I have come here so many times ever since my 1st drop in. The food here is so good! I now live in San Diego and only stop in if I'm in LA. Recently I was in the area and ordered the Asian breakfast which was delicious! I order something different each time I visit because I know it will not disappoint and it doesn't! The juices are freshly made to order and I never leave here without one. The owner of this place is so generous, professional, and swift. He gets the food out so fast it surprises me. I'll admit, when I looked at the price, I was like "Why is this breakfast sandwich more than $8"? But baybay, I get it now and it's worth it. The flavor is amazing; it's seasoned. Now that I know that they season their food, I'm excited about the other things that I saw on the menu. I got the sausage croissant and he put 3 different types of sausage on that joint. I waited 50 min for my Medium NY Steak and Eggs. My Thai tea also took a while to be served. The booth and table was not pristine. But the vibe was homey and pleasant with friendly staff. The prep time had me concerned but hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. And I was NOT disappointed! I was the best steak and eggs I've ever had. I'm ruined for any other. I went in feeling under the weather from antibiotics and yet another cold and o left feeling better bc the owner cared so much about my health and gave me so much good advice and amazing juice - I learned about sea moss and was so inspired by the health menu ! We ordered the: Asian Breakfast = very tasty Salmon with Grits add brown sugar = Salmon was cooked to perfection and the Grits was amazing!!! Called in for 2 items: breakfast bagel and shrimp & egg wrap. The guy who picked up the phone was nice and asked if we wanted avocado on both our items. We thought sure, although he didn't say it was additional $, we assumed it was, just added to hopefully help small biz. He said they will be ready in 20mins and I asked him for the amount so we can just drop them cash. When we got there, we were a few minutes early. There was 1 couple (no mask) seated and another couple (with mask) standing on the side. They gestured me to go ahead and that they were not in line. The guy in the kitchen cooking had his mask on his chin, so basically no mask. He didn't see me until a few minutes in and it was ok. I rather he focus on cooking so he won't be talking at the food. He finally saw me and walked towards me and he knew I was the person who called in. He went back to making the food and eventually packing them up. He did use gloves, just the mask was on his chin the whole time. But also thankfully he didn't speak as he was preparing the food. Plus, I also saw a sticker at the cashier that says I am vaccinated. Maybe that's why? I mean it doesn't justify, but I feel slightly better after seeing that. I handed him the money and told him to keep the change. He was very grateful and even asked me to grab a drink. I said I was ok and left. Onto the food. So the extra dollar for the avocado...it wasn't much. In fact, I could barely see it in my wrap. But again, it was really to help support small biz. Plus, he gave me a lot of shrimps and they were big ones (and yummy!). It also came with a hashbrown (Mcdonalds style). The breakfast croissant was EPIC - again, let's set the extra avocado aside. There was bacon, scrambled eggs, bell peppers, mushrooms (i know!), sliced sausages and 2 small sausage links. This unassuming place caught my eye as we drove by, hungry for a late breakfast, and I am so glad we stopped. The most wonderful place: had a breakfast croissant that was basically a delicious omelette housed in one of their house-baked pastries. Tater tots on the side were amazing with their homemade habanero sauce, and a sample of fresh-squeezed watermelon juice made it the perfect breakfast (which they serve all day!). I used to see this place all the time and was always curious about it. I had an accident a couple of years ago and that sealed my fate. I take long walks now to help to heal my leg which was injured in the accident. So, I am walking down Sherman Way towards Reseda and there it was again. So, I decided to stop in and try it, really not expecting much. I actually had lunch the first time and ordered ribs. The food was so great I came again. And eventually, I decided to come one day for breakfast. I ordered steak and eggs. I was doing a show in Hollywood a few weeks ago and ordered steak and eggs from Mels. As usual, with all restaurants, there was the small steak on my plate with everthing else. When Paul (the owner) brought my food to the table, I almost fell over dead. The steak came on a cutting board but was about as big as he plate. And he cooked it perfectly. Mix that with his fresh juices he makes (and he has a lot of great combinations) and you are set. Unfortunately, I could not finish it so I had to take the steak home. So, this became my staple there and I ended up having my son and his girlfriend come over and they fell in love with it. So, when my kid comes to visit me from Hueneme, we go there. I went on one of my walks today and I happened to go that way. Steak and eggs again, of course. Paul had ribeye (he also has New York) and cooked it up for me. I think I might have eaten half the steak. That's OK, I can make a delicious sandwich out of it tomorrow. Been 2 Miles away from this hidden gem for 2 years, so glad I found it. The owner is the cook and he makes everything to order fresh. I have had the Salmon and Grits me and my wife tried the Omelet and had the Japanese Breakfast. Everything is on point, very tasty and again I will say FRESH mad to order. The owner is very personable even when he is a one man show sometimes cooking, taking orders and clearing tables. The chicken is halal, seasoned beautifully, and not greasy at all! It's served with mayonnaise(?) and relish, and both with the chicken are delicious!! However, where it lacks in visual aesthetics makes up for it with exceptional customer service and a high-energy vibe that makes me come back for more. Paul is by far the life of the entire restaurant. He always makes it his priority that every customer is satisfied and has everything. The food itself is not out of this world but does the right trick when you're in a bind. Given the quantity and quality of the food, it is decently priced and guarantee to make you full. Steak sandwich was cooked to my liking and the second time I came here the lunch special served with steak and a side of vegetables and rice, gave a perfect combination for lunch. Wear a mask don't wear a mask that's not my problem. The issue is when a shop owner/ employees allows their personal views to disparage customers: I walk in to get a smoothie. The owner? Finished his breakfast, washed his hands -- great but then wipes his forehead on his clean hands -- yikes. Comes to the counter to take my order with no masks or gloves on :( I politely ask if he's going to put a mask on and he quickly retrieves one. He offered me one. I had two on and I said no thanks, he says try three that's what Dr. Faucci recommends. I ignore the snark and start to say what I want to order. He then leaves the counter sits in the kitchen and goes back to eating SUCKING HIS FINGER TIPS with each bite... come on! Rude, combative, and obnoxious. You lost a customer and I know you don't care. I hate wearing a mask or seatbelts for that matter but mandates, laws, rules are in place for EVERYONE'S Safety. This is a gem. From the price to the location it's worth checking out. I went here for breakfast and I was not disappointed. I paid a little over 30 dollars for 3 breakfast i teams. We all shared and everything was delicious. I would say the sides are a bit small for the price, especially the potato's. Also, a few of the avocado slices on my sandwiches were over ripped.
