In the Basics of Pistol Shooting class, instructor Timothy Trickel covered the essential knowledge and skills for safely handling and firing pistols. Through lectures, videos, and demonstrations in a relaxed setting, he explained firearm safety, pistol features, proper handling, and cleaning. Students examined several types of pistols before using them at the range. They could bring their own firearm or rent one and buy ammunition. Although the outdoor range reduced gunshot noise, the 96-degree July heat was uncomfortable after a while. The class is a valuable opportunity to learn and practice the gun-handling exercises required to purchase a firearm from a licensed gun dealer. I attended Tim's class as an intermediate fire arm user, and I would definitely recommend Tim's class to anybody regardless of their firearm experience. Tim was very knowledgeable in all different types of calibers and pistols/rifles, extremely thorough when explaining details, and most importantly very cautious and safe when demonstrating how to handle the weapons.
