Chicken Salad Tortilla Bowl
Michael W.

So many choices down this strip of restaurants to chose from. Fortunately, I think we picked the right one on this Saturday night. We had the tapas selection of calamari which just melted in your mouth as an entree. For main meal I had the Chicken Salad Tortilla Bowl. The flavours were awesome, melted in your mouth & was good value. Maybe just a little less dressing in the salad would be nice as it was too much. Nice all the same. The service was great, fast & helpful. The atmosphere was pretty cool too, however where we were seated was a little squashy. Would definitely return next time I am up from Melbourne.

Milkshakes, tapas chilli cheese fries and awesome music! That is what my night out with friends was and it was awesome! As soon as we arrived we found the place packed with no tables left but the manager kindly packed up his paperwork and let us sit at the table he was at. We all ordered tapas each to share which consisted of chicken bites ( with an awesome spicy sauce), haloumi and capsicum, calamari and lastly chorizo and olives! All the tapas come out in little awesome dishes, since coming here quite often we were surprised to find that the tapas no longer come with little pieces of tortilla to wrap your food up in. A mistake in the kitchen found that we ended up with an extra tapas but they said it was on the house! The tapas were very nice and we washed it down with milkshakes. The caramel milkshake if I may say was absolutely amazing!! Yum! Can't wait to come back again. Might try the cocos located in Campbelltown next time :)

Warm mushroom and rice bowl with my husbands local beer.

How can you not go to a restaurant with gorgeous street-side eating when the restaurant has "chocolate" prominently displayed on the banner above the doors/windows? Well- a bit of false advertising as chocolate was only found in the dipping sauce for the churros. If you want chocolate- Better to head down the street to chocolateria San churro to get your fix (which is exactly what we did.). Meanwhile- if non-chocolate food is your thing, I enjoyed the warm mushroom and rice bowl with added chicken for $19.90. I don't know if it was authentic Cuban, but it had delicious beans, corn and baby spinach not to mention delicious fresh Australian avocado. I don't know if it is considered the National fruit- but it should be! I paired my semi-healthy rice bowl with a glass of bubbles on the happy hour menu for $5.

I have been to Coco Cubano, I think, at every one of its locations in and around Sydney. Suburban rouse hill, in parramatta, in crows nest, you name it and I have been there! But parra was my first so it gets the review :) The atmosphere rocks at coco Cubano - old style antique looking, without being all 'Victorian house'! Comfy chairs and in general, a very smiley bunch of servers and staff members! Food? Fantastic. Every time I've been, I've tried to order something different (and being veg, I'm fast running out!) but the food has never disappointed me. Their cheesy fries and potato wedges are special favourites. Honourable mention goes to the generously topped, heated nachos. But my favourite are their burgers. So big that holding them becomes a trial, it is worth it for the taste! :)

Pretty disappointing. Quality of food was good but the cost and portions were ridiculous. For example, the avo on toast has cherry tomatoes on the menu - it literally came with ONE cherry tomato cut in half. It was also only one piece of sourdough. The vegetarian breakfast (18.9) came with a teaspoon of wilted spinach, and one medium piece of sourdough. We literally paid for main and received snacks. Disappointing.

While strolling down Church Street this morning we passed Coco Cubano and we thought we'd give it a go as many other restaurants were closed that early on a Sunday morning. The restaurant seemed inviting and the atmosphere was pleasant. We ordered a bacon and egg cubano pressed sandwich, Havana feast, toast for our little one and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was lovely and my sandwich was simple and tasty... however it was nothing special. The Havana feast was enjoyable and filling. I did find this place to be quite lackluster simple things were missed by staff such as water for our table and also serving butter that was almost stone cold and impossible to spread.

This is the style of chair I like to grab. A hint of Cuban decadence.

Chimi churi cafè in Chatswood is the most instagrammable cafès we have come across. The owners,…read morepreviously of Local Embassy in Pyrmont have brought their game to the north. The cafè is hidden in the back streets but despite this, the cafe is very popular, which shows their food is bringing in a crowd. The cafe has a cool set up, with a number of indoor and outdoor tables, there are also a couple of communal tables. As you walk in there is a large mural painted on the wall of an interesting character, with a tweaked moustache which is a reflection of the interesting and quirky menu on offer. Then, a range of visually appealing plates started to arrive at the table for us to photograph and share. The signature being the black benedict which is a soft shell crab burger with squid ink hollandaise. The bun, a black brioche which gets its colour from charcoal. This dish is not only visually appealing, but also very tasty and unlike any burger we have tried before. For bacon lovers the 'lick my bacon' is right up your alley. A thick cut bacon steak, cue Homer Simpson drooling mmmmm bacon. This served on a freshly baked red striped croissant with a has brown and haloumi and a side 100% Canadian Maple Syrup. Need I say more? Other notable breakfast options were the Chimi Churi eggs. Poached eggs, labneh, chilli oil, Chimichuri dukkah sauce and freshly baked artisan bread. Keep an eye out for the Cola Bowl which will be a new addition to the menu. A tasty yogurt bowl served with toasted granola, fruit and for a bit of a twist a cola syrup drizzled on top. The lunch menu may not be as grammable, but tasty and had some healthy options available. The stuffed calamari with a bit of South American flair. This dish with a nice flavour combination of chicken mince, chorizo, chimichuri salsa with a tasty parsnip and beetroot cream. The seared tuna, another healthy option served with a pineapple salsa and nicely plated too. The lunch menu is not at all healthy, with Chimi Churi doing a decent mac and cheese with triple cheese pork and bacon. The fried chicken bites were also very more-ish and the seasoned chips that came with the chicken, unbelievably tasty. They also have some great options for those with a sweet tooth. The nutella french toast, nice and fluffy with fairy floss a mini jar of nutella and served with some fresh fruit. The pannacotta another beautifully plated dish, very photogenic. A nice sweet finish a textural dish with the smoothness of the pannacotta, the macadamia crumb, a airy sponge, sauced with the berry coulis. As mentioned one of the most grammable cafes we have been to. The owners are perfectionists and the menu is well balanced with something for everyone. The food is not only very photogenic, the food is also tasty. Worth travelling to Chatswood to try some cool dishes and to get some great shots for your instagram feed.

However, ignoring that, this cafe is awesome. Firstly, the coffee here is good. Not the best cafe you'll get but good enough to get a second cup. Which I did. It is a little bit lighter, so if you like a darker brew, might want to order a double shot - just a warning. The finest thing about this cafe is the food. Now, it is slightly on the 'smaller' portion side. But it is quite good. Everything we order was extremely tasty. And the staff here are extremely helpful and friendly.
