So I decided, instead of waiting for the part why not just replace this haunted unit with a new one. Sandpiper said they could do that, but again not until Tuesday. No way I wanted to go 6 days in this heat wave without air conditioning. So, after over 20years as a Sandpiper customer I decided to try someone else. I read that Kool Freeze and several 5 star ratings so I gave them a shot. Brand new central air conditioner installed the very next day at an excellent price by very friendly and hard working installers. Instead, the girl on the phone said they would have to diagnose the problem and that would entail a service call fee. After explaining that I only needed an estimate, not a service call, she rudely and abruptly said they wouldn't just come out for free so I ended the call. I purchased a condo and needed the cable rerun. A+ stated they could run the cable to the 3rd…read morefloor. They then sold me a service contract to cover the cable and inspect the AC. They showed up and looked at the AC. Told me they no longer had an electrician which is the only reason I called them. They proceeded to try to sell me two AC units when I wanted an electrician which they never provided. Total ripoff. Now, they continue to send me mailings for their crappy services. I have called five times to get removed without success. Do not use them. They are horrible.
