At $5 each you can get some cool, retro looking T's for a great price. The display makes it easy to see all the choices. They have a good selection without being overwhelming of many things like books, toys, clothing.....even snack foods. Some things are even under $5. I think the price is perfect for the things they sell. The employees are helpful and the self checkout is a great idea....it gives the employees more time to straighten the T-shirts instead of standing at registers. I like that they offer hand sanitizer on your way in or out and while I was there I saw employees wiping down surfaces being diligent on COVID-19 safety practices. 5 Below is a fun store to browse and I bet you find something you just have to have....for $5 or less....it's a deal!

I've never been to a Costco out of the country before, so I was excited to see one in Niagara…read moreFalls. They carry pretty much the same things that we have here in Hawaii. I even saw Hawaiian Host Strawberries and Creme White Chocolate covered mac nuts. I love seafood. They had cooked lobsters in packages of two for around $35 and huge packages of large head on shrimp for around $20. What a deal. If I was there longer I definitely would have bought those to eat. Sadly, we were leaving that day. Try out the food court is a must for me. They had all the standard: pizza, hot dogs and soft serve ice cream. They did have polish dogs. I wish they would bring that back at home. They also sell chicken strips and fries. I had to try out a Canadian specialty which is the poutine $6.99. It's french fries smothered in brown gravy and cheese curds. It was my first time trying it and I did not like it. The gravy was so salty and made the fries soggy. The cheese curds made the dish so rich. I couldn't even finish half of it. I dumped the rest. Oh well, at least I got to try it. *prices in CAD

That said, the differences based on geographical locations keep things interesting. Although there were plenty of folks walking about, traffic was pretty tamed and so were the lines queuing up to checkout. Speaking with one of the bakery staff members, their recent seasonal item was the Peach Mango Coconut Loaf Cake, which sounded amazing, so I got two. Even the cashier lady was eyeing them and wondered if they were any good. I also purchased a package of Mrs. Dunster's Crescent Shaped Sugar Donuts. After taking these items back home, my family and coworkers had a chance to try the loaf cakes. In my opinion, these loaves were a tad sweeter than I'd like, but the others enjoyed it. The donuts on the other hand were delicate and balanced in its sweetness, so I kinda wished I bought more.

Canada Trading Company: A Niagara Falls Must-Visit…read more Located in the heart of Clifton Hill, the Canada Trading Company is much more than a typical souvenir shop. It is a massive, well-organized emporium that expertly blends classic Canadian mementos with high-quality collectibles. Visitors are often drawn in by the impressive life-sized animal displays and rustic, lodge-like atmosphere, making it a fun photo op as much as a retail destination. From authentic maple syrups and plush toys to unique home decor and Indigenous-made crafts, the variety is staggering. While it can get crowded during tourist peaks, the wide aisles and friendly service ensure a pleasant shopping experience.

But I did check out one of the stores downstairs (you have to go down some stairs to get there). I ended up using the bathroom, which I really appreciated, it was clean and easy to access. That made my visit much more comfortable. The shop itself was full of all the classic touristy Canada stuff you can imagine. Honestly, nothing caught my eye enough to buy, but if I ever needed a gift for someone visiting from Canada, it would be a convenient spot. Just not my thing. Overall, no shopping for me, but that bathroom alone makes this a spot I'd use again. Might be a bit of a secret bathroom gem. So... that's cool.

It's not a trip across the border if you don't make a stop at the Duty Free store! This one is…read morelocated in a very convenient spot right by the main tourist district in Niagara Falls on the Canada side. It's a standard duty free store that's well organized and stocks all the greatest hits of shops like this: perfume, Canadian souvenirs, cigars, toys, candy and snacks, and lots of liquor! There are a few handbags and sunglasses too. There's a nice selection of Canadian wine and spirits, and most of the major brands are well represented (Grey Goose, Absolut, Johnnie Walker, and all sorts of beer and more). In fact, a bottle of Wayne Gretzky's cream liqueur or a pack of mini bottles of Niagara-On-The-Lake Ice Wine would make awesome gifts for friends and family back home. I'd say the majority of the store is dedicated to booze and perfume / cologne. Pro tip: make sure you use the restroom before leaving, because the border crossing can notoriously take a LONG time to get across. The bathrooms were pretty dirty the night I visited, but I am guessing that's because of the sheer volume of visitors that come through the doors. This is quite a popular tour bus stop. This shop has a huge parking lot that overlooks the falls (so be sure to go take some pictures before you leave)! You cannot make any purchases here unless you are on your way back into the United States, so take note. The parking lot road leads directly to the bridge and there's no place else to go. Purchasing here works like a standard duty free shop: you make your purchase, they record your license plate, then you drive around to a pick-up window to collect your goods. The road leads you straight over the bridge from the Canada to the U.S.A., so don't even think about being able to turn back into Canada from the store! They take both Canadian and American money, which is cool. It's a great way to get rid of some foreign currency before you head to the U.S. They will give you change in either currency, just ask for what you want. I always love browsing Duty Free stores and although I purchased nothing, it was fun to stretch my legs and look around. They are open every day from 7 am - 11 pm.
