    Drunken Noodles

This place is so cute. Filled to the brim with plants and string lights. You use a QR code to order everything and the place is BYOB. The veggie spring roll appetizer was small but very tasty. The evil fried rice was super yummy, and both the pad see ew and the drunken noodles were very tasty. The portion sizes on these were massive! Will definitely be coming back!

I hate to do it but the experience wasn't great. It started when we first entered and there was nobody around. We stood in the doorway awkwardly for some time wondering whether they were open or not. Eventually, somebody did come by and told us to go upstairs for service. Strange but not a big deal. We were seated immediately and looked over the menu. We placed our order through the phone. We did receive the appetizer and drinks pretty quickly. But our one hour parking expired in the time it took for our entrees to arrive. Luckily, the food was amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked well. I definitely recommend the food. However, the food was way too expensive. My Massaman curry was about $20, but adds an extra $2 for any protein, plus $4 for brown rice. Look at how much brown rice I got in my pictures. That's how much the entire pack of brown rice costs at the supermarket but I get a little bowl of it. The appetizer was $11 but it was such a small serving too. Plus, they automatically add a 20% gratuity and charge you a dollar for every box of takeout. Talk about nickel and diming. The service and price are the reasons I would not recommend this establishment. Which is a darn shame because the food was actually delicious.

I always have an amazing time at this place. First of all the restaurant is STUNNING, my pictures cannot do it justice. The plants and fairy lights make it magical in there. You have to see it for yourself. On top of that the staff is SO AMAZING. Very sweet and attentive. Warning the food does take a long time to get ready so be prepared to stay for at least 1.5/2 hours. Reservations are recommended on busy nights (Friday and Saturday) because it is a pretty small restaurant. They do takeout also. The street parking is usually available and free on weekends and at night (I think). Now for the food. We got the pan friend vegetable dumplings and the steamed shrimp dumplings. They were very flavorful. The pad Thai is amazing. With chicken or veggies- both are sooooo good. You get a choice of spicy from 1-6 so they have a level for everyone. I get the 3 medium spicy and it's got a good zing and is very flavorful. We got some drunken noodles to share and it was very saucy and yummy. My friend got the pad se ew and loved it as well. Nothing bad to say about this place. Highly recommend for dinners with friends, coworkers or a date!

This is literally my favorite restaurant to eat at. Ive been coming here for years even when I moved 1 hour away. Nothing taste as good as Ann's drunken beef noodle. I went to thailand 2022 and still think her food is the best. The beef is so tender it's incomparable.

We ordered takeout during quarantine and were extremely pleased! The food was excellent and they have many vegan/plant-based options. We really like that they put all the food in paper/cardboard containers instead of plastic, and the pickup was very easy. The staff was super friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious and we'd order them all again! 1. Spicy mango salad - this wasn't very spicy 2. Pad see ew with tofu - excellent and the noodles were perfectly spiced and sauced. 3. Drunken noodle with tofu - delicious! We liked the pad see ew better than the drunken noodle, but this was still very good. 4. Narberth jungle with tofu 5. Ginger mushroom with tofu 6. Panang curry with tofu (no spice) - delicious 7. Thai red curry with tofu (spice level 2) - delicious and the spice level provided a nice kick that wasn't overkill. I look forward to ordering again!

I went to coco Thai Bistro for the first time for my friends birthday. The interior is really magical with all the fairy lights and plants hanging from the ceiling and the walls. It definitely was very quiet since it was on a weekday. They even let us bring our own cake and provided utensils for us. When it comes to the food I would say the quality is mid, portions are very small but the price is really expensive. They also add 20% service fee to your receipt.

Great service and atmosphere. The food was delicious! We asked about gluten-free and vegan options and the staff was very helpful.

Try the green curry. Don't want spicy? Go for the red or penang curries. Their basil fried rice and beef salad (num tok / waterfall salad) are worth it, too. Good for a friend catchup, or romantic date. Intimate. Highly recommended, make reservations to be safe, especially since Manayunk Restaurant Week is upon us.

