I contacted Cobra on a Friday afternoon when my AC died. I reached the owner, who said he would be by the next morning to assess. He could not come in the morning because of rain. We communicated via text and it was normal--he said he was looking forward to helping and would call me Monday morning. He did not miss an opportunity to comment about how I should have had it serviced over the years, which I acutely felt bad enough about already. Some technical friends tried to help me Saturday afternoon (it had stopped raining early) by replacing the capacitor. I shared that information with him. He said something strange about 'probably' calling Monday. For context: it was in the middle of a brutal heat wave, and I have 2 kids and a dog. I left a msg and texted on Monday and was . . . GHOSTED. No response at all. It would have been (somewhat) professional to just tell me they couldn't help at that point, but to ghost a potential customer was unbelievably unprofessional. No only did we get a properly sized and efficient on demand boiler, unico hvac system, and high efficiency duct work, but Tim pointed out idiosyncrasies in other house systems that would effect the hvac performance. I am not one to typically leave a review, but I felt compelled to write this one because of the exceptional service I received from Tim at Cobra. Even though the AC was turned on, I noticed that our upstairs was not getting cool. A quick check of the thermostat confirmed that everything looked fine, but hot air was blowing out of the vents. Not a good sign, especially in July! I called our traditional AC service company, who told me they couldn't get to our house for a week. Asking around our friends provided a few names and options. The first company I called still hasn't called me back. The 2nd was Cobra. Tim (the owner) answered my call and said he would come over that afternoon! Tim came out and quickly assessed the issue. His initial thought based on examination and age of the unit, 17 years, was that a completely new system might be needed. However, he suggested a potential fix, replacing the burned-out capacitor and bad contactor. He told me that he needed to order these parts and would come back when he received them. A few days later, Tim called and said that he would be able to install them the next morning. He came over and within 45 minutes he had our AC working!! I was expecting a fairly large bill, 2 separate service calls, and parts, but when he gave us the invoice I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. His pricing is fair and reasonable and he did not take advantage of our position - desperate for cool air! That's honesty and professionalism. I am a pretty skeptical person in general, but Tim was so transparent, informative and trustworthy that he is now our go-to AC/Heating guy. The short version: Stop looking now, Just call Tim. Now, the rest of the story... We recently noticed our AC unit was struggling to keep the house cool. The system was installed about 12 years ago and we have never had any problems with it. Unfortunately our installer went out of business. So when we noticed the issue we started to look for a new maintenance company. We did not have a great sense of urgency because it wasn't that hot so a few weeks passed. Then we got a heat wave and we got our electric bill ($650/yikes!!!). So on Monday morning we started to call companies to see what they charged and what coolant would cost per pound- no one was very clear on price. My wife actually spoke to Tim on the phone (not an answering service or machine). He gave her an hourly rate and a price of coolant per pound. I then looked at Cobra's yelp reviews. They did not have a ton so I was a little concerned but they all had a thread that was sincere and they all seemed to say nice things about Tim. So after all our searching I called Tim about noon and left him a message that we wanted to set up an appointment. He called me back in about 20 minutes. That was impressive. But even more impressive was that he could do a service that afternoon at 3:30. About 2:30 Tim called again and said he would be early. He came out and reviewed the system. He was very informative and told me a lot of the homeowner maintenance I was doing was really good. He found that we were down 4lbs of coolant and filled us up. He also gave the outdoor compressor a thorough wash down to cool it. He inspected the air handler in my attic to be sure everything was in good working order after 12 years. Tim left us after making sure our system was running well. He gave us some recommendations for future maintenance and estimated our home would be cooled down by later that night. At 11pm the system shut down - our temperature had gone from 82 to 73 and we were finally back to "normal". At 8:30 the following morning Tim called to make sure we were working well. I want to be clear, I had never met Tim or knew of Cobra before Monday morning when we first called his company. By Tuesday morning I was sure that as long as we need any maintenance on our AC or boiler in the future, we will simply call him. Our total bill to get us up and running on a 90+ day, same day service was less than $400. read more

We've contracted with Cobra on a couple of different home projects since moving to the Fairfield area in Summer 2020. Couldn't be happier with the service that we received in both instances. Tim is so incredibly helpful, transparent and knowledgeable about all things HVAC. Pricing is always fair and he tries his best to keep overall costs low and as close as possible to the quoted amount. Tim also does his best to explain what's going on in incredible detail, so that you never feel like you're in the dark with the work being performed. He's also come by on numerous occasions to quickly service minor issues following the installations. I had a new heat and AC system installed at my house in Trumbull by a company that didn't finish the job. The heat worked but the AC wasn't ready and there were a few things that needed to be fixed. Tim agreed to help and explained everything very clearly. He came quickly and got the system running before we had any very hot days. He's also helping with getting the final inspection done. Needed to have work done on a gas boiler that was making a whistling noise. Tim came out and analyzed the issue(s) most of which were due to the initial conversion from oil to gas several years ago that was done incorrectly (by another company). TIm was able to resolve the main issue, explained everything he was doing and why as well as what additional work needed to be done to get everything corrected and the system running at an optimal level. OK, here I was with a 15 year old Unico installation that had failed for good. Tim made it all right, fixing all that had been done badly. Oh yeah, the indoor equipment was wedged into tiny mechanical spaces under the attic eaves. Hardly a walk in the park. I am a very satisfied customer. read more
