Great food, Great prices! [Sacramento CA] Whenever our friend Vince finds a new restaurant that's worth visiting he shares and invites us to try it out with him. Tonight we did just that and the four of us had dinner here at Cocula in an area in Sacramento that I wasn't familiar with. It was quite a distance from Roseville especially with traffic but we wanted to check it out. There is ample parking shared with a barber shop next door. Menu was small and simple for now as they are new. Hubby and I ordered enchiladas, optional topping like rice, beans, Guac and sour cream... and even the enchilada sauce were not present (I always thought they were included with the meal). I was confused, instead it was topped with curtido, lettuce, cheese and potato but nonetheless they were very good. I had two pieces. I also ordered an asada super burrito to take home for my daughter. We shared it, it had lots of tasty flavors and we both enjoyed it. The dining room is clean with tables that could seat up to four guests and two tables that could accommodate up to a party of eight. We enjoyed the salsa bar located on one corner of the dining room. Lots of salsa option One gender-neutral bathroom. Friendly customer service! Review #3748

I've seen this restaurant after driving by a few times. It's located right off of fruitridge by the Idle Hour bar. They have signs up on weekends when they serve grilled chicken. Parking was full, but there's is a good amount and I was able to find parking next to the restaurant. Inside looked clean and has plenty of seating. Customer service was great and friendly. I had questions and the gentleman taking my order answered all questions. They have a salsa bar with tortilla chips. I ordered the steak (asada) quesadilla and a chicken gordita. It was a good amount of food. I couldn't finish the quesadilla. I also ordered a horchata. Got everything to go BTW. Everything tasted great. I will definitely be back to try their other items. Everything is a decent price as well.

Ain't no doubt that this spot has the BEST tacos in Sacramento, and it's not even close. Yessi helped at the register, then she went back in the kitchen to do her thing and made the food by herself. After eating, I never wanted to add someone to my Christmas card list so quickly. I'm shook. About the food: carnitas tacos were the best I've ever had - fresh housemade corn tortillas, and the carnitas were moist but had a nice crunch as well. This was interesting, and I couldn't get enough. Also had the carne asada tacos, which were great, and the quesabirria - still thinking about both and it's been a few hours. I hope this spot stays open forever and that they treat Yessi well so she can keep the magic going. Will be back.

I've visited Cocula several times. It's a small restaurant with a homey vibe, lovely staff, and the food is fantastic. Their chips always taste great. The corn tortillas that come with their meals are made fresh and expertly handmade. They have an extensive serve-yourself condiment bar with grilled onions and a variety of salsas. The enchiladas, sopes, and carne asada I've ordered in the past have all been great, but I think pollo asado on the weekends is special. For the single chicken meal, you get a full-length half-chicken (1 breast and wing, thigh, and drum) perfectly cooked on the grill out front, with pico de gallo, rice, refried beans, and tortillas. The chicken has slight char from the gill, is flavorful, and pull-apart tender. The single meal offers superb value for the amount of food. You can also order a family meal, which includes the whole chicken and double the sides, all at a discounted price. Cocula's pollo asado, served on the weekends, is a must-try if you're a fan of Mexican food and BBQ. You will be glad you stopped by this Sacramento hidden gem.

A friend recommended this restaurant, and I'm so glad they did! The menu is simple but full of delicious Mexican dishes. The food is flavorful, the service is warm and friendly, and the dining room is comfortable, bright with sunlight during the day and nicely lit in the evening. My favorite part is the salsa bar with plenty of options to load onto an already tasty meal. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to!

It's a new business, so I was wondering if all the 5 star reviews were family and friends. Anyway I went to try it. I got 2 tacos, which were just ok. The chicharron was not fried or crispy whatsoever. The pork pieces were flavorless gelatin like very soft gummy bear texture. I think the tortillas were freshly made there though, which was nice. I also got a super asada burrito. I screwed up and forgot to ask if they have whole beans, they gave me refried. I love refried beans, but never in a burrito, that mushy mouth feel, no thanks. And the tortilla was burned. I hate when they grill the tortilla. Even Taco Bell does that crap now. It tasted burnt AF. De todos modos, no es bueno para me.

Chicken taco, asada taco

Food was fresh, tortillas are homemade, salsas were so good!! Service was friendly, like a mama and papa shop. Totally felt welcomed and a traditional Mexican experience.

