fine and very straight). My experience at Gould's Salon was the color did not adhere to my hair but washed out with the first rinse at the salon. If you've had similar experiences at other salons, try Ardent - you will get vastly superior results. Ardent's staff is friendly. The interior decoration is peaceful and provides privacy while the service is going on.