The service on restaurant week was so chaotic without a reservation. The hostess took my information for the paper waitlist but had no intentions on calling me back in 1.5 hours bc they were soooo busy. After 2+ hours of waiting, my party of 3 managed to sneak in right before closing and boy, was it worth it! I ordered the pad thai. The portion was just enough for one meal. Filled with extra veggies like cabbage for filler. But the sauce to noodle ratio was perfect! The pad thai sauce was perfectly sweet and tangy - coated the noodles so nicely without acting like a puddle of gravy. Might be my favorite pad thai in philly so far! The price is steep to curb my cravings tho (Fall 2025 ~$25). I went back a regular night and the service was quick and friendly. Ambiance of the restaurant is casual! Cute decor inside that gives the restaurant some charm. Parking can be rough in Manayunk! Paid street parking vs expensive lots vs steep residential hills. Tldr Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5

Our staff were always looking out for us, and making suggestions and recommendations throughout our entire meal, and even helping us with some tips to better enjoy our meal (they saw me sweating in response to the Thai spice). Definitely made this a top-notch experience. Ambience here is great! Love places with *real* greenery indoors and a lot of natural light, like this place, and seats and tables were spread out sufficiently such that there was a nice background chatter without feel too infringed upon by other conversations. We ordered a good variety to share. The spare ribs and the glass noodles dishes were amazing! Everything came out as ready, but it was on a good cadence such that we were enjoying things as they were ready, hot and fresh. I'm no expert on legitimacy of flavors and dishes, but honestly this feels like the most legit stuff I've had in the Thai wheelhouse in a while. To boot, even though we said no to dessert because we had other plans, they came with a candle on a plate to still share birthday wishes. A nice touch! Definitely a fancy occasion kind of place in my books, but I'd definitely make a return trip on another occasion!

KenScale: 8.25/10 Visit: April 2026…read more One restaurant in Philadelphia that I had wanted to visit for a long time was Kalaya, which was featured in the Chef's Table documentary on Netflix in 2024. I was moved by the personal story of the chef Chutatip "Nok" Suntaranon in the show, and of course my wife Jun and I would never say no to some delicious Thai food. On our recent trip to Philly to celebrate our anniversary, Jun and I finally got to check out Kalaya (which is named for the chef's mother) on a rainy Sunday for lunch before driving back home. We were very pleased with the lunch at Kalaya, which in our mind really showcased the Thai spicy flavor well. The menu at Kalaya features Southern Thai dishes inspired by the chef's family history. The colorful display of the dishes stood out throughout our meal, but more importantly we also really liked the spicy flavor that felt genuine and soulful. The cute flower-shaped Shaw Muang dumplings with ground chicken were highly recommended by our server and the kick from the Thai chili set the right tone right away. We were also fond of the poached shrimp and cabbage salad with coconut cream (Yum Kalum Bplee) for the delightfully crispy texture. For the main dishes, we ordered one stir fry and one curry. If you have to order just one dish at Kalaya, I can't recommend the colossal crab stir fry with egg (Pu Pad Pong Karee) enough. Served with jasmine rice, this dish offered complex flavor of spicy, salty, sour and sweet that was quite unlike anything I had encountered in a while. As Jun and I were savoring this awesomeness, I wished that I could've eaten this every week. The goat and lamb curry (Gaeng Pae), served with pickled cucumbers and coconut turmeric rice, was also impressive, with rustic curry broth that suddenly hit my tongue with spice blend. Despite that powerful impact on my palate, I couldn't stop myself from enjoying the curry, especially with the coconut turmeric rice that neutralized the curry's spicy kick somewhat. We also shared a side dish of stir-fried local mushrooms (Hed Pad Kratiam) that was solid as well. We were running out of room in our stomach after cleaning up the savory dishes, so we settled with ordering a Thai iced coffee to go before hitting the road. Not surprisingly, Kalaya is a very popular restaurant in the Philly dining scene so getting a reservation in advance is essential. I was a bit nervous on our visit as we were running rather late (by around 30 minutes) from picking up our car from the parking lot, yet the restaurant was gracious enough to honor our reservation. The bright and lively dining space offered quite a fitting background to the character of the dishes. There is a full bar with Thai-inspired cocktails and concise wine list designed to complement the Thai spices well. Kalaya definitely lived up its hype as one of the most important restaurants in Philadelphia; Jun and I were glad to have visited and would be more than happy to come back for our next visit to the city.

The wait staff were so nice and welcoming. The restaurant itself is quite lovely. The seating along the side wall is pretty cozy so the diner next to you isn't too far away. There were people who didn't know each other talking to each other about the food and so many other things. It was quite endearing. Now, on to the food. We started with the Tom Yum Soup and Peking Duck Roti Wraps. I never had Tom Yum Soup but I will for sure get it again (hopefully it's this good elsewhere). The tang and spice of the soup is so good and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. I absolutely loved it! The Duck Roti wraps also very tasty. What a creative blending of cuisine. For our entrees we had the Basil Fried Rice and the Panang Curry. The rice was nice and moist, rice cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The Panang Curry was spectacular! The creaminess, sweetness and depth of flavors is just so good. I wish this place wasn't so far because I definitely would be back a lot. I highly recommend this restaurant!
