The candy may be filled with sugar but nothing is sweeter than Aunt Laurie who wants to be everyone's favorite Aunt. She greets you with a silver tray of candy because you are family and no one can walk around her store without eating candy. I wanted to purchase a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Rolos and she insisted on gifting it to me along with a freshly dipped chocolate covered Oreo. I had to insist on buying something so I purchased a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Snow Caps. The chocolate dipped treats were amazing. I wish I had gotten more but I had a long day ahead of me in a hot car. Next time I visit I will be sure to bring a cooler. Auntie Laurie also does gift baskets and party favors. If your child is celebrating a birthday be sure to bring them in to visit Aunt Laurie for her special love and attention. The candy is wonderful but just being around Aunt Laurie is enough to put a smile on your face.

It's a good drive from where we live and I usually stop if I have other things in the area the vet we use is near here And sometimes I combine it with a trip to them, but this time was after a medical appointment. This is a really long building and when you first stop in, you might think there are multiple businesses, but it's all open inside with one store. Every time we stop here the people working are friendly and helpful. They always have free samples on some of the candies and occasionally on some of the Preserves that they sell. I'm a big fan of their jellies, jams, preserves, and conserves and more. On this occasion, we picked up an assortment of their candies and a couple of jars. One is a raspberry jalapeño jelly and the other one is a blueberry conserve. These are both new ones for us to try and they both sound delicious. I like shopping here because you get to support a local business and everything is tasty. The places well lit and always clean. If you're traveling, they also provide shipping on many of their products. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area.

Back in the early 1900s T. W. Davidson grew oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines near Dundee. In the 1960s his son, Glen, planted his own citrus groves and started Davidson of Dundee. Glen had a career with the large candy companies up north. In Florida he created his own version of the citrus candy, based on a recipe his mother used to make with sugar cane and citrus juice. He used the fresh juices from his groves so the candy retained its full citrus flavor. Davidson of Dundee is now run by Glen's son, Tom Davidson. The candy company has been featured on the Food Network, Fox, CBS, ABC, and has also been featured in Smart Money and Southern Living magazines. The process of making delicious jam and candy starts in their own 200 acre citrus orchard where they grow Valencia oranges, tangerines, and key limes. The harvested fruit is then taken into the kitchens at Davidson where the it is cut and juiced. Jelly is made from juice, jam contains the pulp, and marmalade contains the peel. None of the fruit goes to waste. The juice is also used in the candy. You can watch the process from the large glass windows. Whole fruit is shipped to people all over the country. One of the highlights of a visit to Davidsons is the free samples. Tom still makes the citrus flavored jelly candy his dad created but he has also experimented with new flavors. You can buy the candy in small bags or in different gift basket combinations. In addition to the jam, jelly, spreads, and candy, Davidson also sells chocolate alligators, tea, sauces, dressings, and Florida souvenirs. I couldn't resist the pecan logs and strawberry delight jelly candy. If you can't make it in person they have an online store.

My experience is based on the interaction that we had this afternoon not the goods they serve. My sister and I were eating some of the goodies and having bonding time when a lady whom I can assume is the owner came from behind to my sister, touched her hair and then asked if it was appropriate for her to touched my sister's curly hair? Firsr, you already touched my sister's hair and two you must know it is not okay to do so when you are asking!. I truly thought my sister knew her but she did not! I just said you already did touch it which at that time she is just walking towards behind the counter and honestly not sure where she went after that. I cannot believe in 2026 we are still acting like this is okay. Not sure whom this lady thinks she is or what kind of games she thinks she plays to thinks it is okay. Not sure.if she truly thought she was given a compliment to my sister but what is wrong is wrong. She knew she did wrong. For sure we will not be coming back and for sure I have no desire to use what I have left of a gift card. Unprofessional and honestly so out of touch with your clientele. Winter Haven is growing rapidly and you will have to deal with all of more people like us. Some people are so passive aggressive that is gross. Not looking for an apology from the owner or the business.

I ordered a broiled combo plate that included snow crab legs, scallops, shrimp and fish (cod or grouper, I don't recall). I chose two sides, a salad and fried spinach. Prior to our meals we had a cup of New England clam chowder. The clam chowder was delicious and had large pieces of clam in it. All the mentioned seafood items on the plate were perfectly broiled, all of which you could tell were fresh (including the crab legs, which were plump and moist). The salad was okay, as was the interesting fried spinach. The better half had the shrimp & grits as her entree. She enjoyed and commented about how much shrimp there was atop the "grits" on her plate. I tasted it and it was okay to me. The wait service was above standard, with an attentive yet not annoying waitress. Overall I/we would eat here again; and with those $5 Old Fashions might have to make it an every 4 to 6 week ritual. It's that 40 minute drive that may curtail that thought. Time will tell.

I heard the eggnog was decent, the prices are also very decent compared to other ice pops. I'd return but would probably go for the ice cream instead.

So far Donut Palace has earned the local area 5 star rating for donuts. Albeit they don't have a plethora of donuts to choose from, there was enough variety to satisfy any lover of donuts. The posted hours are until noon (12pm for those who are unfamiliar with the word - lol jk I think) and I arrived a little after 11am. The donuts I purchased were all still very fresh (2 thumbs up). We really liked the donuts, which included lemon and raspberry filled powdered, apple fritter, cinnamon roll, and a couple of glazed. The powdered, which were for me, were NOT overly sweet and the dough was fresh and soft, almost melting in my mouth. The wife enjoyed her apple fritter, which was on the small size, and cinnamon roll. The glazed were not overpowering sweet, like a Krispy Kreme (no thanks). There really are not many donuts shops in the area, besides numerous Dunkins which I was never fond of, so if I find one that bests this place I will review it and downgrade this one a star, but for the moment it's 5 stars and we will return. BTW, the lady running the place was very nice.

Was super excited to bring my wife here the next day as it was her Birthday and she LOVES COFFEE!!! To keep it short It's a nice place, things are pricey, especially the Cheesecakes and it was just ok in comparison to other Winter Haven Coffee Hot spots - Haven anyone??? We were going to do coffee and cheesecakes for a Birthday Breakfast, but WOW, the cheesecakes were like 8 something a slice and they are small for the price. I don't care how good they are they are not a good Food to Value in my pockets opinion. We were there so we got drinks. 1 medium caramel macchiato for the Wife and it was very caramel sweet, not a good ratio in her opinion. We ordered a cappuccino, quad shot espresso, that I was charged for 2 espressos for instead of 1$ per extra shot like most other places. 2 Teas and it was over 30$. All the drinks could have been better. None of us really enjoyed them. Got the Fam some cake pops for 2.25 each everyone said they liked them. The service was good, only 1 kid working by themselves and it did take time for the drinks to be made. Luckily no one else was there so he was able to focus solely on our order. They were also out of a few different drinks the girls wanted first, so they had to choose a tea that was not really the best. My little one had the frozen hot cocoa and they enjoyed it. All in all we would most likely only stop back for coffee if we were in the area. It is a Sunday and we want coffee out, but not good enough to drive past our go to's for coffee on the other 6 days. Cheesecakes looked good, but for the price of 3 slices. I can buy a whole cheesecake and add my own toppings. AS ALWAYS, TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!
