I've been coming to this office for over 20 years, and my experience has always been excellent. I currently see Melissa Howie, a physician assistant. I started seeing her when it became difficult to schedule appointments with Dr. Kanter, and she has taken just as good care of me. Thanks to the care I've received here, my asthma rarely bothers me anymore--I honestly can't remember the last time I needed to use my rescue inhaler. I also receive allergy shots here, and my allergies rarely cause problems now. In more than 20 years of visits, I've never had an issue with the front office staff. Having allergy flare ups I called this clinic twice during business hours to book an appointment and kept getting their voicemail. So I sent an email request based on their contact us page on their website. I didn't hear back in 24 hours so I called again and finally got somebody on the phone, who cut me off and said "we don't communicate by email." I tried to ask why their email address is prominently published as a way to contact them if they don't correspond that way and she cut me off again and said the domain just requires us to have an email address. Her answer made no sense at all and she didn't understand how publishing an email address for patients to use but not actually answering it as a course of business makes a doctor's office look extremely unprofessional. I have been going to Coastal allergy care for two years. Dr. Porch was great when I met her and I've only seen her one other time. I see the physicians assistant when I go, which is fine. The office staff is horrific, though usually messages they're never returned for the person for what you were leaving the message. The front desk seems to screen calls and not let messages go through you get incorrect information when you call for what they have done. I've been told they have no electronic chart and don't hold onto any documentation you've submitted and they only deal through fax. I don't recommend them for any new patient and I am currently looking for a new allergy care office, don't go there. You'll certainly be ignored, calls will be screened and you'll be lied to. Believe me, I have proof. If I could rate this practice zero for their office staff, I would. read more

I really like young guy who took his time to listen to me , he was extremely caring and loving . He wrote down all the issues . Unfortunately nurse practitioner who saw me asked me " you're not really having all these issues ,are you ?" Yes !!! I do that's why I took my time to fill it out and come see a doctor which I only had nurse practitioner questioning me if I was genuinely suffering. I didn't come to your office just randomly have cough attack. Seriously struggling and needed help . I never had any healthcare professional act in the manner she did. Totally unprofessional. I will definitely go make an appointment at another facility where they would take my health concerns more seriously. I'm at Coastal Allergy in Camarillo. A staff member, Alexis MA/EMT is the person administering my injections. I let Alexis know I don't do well with needles. I asked them to tell me exactly when they'll be giving me the first two. I explained I like to take a deep breath in. To my surprise, I did not feel either injection. I was shocked and told him what my experience was like. He explained that he squeezes hard around the area he's going to inject. Alexis said it dulls the sensation of the needle. In my case, I have NOT FELT the NEEDLE at all! I have had 6 of my 8 shots at this point. Alexis is AMAZING at what he does. Years ago a phlebotomist taught me the "breathing in" trick. Since that day, I have asked everyone to give me a heads up before sticking me. Alexis has a PINCH METHOD that needs to be taught to all who give shots. I will be requesting his PINCH METHOD for life. There is nothing better because you CAN'T feel the NEEDLE! read more

I had a terrible experience. We felt neglected, waited almost 2 hrs for the Dr when we had the first appointment, no review of medical history before the appointment and no follow up. I had the first appointment of the day. Dr. Porch was running an hour late and they let us just sit in the room without knowing what was going on. When I came out of the room an hour after we were taken in they let me know she will be in with us as soonn as she gets there. When she got there she decided to take a different appointment who was scheduled after us first. It was an hour and 45 minutes before we even saw the Dr. I asked her why she took another appointment before us and she said sorry i thought it was going to be a quick one. It really wasnt fair to us. She had no medical history reviewed for our appointment and perscribed us medicine we had already been taking. They preformed a sctracth test but did not inform me that would cost a lot extra. They said they would follow up in a few months. She never called back never offered another appointment never checked in. We felt like she did not even care about us. We got a bill months later and when we discussed what happpened and they completley dropped the ball they wouldnt even offer a penny off the bill. We paid inn full and I let themknow I would be writting a review. I hope you find a Dr that cares about the patients. However in our eperience this is not the one. read more

Terrible listener - starts shaking her head "no" before you're even finished trying to tell her what your concerns are - sort of like a child who is bored and stops paying attention. Very unpleasant physician if you try to ask any additional questions about her initial, instantaneous conclusion. . Unprofessional at best, rude at worst. I do not recommend Dr. Porch-Curran at all. Also, the tech who took my vitals left me with my shirt off to "get gloves" and left the door wide open. Disturbing experience. read more

