Who gives massages on Sunday? The Petite Retreat, I was relieved to learn. I booked a 90-minute session for that afternoon. The sage-green Victorian where the business is located was simple to find. It's in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood on the north side of Washington Avenue. Parking can be competitive there, but The Petite Retreat accommodates clients with private parking, both in its broad driveway and its side parking lot - a nice benefit when you're striving to be on time. The building has been added on to in interesting ways, so the reception area is a divided space. Original art, plus a baby grand with a chandelier over it, add to the atmosphere of relaxed luxe. I was assigned Cheryl as my masseuse. She guided me to a spacious treatment room in back, with massage table at center and a side table bearing an array of carrier oils, essential oils and other potions. Cheryl did an excellent job of giving a thorough massage, while paying special attention to the area where I was experiencing pain. I appreciated her responsive in using pressure that was firm but avoided adding to the pain. Cheryl sent me out the door with a large bottle of special water. I must admit I had trouble understanding the details of its special health-giving properties, but I trust Cheryl to do right by me.

Then they do your arms and a little stretching. When they move onto your feet it's like you didn't know you had those areas that needed it. When I say they really get in there they really get in there. The sides, the heels, the entire foot. Wow. And then there is this stretching at the end and toe slapping and popping and kneading and everything I didn't know I needed. For $50 for an hour it was well worth it. I literally cannot wait to go back.

Over the course of 30 years, I've experienced over 1000 massages, many of them excellent, the others acceptable and the rest "meh". I am very pleased to say, I have found, without exaggeration, THE BEST masseuse of them all. I can genuinely declare that, Ms. Helen Zhang, manager of C.C. Foot Massage is #1. A few practitioners are literally born with innate skill and with solid commitment and training, become extraordinary. Others, even with significant training and good will, become proficient, yet never achieve excellence. Ms. Helen Z. has both the innate skill AND the extensive training, experience and practice to have earned recognition in the top placement in her field. I declare this with scrutiny, care and my exhaustive knowledge in this vitally important healing art and science. And so, I recommend her to all my patients and clients. You better experience her before I hire her and charge double her current rates, as she well deserves. I would (and hopefully will) be honored and proud to have her on my team. Once you look past the aesthetic, this provided everything you need. The staff were very welcoming and inviting. I opted for the 90-minute deep tissue massage as I had been working out like crazy and needed some muscle relief. This was one of the best things I could do for myself, it felt like the massages I got when traveling to Vietnam- no fluff just straight to the root cause of the muscle pain. This isn't the type of place you go for a spa-like, relaxing atmosphere like Post Oak or Milk + Honey. Instead, it's where you go for a truly effective deep-pressure massage. The facility was clean, and my masseuse, Jessica, was fantastic. She took the time to ask about the areas I wanted to focus on and applied just the right amount of pressure in those areas. I was amazed at how much pressure she could apply despite her small stature. She also reassured me to not hesitate to let her know if something was uncomfortable which I appreciated. One aspect I particularly appreciated was that the massage included stretches, which contributed to significant relief. It wasn't necessarily a relaxing experience, but it was incredibly therapeutic. Also if you do not like feet or are shy this may not be the place for you. They use their feet to really apply deep pressure + stretch you in all directions like a piece of dough so inevitably you aren't always covered. I will definitely be returning!

We got the 60 minute Swedish massage, the room was very nice where we had two tables for each of us. My massage therapist was very intentional with each part of my body. I was able to tune off the outside world and be calm as can be. The music was also very nice as well. We also got the aroma therapy add on for our massage and we had the opportunity to pick between peppermint and lavender. We thought that the aromatherapy would be that the whole room would smell like the oils we picked out, however it was just a small smell throughout our massage. My boyfriend only got to smell his scent once, whereas I got to smell it three times throughout our massage. For $15, it didn't feel worth it. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. I would definitely come back but add on more time and choose a different add on!

The prices are reasonable whoever when you check in and let them know what you choose there is a disconnect. They seem to not be very familiar with what is on their website and or they just would rather sell you on the new offerings. I received the glow therapy with an additional massage in which was confusing because it states that the glow therapy comes with a massage but I went with it. I'm very underwhelmed. My massage therapist was COUGHING the ENTIRE time. It only was it disturbing my experience but it was also disturbing my homegirl's experience because we shared a room. I was somewhat excited to have a male therapist due to the strength of males hands but my service was not what I anticipated. It literally felt like he was just rubbing my skin and not massaging or putting any effort into my full body scrub. However, I will say that the products that were used smelled really good, and the place was clean and dainty.
