Noodle & Bun is located in the downtown Gaslamp district of San Diego. They have really good…read moreChinese beef noodle soup and Shanghai juicy dumplings.Their noodle options include hand pulled noodles, knife-shaved noodles, and wide noodles, which you can see them make at the restaurant through a large window. We ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup with hand pulled noodles and Shanghai Juicy Dumplings (xlbs). The fresh noodles had good texture and the beef and broth tasted really good. We really enjoyed the beef noodle soup. The xlbs were really good as well. You get eight pieces in an order for $11.99. They had all the right sauces to go with the soup dumplings. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and casual. Great place in downtown San Diego for Chinese beef noodle soup and Shanghai soup dumplings.

As a Taiwanese American who's been living in the downtown area for the past 4+ years, I'm so happy…read morethat we FINALLY have a legit Chinese restaurant in this area! The food is delicious and I love that they serve staples like beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, and dan dan noodles - not just your standard Chinese-American fare to appease American palettes. Their juicy dumplings rival Din Tai Fung's and every new menu item I try is so, so good. They also make their hand-pulled noodles in house and you can definitely taste the quality. The service is great, everyone that works there is friendly and remembered me and my husband after our first visit. I saw another reviewer leave 2 stars, and while everyone is entitled to their own opinion and tastes, I was a bit confused by some of the points she made. Like the portions were bigger than expected - so more value for your money is bad?? And mentioning that the "ball of pork" inside a pork dumpling fell out while eating it - has this person never eaten a pork dumpling or food before?? I personally also find it irrelevant to criticize the decor and factor that into the overall rating. Like the place doesn't have enough artwork up?? This isn't a fine dining restaurant where you pay for the ambience. As long as the place is clean (and it is) I don't care. I'm not here for aesthetic IG pics, I'm here for good food. Often new restaurants (especially if it's a smaller, immigrant run business) cannot prioritize investing tons of money into the interior design for it to look like Animae - plus the current design is okay (and I say this as both a designer and child of immigrants). My point is, if you want delicious, authentic Chinese food in this area, you'll find it here. Downtown SD/Gaslamp is a tough market for restauranteurs and the turnover rate is high. If you like the place, keep going back and leave reviews so that we can keep them here.

The Al Pastor was on another level--perfectly marinated, juicy, and packed with that classic sweet and savory flavor you want from a top-tier taqueria. The meat had just the right crisp on the edges, and every bite was balanced with fresh toppings and warm tortillas. Honestly, they're the kind of tacos you think about long after you leave. The ambience is very well kept with rhe manager being hype as well and cheering on my group over the speaker!! Service was fast and efficient even with the crowd, and the whole experience felt authentic and dialed in. If you're anywhere near the area, this spot alone is worth the trip.

We lucked out by arriving without much of a line and snagged a table outside, perfect for a bit of classic people-watching. The space itself is inviting and open, with great indoor seating as well as both front and back patios that give you plenty of options to settle in and stay awhile. Naturally, we had to sample a range: suadero, adobada, and lengua. No taco outing feels complete without drinks, so we paired everything with a cold beer and a refreshing horchata. On the recommendation of hah the staff, we added queso to all the tacos a decision we fully stand behind. The lengua and suadero were standouts, rich and flavorful with every bite. On a bright, sunny San Diego day, it was exactly the kind of laid-back, delicious experience you hope for. A perfect addition to any taco tour. The one down fall is unless your already galavanting downtown parking can be difficult.
