We recently visited Coco Massage in Lone Tree (next to Sazon) for a couple's massage, and it was exactly what we needed. We had been there once before quite some time ago, and this visit reminded us why we liked it so much. The prices are very competitive, especially for the quality of service you receive. The atmosphere was calm, clean, and incredibly relaxing from the moment we walked in. The massage therapists were excellent, they instinctively knew exactly what I needed. They used just the right amount of pressure and worked through a tremendous amount of tension in my shoulders and neck. I tend to carry stress for long periods of time and live in a constant "fight or flight" mode, so when someone truly works out those deep knots and helps your body relax, it can almost feel like a shock to your system. I was a little nauseous afterward, but that's completely normal when you release that much built-up tension. After a carb-heavy, high-protein meal with a little sodium, I felt much better. The next morning I'm definitely sore, but again, that's expected when you've been holding onto that much tightness. What matters most is that I feel lighter, both physically and emotionally. My circulation feels better, the tension is gone, and I genuinely feel like a heavy burden has been lifted off my shoulders. My husband and I absolutely plan to return regularly. I don't get massages for fun or relaxation. I get them for pain relief. Of all the many, many massages that I have gotten (including one with a 10,000-year-old mammoth bone n Sedona), I have found that Asian massage is by far the best. I have been going to both Coco and Sophia (formerly Eastern Dragon) for MANY years. I usually do the combo reflexology/body massage, but opted for full body today, because I hurt everywhere. I told May that my neck/shoulders and hamstrings were very tight. She gave me an EXTRAORDINARY massage. It definitely was not fun nor relaxing, lol. She dug into the knots on my shoulders, worked on my hip flexors, and also incorporated head, facial, hand, and foot acupressure. The massage ends with hot oil, hot stones, and then a hot towel to wipe off the oil. I can now move my shoulders without crunching noises :) Leave your modesty at home. If your leg needs to be bent and stretched, that will happen. This is SERIOUSLY intense massage for pain relief. I would always suggest to call ahead if you can, he gets busy during traditional lunch hours but very easy to call and set up quick 10, 20, 30 minute apointment in the chair where they will do your full body. It had been almost a year since I had a message and my body was so stiff. I did some research and with the past reviews, this place was the winner-- comments stating that it was one of the best messages they had ever had AND insanely hard pressure. I called ahead to see about availability and was able to get an appointment in the next hour. The entrance is a small little door in between a couple of restaurants (sweet tomatoes and an Indian restaurant)-- first impression I wasn't sure. Once you go up the few flights of stairs you arrive to the the door/waiting room, where I was immediately greeted. The gal asked if I was the one who called for the appointment (impressive) and showed me the room. Agreed to hard pressure and that's what I got-- NO JOKE with the elbows, knees & toes. It was just ok. My lady came in 10 min late and ended sharp on the 00, it was basically a 50 min massgae not 60 min. I told her i would lay on my side so she could work on my neck. YAAASSS. $50 one hour massage with minimal reservation required? Perfect for that knot you just got from sitting too long. I love Chinese-style massages (and not just because I'm Chinese). The deep tissue style really gets those knots out, and my shoulders and back are pretty much always tight. This place in conveniently located in the United Artist theatre plaza near park Meadows. If you can't find it, it's on the opposite side of where india clay oven is. There's plenty of parking space. It may look a little dingy at first and you have to go up a few small flights of stairs, but the rooms are clean and the service is friendly. Most of the people who work here immigrated from China, they are very skilled but it might be hard to hold a conversation unless you speak Chinese. There's no communication barrier with basic massage instructions though! I do recommend calling ahead to make sure they have masseuse available, usually a few hours is sufficient. She worked my back neck and shoulders to perfection and the hot stone therapy relaxed my muscles after being tore up by her strong fingers and elbows. Saw Annie today. She consistently does an incredible job. She has small athletic frame and strong hands. I do not need to give Annie any directions. She does med-hard pressure with her hands, forearms, and elbows. I am a regular customer. I have stopped looking for a better massage. The studio is not fancy but it is very clean. You can feel and smell the freshness of the towels and linens. It is one of the best run businesses I frequent. The staff, including the owner, is friendly and attentive. Wow. You might as well have a "safe word" with your therapist! If you say that you like hard pressure - you better mean it. These ladies dig into every part of your body as if this was the last massage of your lifetime. I went in with tremendous aching in my left shoulder and upper back and my therapist, Annie, found exactly where the knots were and she went to battle for me. Because English is not their dominant language, there is no coaching through the pain, so remember to breathe through it all. Also, you should be prepared for some decent butt-touching as they massage that area. They aren't shy at all, so if you're uncomfortable with being touched - you may want to say that in the beginning. Overall, I would not recommend this place if you are looking for relaxation. I came here because I heard really good things. I was with my husband and we got a couples massage. I was very excited because I'd never had a massage before and was really looking forward to relaxing. We lay on the tables, and a woman and man come in. The 90 min massage began, the guy massaged my upper back in a very apathetic way. I thought he was just perhaps warming up.. but no then, 5 mins into the massage a hear a phone buzz on my table. He answered it and said "hi coco massage what time would you like to come in" I could not believe that he took the call and thought nothing of it. The phone continued to ring for the whole duration of my massage. He kept answering it and hitting me in the back while scheduling people. This was supposed to be a full body massage. He half-assed rubbed my upper back and then did my feet. Nothing else! To make matters worse I look over and my husband looks like he was getting the royal treatment from the lady massaging him. She brought out hot stones and really gave him a great massage. It's very disappointing that this place is too cheap to just hire a receptionist to schedule clients. Instead they have a person trying to be the receptionist while massaging. Truth be told, the man didn't really massage well at all! Great value! I get 2 -3 massages a week due to back issues and tightness. I just found this little gem on the internet. I have gone several times already and Vickie is absolutely amazing !!! I'm not use to having to tell someone to back off the pressure. Vickie is new here from NY and is honestly one of the best therapist, I have ever had. A little tough on the English, but her hands and techniques make up for it. To top it all off the pricing is ridiculously inexpensive compared to what I have been paying for years. If you're looking for a Western style spa with fluffy robe, scented candles, soothing music, steam room, etc. this is NOT the place for you. This is an Asian style, deep tissue massage. There are no frills - just tell the front clerk how long you want the massage (30, 60, 90 minutes) and she'll take you to a private room. There you take off your clothes, lay face down on a bed (under the covers) and wait for your masseuse to come in. My masseuse was aaa-mazing! She was a petite lady but she knew exactly where to press and get those hard knots out. Her fingers pressed each disc on my spine from head to lower back; she knew how to gently but effectively loosen my stiff shoulders and neck. She massaged my arms/legs/feet and I could feel every cell in my body being rejuvenated. She massaged my butt too, which I liked, but if you're uncomfortable, you can just speak up. Each private room is very clean and tidy. Again, no frills but if you need that solid deep massage and get those knots out, this is definitely the place.
