I believe there is an upstairs dining room as well, but I haven't been sat up there yet. I have tried a few Indian restaurants since moving to Brum and Imlees is the only one I really like. I've dined here 3 times now and we are always greeted at the door. The restaurant is not licensed so you can take in your own beer/wine/etc. Across the street are two shops in case you get thirsty and forget to bring your own. The menu seems to have a good variety; lots of starters to choose from and a page and a half of mains. The poppadoms always taste fresh. There are 3 different dips served with the poppadoms. There is an onion chutney, a spicy red dip, and a mint dip. I'm still new to Indian food so I'm not the best with my descriptions. For this visit, I tried chicken tikka for a starter and Bagaara chicken for a main. The chicken dishes were both flavourful! The Bagaara was a tad too spicy for me. I usually choose Butter chicken (which is fantastic) but decided to be a bit more adventurous this visit. In between the starter and main you are served sorbet to cleanse the palate. We also had some delicious naan and pilau rice. As far as price, Imlees is quite affordable. It offers take out too if you aren't up for formal dining. Anyone finding themselves hungry in Moseley should give them a try!

I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to Indians in my area, so I was surprised to see Moseley…read morerestaurant owners were much more shrewd with their business strategy i.e. not opening an Indian restaurant in a 1km proximity to 5 other Indian restaurants. Anyway on first impressions it has a very luxurious facade which cajoled me in as though 3 wishes awaited me inside. It is a very slick restaurant and they do a very good job of representing this with their exterior, this impression was only supported by their staff who were incredibly attentive and friendly. Somehow it feels as though Imlees has been part of Moseley for years, it has a very established feeling to it and they seem to have acquired a very loyal customer base despite being one of the newer restaurants on the parade. The food was some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I had to compare their chicken korma with a my catalogue of previously consumed chicken kormas, and I must say I think it was the best one I've had. Imlees provides an impeccable dining experience, so be kind to yourself and go there.

I found the spice compliments the food perfectly rather than overpowering it. There are no soggy stewed vegetables here either, everything is cooked perfectly and retains colour and taste. The presentation is also excellent - they have gone for a modern Italian presentation style with many of the dishes. The service is great (plenty of staff). The decor is smart and the ambiance is relaxed, cosy and quite sophisticated. I really can't recommend this restaurant enough.

The food was excellent, there is not much I can add without describing each dish. What counts for me, did it taste delicious and it did. Glad I did not listen to the reviews and listed to my friend, excellent upscale location. Will be back for sure. Oh, I was eating vegetarian and the choices were excellent.

I've had good Indian food before, but this had to have been one of the most flavorful Indian (the Iranian inspiration?) I have ever eaten. I'm not sure any meal could top Dishoom. Friendly staff, fun ambience, incredible food. If I didn't live 3,000 miles away, I'd be back every week. Run. Do not walk. Dishoom is phenomenal.

Akram's is a "family run restaurant offering only the best in traditional Kashmiri cuisine." They have an extensive menu to chose from so everyone should find something to eat. There were about 10 of us at the table so we kind of broke off in to factions. The 5 at my end of the table decided to share a large naan. This wasn't as big as the legendary Birmingham table naans but as you can see it was still huge. Fresh flatbread stuffed with flavoursome spiced lamb mince. I could probably have eaten that on my own with a bit of sauce to dip it in. My friends around me started picking their mains while I was still making up my mind. I remembered what I'd been told by a friend of mine - "You can always recreate the sauced dishes at home but how many of us have a tandoor in our house?" With that, I chose the Akram's Tandoori Speciality, or Mixed Grill. It took a little longer for mine to come to the table than it did for the others but it was absolutely worth the wait. The plate was sizzling hot when it was put down in front of me. Not only was it hot, but it was also very spicy. I loved it. There was sheek kebab, tikka lamb and chicken and tandoori lamb chops and chicken. This was all sat on top of onions and peppers which soaked in the juices from the meat above it. I would not hesitate to order this again. Next time though, I'd make sure that there was some bread left by the time the dish got to the table!

Party of 14, in a private room, but noise from the adjacent room caused by the gap left between the wall and the window. Asked for the music to the room to be turned off due to my hearing aid picking up the noise. They accommodated. The staff were friendly and attentive. I can't say the what the meal cost in total, but I'd could hazard a guess excluding drinks would be about £500. This including 2 x President's platter at £79.95 each. Very nice, but I'd say overpriced. I was a bit full after the starter and my main: Chicken Jalfrezi (several spellings of this word) lacked both a flavour and spice (see update). It was quite cold when I came to eat it, so it went into the doggy bag for the next day. Same with my wife's. UPDATE: Heated up my main at home, and I have to say it tasted better, it had the spicy heat and flavour. I suppose I could still say it was overpriced, but then you have to take into account its location, sixe of the premises, and staffing levels. Especially for such a large place; it required a lot of staff. Champagne was served, and this doesn't come cheap in restaurants. Although I avoided the Armand de Brignac Brut at £375 per bottle. I think we all had a good time. Not sure it is a place I'd return, although my son has been several times.
