Fantastic food. Authentic, simple, delicious. This is our go to place and the best authentic Mexican food we have found in North Carolina.

So we pulled off, took out the trusty Yelp app, and this place popped up. Pulling it, it was clear that they were popular and busy. We went in and there was a wait, about 15 minutes. We decided to hang around instead of worrying about "making good time" and are glad we did. Once we got a seat, we received great service. Our server always kept our drink full, and checked on us just enough. We never felt like we were searching for her. Looking at the menu, I was surprised to see that the prices were not unreasonable, even though it's a very trendy place. in fact, they had a $10ish lunch menu available with a few selections that even included a drink. I was more in a lunch mood so I went that direction, and got a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Food came out hot and in a reasonable time even with a full restaurant, so this is a well oiled machine. For the price, I was pretty impressed. I would say the sandwich was about the size of your average CFA chicken sandwich, but had a bold buffalo flavor that I liked a lot. They didn't skimp on the fries, and the ranch complemented it perfectly. We finished up and our server was on top of things getting us the check, so really we still made "good time" on our drive to the coast. I would recommend Brunches to travelers and locals alike!

Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout the entire meal. We ordered the mimosa specialty flight, which included Cloud 9, Tequila Sunrise, Blue Lemon Drop, and Creamsicle. Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos of the Breakfast Tacos and the All American, but everything was absolutely delicious. Overall, this was a 10/10.

They helped me navigate my coffee order and executed it to perfection. They also answered all of my gluten free questions and took extra precautions for my allergy. The egg white and cheese sandwich with turkey bacon was great. Pro tip: Order it with a double portion of egg white for added protein. I also got an iced cafe latte with caramel. You can get a punch card for every coffee and get one free on your tenth purchase. They have a great pastry selection. I got an almond croissant to go for my mom on a recommendation from a friend that said it's a can't miss! (I can't try it due to my allergy but it looks amazing) The ambiance has a cute cafe with plenty of seating.

We got the scones (I would recommend the honey and chive butter, she preferred the sweet cinnamon sugar). We also split the French onion Mac and cheese. I love that they use cavatappi (sp? - corkscrews) so the sauce is in and around every noodle. The crisp onions on top provided a perfect crunch! We also split the crab and avocado sandwich with house salad. The house salad dressing was amazing as was the crab and avocado. It was so good I asked for a catering menu for my next event. Thankfully, our amazing service was Gabi, who manages all the catering. Such a great experience on a lovely afternoon.

The décor is absolutely stunning, and the service was excellent. We visited during Christmastime and truly loved the festive decorations. Our drinks were perfect and well-crafted. For dinner, we shared the chowder, which unfortunately was underwhelming--the croutons were the best part. We then ordered the chicken, salmon, and mashed potatoes. The salmon was dry, the chicken was on the bone with very little meat, and the mashed potatoes were surprisingly disappointing. I even took them home hoping I could improve them myself. I will likely return to the Tea Room because I enjoy supporting local businesses and genuinely like their drinks and small bites, but I would not come back for dinner.

Little Mister enjoys his smiley pancake and was looking forward to it at Eggs Up Grill. What he really wanted were those candy eyeballs. He put in his order and waited patiently. Out came his pancake with the little bowl of blueberries and little bowl of strawberries. No candy eyeballs. The plate looked like it had strawberry juice on it even though the strawberries come in a separate bowl so littles can add their own. We also noticed a piece of pancake in the blueberry bowl. I tried a blueberry and it was warm, not cold like I was expecting. No biggie, maybe someone made a mistake and accidentally added them but scooped them off when they realized it. We encouraged him to go ahead and start crafting his pancake face while we waited for the eyeball delivery. Finally we told him he needed to eat without the eyeballs because we needed to get somewhere. He wasn't having it. No eyeballs, no eating of the pancake. When we asked our server about it, she quickly made it right and actually brought 3 eyeballs! He started eating his pancake and said he tasted banana, of which he is not a fan. We didn't know what to make of that but then realized that there was another menu item that included bananas so maybe someone made the banana thing, realized the mistake and tried to fix it. Anyway, Little Mister could taste the banana and now I was really having reservations about that pancake. He also had scrambled eggs and sausage which he enjoyed. We've been here several times and the food is usually very good and service is great. This recent visit was different but hopefully our next visit will be banana-free with timely eyeballs.
