Edmunds Electrical Services - EV charger

So...... I bought an electric car. You know what's next, I need to be able to charge it at home…read more I didn't realize it would be that difficult to navigate through electricians to find one to install an EV charger. Luckily, several of my neighbors have EVs so I just asked one of them. Edmunds was recommended. I communicated with John, via E-mail and we went back and forth for days. We finally honed in on a good day/time for both of us and set forth to get it done. Well, John had an emergency, but I was glad he communicated that with me in advance. I had taken the day off from work and that gave me the opportunity to save that day. On top of that, he accommodated a weekend appointment so I could save my leave. We agreed on an early appointment and we, finally, communicated via text the day of the appointment. I'm big on communications, customer service, and John delivers. We spoke about my charge, he gave me a run down of what he was going to do, and called me to the garage when he needed my opinion on where I'd like to mount the charger. I asked questions, based on my research, and he answered. Overall, the appointment was quick and painless. He mounted the charger where I wanted it. After it was installed I plugged in may car to make sure it worked. He also asked me how much power the car was pulling to make sure everything was everything. It was a good experience and the cost was within the parameters of our agreement. I feel it was reasonable. He did a great job and within an hour he was done. I'll definitely keep his business card handy for my electrian need.

Won't service Generac generators that they didn't originally install! Really?!?!…read more I found CDS on the Generac website as one of the local authorized service providers for Generac. We have a large whole-house Generac unit for the house we recently bought and I called CDS to set up the annual maintenance. However, from the very first words out of her mouth, the rude, snappy, and curt receptionist who took my call lost the business for CDS. Her negative tone and apparent unwillingness to do the basics of her job continued to decline over the next five minutes of that call. I gave her the model and serial number of our unit and she said it was too old to look up. I told her the date on the unit was 2006, and she said our 2006 generator was likely too old to be serviced...Ha!!...and her tone further worsened when she asked if CDS had installed it originally. We bought the house last year--how would I know who installed it nearly 20 years ago? What service company worth its salt would refuse to work on their designated brand just because they had not done the original install. In sharp contrast to this disappointing call, I then called A-to-Z Contracting and provided the same model and serial number, they looked it up in an instant and told me what a great unit I had. A-to-Z scheduled a service call right then at a cost for the annual full service that was less than CDS. I Wonder if the owner of CDS knows how much business this salty employee is costing them? Recommend you stay away from CDS--what other areas are they cutting corners on if their first line interface with the customer is such a poorly managed employee?

Our experience has been disappointing. We called CDS because we had a longstanding problem with…read moreovercrank faults in our whole-house generator. The service in March fixed the problem temporarily, but very soon thereafter we again got the same overcrank fault. They came again in May and this time they identified the underlying problem. (They recommended someone else to do the repair, which is now done.) To our surprise, they have insisted on charging us full price for both service calls even though it seems likely that the problem existed and they missed it the first time.

This is the most professional contractor of any type that I have used during my time as a homeowner…read morefor over 30 years. innovative did such a great job on our first generator that I hired them for our next home too. Our first house to use Innovative was built in 1939, and it was literally a stone castle ( In Baltimore County!). I interviewed several other companies, and none of the others could figure out just how to pipe the generator. Our job turned out to be very tricky due to thick stone walls and very old infrastructure. One very popular company left it up to me to determine where to put the generator outside. They told me it would X dollars per foot, and then they gestured outside, this way and that, told me to decide and left. I asked all of them to tell me how many outlets in my house their generator would cover. Not one other company would tell me in advance of my hiring them. I wanted to give them a list of things I wanted covered, to see what size generator I needed or if the size that most of them recommended would cover my most important outlets, but they all said they didn't handle that at the beginning ( this was going to be a large generator- can't recall exactly- maybe 20kw?) but not a full house generator. That's why I needed them to tell me how much the generator they recommended would cover. Finally I met Innovative. Doug Keller, the owner, is the consummate professional. He agreed to look at my list and explore my house, and he told me exactly what the generator would cover. I saw why the others didn't want to do that. He had to bring an electrician over to test my outlets, but he did so. He also immediately told me where the generator should go. And he was so correct, I realized. He immediately spotted a place outside my garage, where the pipe could come from the gas line in the basement out a, for example, corner and power the generator. And it was a corner hidden so you couldn't see the generator from inside the house ( so we wouldn't have an eyesore). Also, Doug had a generator that no one else was selling. Everyone was telling me not to use Generac, that they fail. The other companies offered me Kohler generators, and they are SO expensive. But Doug used G and E. It has changed it's name now, but it was fabulous. Not only was it cheaper ( believe me though, it is high quality and an investment), but it features load sharing. So we could for example have the A/c on downstairs during the day, and move the A/C to upstairs at night in an emergency. No one else offered that! So we hired Innovative. They excelled in the installation. They excel in the service. We have a twice a year maintenance agreement, which you need because it's a car engine basically that needs to be serviced. But they service you very well. And if you have an emergency, they were the only company to tell me that, if necessary, they would come out at night or weekend. You need that if you are not going to lose your refrigerated food, if the generator fails which they all do at some point. We are on our second generator with Innovative. It was installed perfectly. It is being serviced perfectly. Once or twice it didn't start up, but they talked me through restarting it immediately, and they would have come out to help had I asked. Ours has never failed by the way. Innovative Energy is not only the best generator company out there, but, as I said, the best contractor I have ever used. Paula Himeles

I HATE LEAVING BAD REVIEWS, BUT ITS MY DUTY TO WARN OTHERS ABOUT SITUATIONS LIKE THIS!!…read moreNeeded to get a Generac generator installed. The company I went through, used Clinton Electric for the install. Appointment was set. Estimator from Clinton Electric came out. Did the walk through, told me what I would need,(Some things sounded questionable), he claimed some things needed to be "up to code" and he stated that "A whole house generator is a LUXURY." Recieved the estimate by email..a whopping $18,000 plus. Now I understand that it cost to install a whole house generator, but what I DIDN'T understand, is HOW is it that The Generator cost about $7,600 plus, for a 24,000KW unit...and that meant the INSTALL ALONE, would be OVER $11,000, which I thought was RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED!!! Contacted Clinton Electric via email, was informed that the Estimator would call back the same day, because I requested a copy of the breakdown in prices. Here it is OVER a week later, and NO ONE called. I will be getting the Generator one way or the other, but I will NOT be paying $11,000 just for the install that I was being charged by Clinton Electric Company. I WILL NOT BE USING THEM. Total rip off!! GO ELSEWHERE!! After reading many other reviews, I have noticed the same pattern, where others said that this company was "OVERPRICED." That have also been my experience.