When requesting a prescription refill at my local pharmacy, I was asked to visit this Office in order to have my prescription refilled. What began as what I thought would be a single Office visit ended up becoming a recurring monthly Office visit for a possible breathing issue... (which never appeared to be a problem to begin with). They prescribed me some medicine, and then I began suffering some negative and dangerous side effects from their prescribed medicine. As a result, I called and requested to speak to one of their doctors immediately over the phone to discuss the issue and possibly stop using the medicine... Guess what?! Rather than talk to me over the phone for a few minutes to talk about the issue and dangerous side effects, they want me to make an appointment to make another in-person visit to their Office ... Now normally, I would expect a reasonable physician to take the call and answer my questions about their prescribed medicine. Instead, it seems like they want me to keep making Office visits, especially for an issue that wasn't problematic to begin with! Geez, I really wonder why they keep asking me to make these Office visits... read more

Totally fine unless you speak with Catarina in the Camarillo office. I've been going to the Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks offices for 2 years with no issues. I was told that I needed a new authorization and I wasn't sure how to go about that, so I called the Camarillo office. Unfortunately Catarina was not in a helpful mood and answered my initial information with "ok?" like I was boring her. She was short and condescending. I'm really disappointed. I ignored the bad reviews, but I seriously regret it. Now I'm stuck with doing my allergy shots at a place that has terrible service in the billing dept. You can't ask any questions without getting a snooty smart-aleck answer. Considering that many bad reviews on Yelp and Google are old, it looks like nothing has or will change so YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. I was struggling for a while with severe allergies. Going to my regular physician didn't seem to help alleviate any of the severe symptoms I had. When I finally did my own research and found coastal allergy care I was excited to start the process. I love the fact that they are very detail oriented with trying to find exactly what can be the cause of your allergies. Many tests are taken from breathing levels, skin test & questionnaires. This made me feel that the accurate amount of information was going to be taken to find anything to make me feel better. The skin allergy test was pain-free and results given right away. The one-star is for this office staff here. I go to the Camarillo office and have seen both Dr. Porch and Derek, one of the PAs. Both were great. As for the front office staff, I've had nothing but issues. On top of that, they're incredibly rude. They're constantly making mistakes with scheduling, insurance authorizations, etc, and if I call and question them about it, they become very rude. Even when the PA admitted it was their office who messed up my appointments (which caused be to pay for a pointless visit), the front desk still blamed it on me and said, "Sorry about your insurance" in a very rude, passive aggressive manner, as if my insurance was the issue. I have great insurance which has never been an issue anywhere else. This place is pretty awful. I've never had such bad service at any other medical establishment and if I didn't desperately need to continue seeing Dr. Porch and Derek for my worsening allergies, I would never go back. read more

I had an initial consultation today. My first phone call to the Camarillo office, I felt that the staff member was so welcoming and helpful. My nurses McKenna and Desare were wonderful!! I felt very comfortable during my allergy test. They kept me well informed of what to expect during this appointment. Was originally referred to Coastal Allergy Care and to see Dr. Kanter. According to my Primary Care Physician he was the best allergy doctor in the area. I had my initial visit with him and it went well, but was a bit frustrated with the initial visit because I couldn't get my allergy test done that day... as I wasn't told to stop taking antihistamines prior to my visit (which was scheduled 3 months in advance). A week and a half later, I saw Dr. Lee-Kim and she gave me the best care from an allergy doctor that I have ever seen. From her bedside manner to her knowledge in the field - the five stars goes to her hands down. I had a skin test as well as patch test, which were both inconclusive for what I initially went in for. She told me to try something as a last resort and that ended up being the cure. I cannot thank Dr. Lee-Kim enough. Without her going to the extra mile, I would still be stuck not knowing how to alleviate some extremely frustrating allergies. read more