I was at Cocula Restaurant a couple of weeks ago for dinner with a few friends. I had a delicious meal and received excellent customer service from the employees and the restaurant's owners. The dining room is comfortable, and they have a big parking lot next to the building shared with one more business. Parking is easy. I have my car parked next to the front door.

This is REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food! I'm from Mexico so I know what I'm talking about, it's home cooking at its best. Also their prices are super affordable, the salsa bar is delicious with a big variety of salsas. Very friendly folks running this place, I go twice a week but honestly I would go everyday if I could.

Chile Rellenos - homemade sauce- the real deal beans and rice too.

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we could've gone anywhere, but I was craving Mexican Food, and wanted the best on our day. The restaurant is on the rustic side and unpretentious, but the food? Pure, authentic Cocula, Jalisco flavor, and homemade corn and flour tortillas. Absolutely delicious.

I found this restaurant after searching Yelp for best Mexican restaurants in Sacramento and this place was first and I can tell why! Real authentic Mexican food that makes you feel like you're eating in Mexico. Great affordable prices, loved the salsa bar with fresh tortillas chips and plenty of salsas to choose from.

You're greeted with a fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and an energy that makes you excited to be there. Since the restaurant was especially busy, we chose to sit at the bar. There was no wait, and the high-top seating was surprisingly comfortable. Our server was welcoming and attentive, and the service was fast from start to finish. Between the great music and lively atmosphere, you can't help but want to dance while you eat! I ordered one of my favorites--the chicken sope. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while still soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicken was packed with flavor, and the rice and beans were just as delicious. The salsa that came with it was the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right amount of spice and an extra kick of flavor. My hubby ordered one of the carne asada dishes (so sorry, I forgot the name!). He said it was one of the best cuts of meat he's had at a Mexican restaurant in a long time--super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We had such a fun night! I definitely recommend Rosa Madera--10/10 for a date night, girls' night, or any excuse to enjoy great food and an even better atmosphere.

The food was phenomenal, and the service once we arrived was friendly and attentive. The inside is sooo cute! I absolutely loved the decor. Everything is decorated so uniquely, and it makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and perfect for celebrating with friends and family. The only downside was that it was difficult to get in contact with the restaurant beforehand. I tried calling several times to make a reservation, but no one answered, and one call was even disconnected. Their website also only allows reservations for up to four people, even though they clearly accommodate larger celebrations for friends and families. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and in person service were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back!

Complimentary corn tortilla chips, salsa, and refried bean dip with cheese. I loved the REFRIED BEAN DIP! I ordered the Steak a la Chicana. I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. It's located on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights near See's Candies and other restaurants.

I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food! I highly recommend the Al pastor as your protein choice and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

They didn't just walk by like frazzled, hurried workers like most restaurants pushing through the crowds. They actually gave me a nice smile and said welcome, and then walked by. And then I got to the reception area found that there was already a pretty big crowd at around the 5:30 PM or so I guess a lot of early birds come to eat there on Sunday. The receptionist asked for how many and said you'd be like a 20 minute wait and there was chairs where people were waiting but it was only like a 15 minute wait. The server was fast with the chips and salsa and ice water and then soon the waiter came and took my order. He was really quick and witty, fun to talk to. What I really enjoyed was as the noise of the table Near quieted down and they left. I saw a young man cleaning up the table and getting it ready for the next group of people. He was dressed really nice and had a tie on. Having been in restaurants most of my life I said to myself, I bet you he works with the owners or something. And I said to him, are your related to people that own the place ? he said my parents own this place. He was very friendly and polite. He told me a tiny bit about the restaurant and how everything had been since 1970, much older than he was, he was only a sophomore in high school I think. I never really got his name, but I was kind of proud of him because he was working hard at his family's restaurant. I ordered probably something bigger than I could eat because I had to take leftovers home, but it was really a tasty meal, and they're coming out with more chips and salsa without being asked, probably didn't help as well as a second lemonade. It's really impressive when you have a well oiled machine and it appeared to me that the people that worked there seem to be happy so that's always a good sign of good management. Several years back, I worked in the restaurant industry doing maintenance and repairs so I went to a lot of different restaurants and saw a lot of things so I know what to look for. I'm definitely gonna come back when my brother and his wife come up from the Bay Area my friend Ivan he'll wanna go there for lunch or dinner I know. He's kind of a picky eater and was born in Mexico, but I think he'll be impressed with this place.
