We found this place via Qype and despite only having 1 review, we felt compelled to give it a go…read more It currently has no front signage ( local councillors debating the price of coffee in the canteen instead of granting this poor bloke planning permission for a sign) so I will point out it is OPPOSITE the main POST OFFICE in Leamington spa. We used Spicy affair as a stop over for food on the way back from Thorpe park and I'm glad we took the small detour off the M40. What a great place. All the food is freshly prepared and whilst this may take slightly longer, it is well worth the wait. At the point of ordering, we were given the option of strength /flavour and spice..something you simply cannot do when using a base dish in a pan. Needless to say the food was stunning, good portion sizes and very attentive staff. We had the Tikka Masala( teenagers :) ) Chicken Nawabi and Dal Taaka( lentils). All good consistency and polished off quickly. The Naan Bread was light and not doughy as can happen in so many Indian restaurants. It wasn't as busy as I would have thought on a friday night but if justice has anything to do with it then it will succeed. Councillors sort your life out. Readers walk past the other Indian's on this street and venture in here. We live in Leeds and have our fair share of quality gaffs up here, none surpass this though.

I went to this place by chance on 14 Oct 2010 and came to know that they had just opened. The place…read moreis quite contemporary and in fact still some work was left to be completed. The room temperature was just nice!!! I thought to mention this as most of the Indian places I have visted before used to be very cold. I ordered Chicken Tikka for the starters and Chicken Madras for the mains. I must admit that the both the item were cooked very well and to my taste. I have been to number of Indian Restaurant as I love my curry but what they offered was just completly out of the world. Will surely go there again and again... will strongly recommend!!! I have given them 4* as the place was still getting ready and the music was not there. Food was superb!!!

I had a last minute call from my Brother last night saying that he was going to Akbars and did I…read morewant to go.....obviously with the temptation of a restaurant I haven't tried before I couldn't resist.....30 minutes later was being picked up to go and see what it was all about. The restaurant itself is on the Hagley Road just a little bit up from Five Ways in a large white building. You walk in and are instantly hit by the grandeur of the place with marble, statues and artwork all over the restaurant and reception areas. We needed to wait for a table so were given a buzzer and were invited to take a seat at the bar. We were quickly seated and shown the food menus after about 10 minutes.....when you don't ave a reservation I think thats pretty good! The food is very much what you would expect from a curry house with a huge list of classic curry dishes and starters. We went for popadoms and dips to start....I then went for chicken pakora and shish kebabs as my main.....I had already eaten before I left the house so was just being greedy at this point....this was my attempt at having something healthier haha. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious and the prices were really reasonable! Both starters were only around £3.50 a plate and were a good size portion! I was going to be super harsh and give this place four stars due to a slightly dirty menu and the fact the tables are pretty close together but can you really mark somewhere down for being busy and popular? The staff here cannot do enough for you and I think its a great touch that the chefs bring out the food! If you want a curry....at a reasonable price.....in an interesting setting...why not give this place a go.

We're very patient and tolerant with my relatives. I couldn't have asked for a better place. The decor and overall setting is very pleasant and gives a more relaxed intimate feel perfect for small parties.