I haven't even been inside the office and I am already dissatisfied. The staff who answers the phones are extremely rude. I can tell they're in a huge rush to get off the phone. I just got off the phone with Maria, who cut me off mid sentence. And continuously spoke over me, when I was trying to communicate with her. I have received four voicemails so far today while I'm at work. I have been having to call in each time: yes, I filled out the paperwork yes, I confirm the appointment, mind you both items I have already completed online prior to the appointment. I was requesting to have one phone call, if necessary, to relay all information needed, or even better, a simple check to see if these items were already completed online prior to calling. Please step up the customer service in your call center for the offices or front desk staff. I can choose anywhere to go, I am not cattle, and deserve respect, same as anyone else. Not good coastal allergy... I am keeping the appointment due to excellent reviews on the doctors themselves..we will see how the appointment goes this week.. read more

Whoever answers the phones or does the appointment scheduling is not very friendly. Literally just got off the phone with them because we were referred by our pediatrician. This is our first time even talking to them and the lady was cutting me off anytime I asked a simple question. She seemed annoyed. I'm giving 1 star just because of that phone interaction. This isn't how you want your front office reputation to be. Trust me. We'll see how the rest of our time is with them considering we haven't even had our first appointment yet. I work with patients all the time. I'd never treat anyone like that. Hopefully the rest of the staff has good bedside manner. I'll change my rating if I see any improvements. read more

I go to the Camarillo office. Excellent allergist practice! Same day appointments when I have been ill. Front desk and nurses are all very nice. Doctors are very knowledgeable about latest asthma medications. Dr. Porch has a busy schedule so you have to book way out. However Dr. Lee and Melissa the PA are both good. I have not seen the other doctor but I am sure he is good too. They are also responsive to pharmacy requests and helping me get authorization for one of my medications. Dr. Porch was recommended by my pediatrician over three years ago. My son was 4 at the time with allergies and asthma. He is so well controlled that we have stayed out of the ER for over a year! We also have him on immunotherapy shots and he has improved tremendously. The staff is so gentle, kind and warm! I go to the office weekly and I am always greeted with a warm smile! I was referred to Dr. Porch at Coastal Allergy Care in Camarillo by my ENT 5 Year's ago due to chronic sinus infections and out of control allergies. I finally made it to maintenance with my shots just a few months ago. It took a long time to get where I am today. I am only on medication when the winds blow hard and am doing wonderful while living with the irritants that previously would have sent me to the ER. Over the past 5 years I have spent a great deal of time in the Camarillo office and with her staff. They have always been efficient, kind, friendly and helpful with anything I needed. I have referred both my adult sons, my mother and multiple co-workers to Dr. Porch because of how highly I regard her and her staff. My quality of life has been greatly improved because of her care. I strongly recommend her and this office. They will genuinely care about you and your health. read more

We always enjoy going to this clinic and the quality of the care makes up of the occasional need to wait. Dr. Porch takes her time to provide the best possible care to her patients unlike other MDs who cut you off half sentence and move onto the next patient. I came to this facility because it was in my network. I was introduced to a Dr Kanter who was going to help me with a swollen lip caused by an unknown allergy. This Dr Kanter rambled on and on and on he hardly listened to a word i said. Clearly he is a strong narcissist, loves to talk about how good he is. We finally got down to business and did a bunch of blood work and skin tests. When i returned it was the same thing all over again, Dr Narcissist controlled the conversation, i couldn't get a word in. He had me on so many different meds, he wanted me to stay on them for months. After my third and last visit i stopped all the meds, problem never came back as he suggested it would. This Dr has the worst bedside manner i have ever experienced. I will never go back to this facility. read more

We have been going to Coastal Allergy Care for almost two years for my almost 3 year old daughter under the care of Dr. Christine Lee. Every time we go in for an appointment the nurses and front desk are always friendly and Dr. Lee is also very friendly and thorough. Our daughter has food allergies and Dr. Lee and staff have helped guide us through her testing and care. The experience has helped us become more at ease in navigating through treating our daughter's allergies. The most important part is that our daughter has been very comfortable with Dr. Lee and the nurses and she always leaves the office smiling even when she's had to go through the uncomfortable prick test. Dr. Lee has also been great with answering any follow up questions I have had in a timely manner. Dr Kanter is great. Problem is he's only open 2 days plus one morning half day at each location for allergy shots and they never staff enough people to handle the load. Waiting 30 minutes to get your shot is typical, then you're supposed to wait for 20 minutes after the shot. I asked the nurse when is the best time to come besides mornings (I work before they're open) and the staff couldn't give me an answer and said..well we don't want to rush people. She said the best time to come is at 1. I'm a working person so that doesn't work. The problem isn't the nurses and staff so much as it is the poor management and disrespect for their patients time! read more
