Coca has 2 parts the Bar and the Restaurant. I come here when I crave for soup.
Green Earth Platter with Ojiya (1100+ PHP)
A set that's good for 4, but since my brother and I wanted a filling veggie meal, the big size and the Ojiya fit the bill well. They specialise in hot pot, but they also serve Chinese-Thai dishes from their al a carte menu. You have a choice of 4 different soups, Spicy, Tom yum (Spicy Sour), Vegetable, and Chicken (preferred). We chose chicken since it feels good during gloomy days, as I would like to believe.
Ojiya is a mild and thin Japanese rice soup akin to a vegetable soup with lots of rice. Typically made from left over rice, but new is used here. All of the remaining ingredients are set aside in a bowl and the rice is poured in, then the process begins. Mashing and mix the rice to a sticky consistency with soy sauce, garlic, and coriander.
SERVICE (Exceptionally Good)
Our server was very attentive and since we ate mid-afternoon, the restaurant was empty, which is why our waiter treated us like royalty. Every struggle I had was answered. Example; I decided to eat the corns from the hot pot, our waiter approached our table and quickly poked the cobs with chopsticks for ease of handling. Our pot was constantly refilled with our choice of soup (chicken stock) and regulated regularly to keep soup hot, but not boiling. Water was also refilled before we needed to ask. Thank you Vernal for your hospitality.
AMBIANCE (It's Basic)
Brown dominates the restaurant's interior and furnishing giving it a darker feel that's gloomy. Center tables get a nice price curtain that surrounds them, but that's optional. read more
