The club looks unimpressive from the outside, but inside it's clean, cozy and welcoming to everyone. There's a pool table, keno machines. The bar staff are attentive. Drink prices are on the low end. The restrooms are clean. They come in 3 flavors, male, female, and 2 private, large, unisex restrooms(which are also wheelchair accessible) The dance floor is set up for a great light show. It's always packed to the gills on Monday nights, which is always hip-hop night. But don't let the name fool you, it's about 90 percent white college kids. The music is blaring loud so this is a place to dance and party hard. The staff is on top of their game and very friendly. Security is also top notch inside the club, they're heavily armed and very professional. The security doesn't harass the patrons, they just maintain order and keep the peace. If there's a problem they are on top of it promptly. No security visible in the nearby parking areas so you are on your own out there. The dance floor is huge and open from all sides. Two pool tables, cigarette machine, coat check are all available. The outdoor patio and back yard is the really nice part. There is a huge covered outdoor bar, deck, picnic tables, and they even have a grill going if you want a quick hot dog to eat. The only drawback to this place is that parking is limited to a small rutted lot next door and a dark seedy side street that goes down the hill behind this place. The neighborhood is not the greatest, so go in a group or carry your trusted firearm of choice. Only problem with carrying a gun is they search people for weapons at the door if that gives you any idea of how the neighborhood is. There is a nice well lit free parking lot down the road and the bar offers a shuttle service on the busy nights if you don't want to walk it. The crowd is mostly gay college age kids from the Akron area. The crowd is about 50/50 male female, a few straight people, and some black, Latino, Asian, and mixed races. If you go in with a good attitude and don't act like a douche, the people are pretty friendly here. I can't say I've ever had a bad time at the Interbelt. I first visited in October 2023 with some friends after leaving the MIX event at the CMA (museum). Twist had a 2000's music theme that night. My friends and I had a fantastic time dancing the night away. Fast forward to a year later to Saturday, 31 August 2024 and I'm back at Twist again for their white party for the labour day holiday. The 2024 labour day holiday white party was fun. I arrived at 10pm with a friend and we met 3 other friends there. We danced to a live DJ who spun tunes all night; however, I will say that some of the music choices were not the best because they were not ideal for dancing. At around 11:30pm is when the dance floor begun to be crowded. So as midnight approached, it became a bit uncomfortable to remain on the small(ish) dance floor so I moved towards the back by the bar. Although I don't drink alcohol, moving away from the dance floor towards the front door entrance by the bar was a good choice for me because I didn't feel as claustrophobic as I did when I was on the cramped dance floor. The bartenders try to learn and remember everybody's' names and they definitely do not forget a face. And yes, there is leather. The most recent Mr Leather Cleveland contest was held there and there is a basement bar that is for the leather crowd. The owner of the club is Gay and is into leather himself. He owns another bar in Akron called Cocktails Akron. The place is not real glamorous or plush but it is very functional. It is friendly and fun. Upstairs though, is a mixture of people from all races, age, gender and backgrounds. I really love this mix. Cocktails has a small stage and sometimes, there is a drag show on Saturdays but not every Saturday. On Fridays they have male strippers. Wednesdays are popular for the karaoke and they get a nice crowd. On Sunday, they have an excellent potluck dinner with a lot of people participating. Seriously, it is one of the best potlucks I have seen in the Gay clubs here in NE Ohio. At night on Sunday, they have karaoke again. There is a very large covered patio that is heated during the colder weather. There are two pool tables. There is tons of seating at the bar and there is plenty of high-top tables with chairs. They have very good security in that there are close circuit cameras inside the club and outside all over. Also, the entrance is locked and you have to be buzzed into the place by one of the bartenders who can see your face on a monitor. The building is well lit on the outside and they recently added a new facade on the front of the building with more lighting.
