I started seeing her when it became difficult to schedule appointments with Dr. Kanter, and she has taken just as good care of me. Thanks to the care I've received here, my asthma rarely bothers me anymore--I honestly can't remember the last time I needed to use my rescue inhaler. I also receive allergy shots here, and my allergies rarely cause problems now. In more than 20 years of visits, I've never had an issue with the front office staff. Everyone has always been professional, helpful, and friendly. I highly recommend this office and especially Melissa.

So I sent an email request based on their contact us page on their website. I didn't hear back in 24 hours so I called again and finally got somebody on the phone, who cut me off and said "we don't communicate by email." I tried to ask why their email address is prominently published as a way to contact them if they don't correspond that way and she cut me off again and said the domain just requires us to have an email address. Her answer made no sense at all and she didn't understand how publishing an email address for patients to use but not actually answering it as a course of business makes a doctor's office look extremely unprofessional. Fix your website and fix your prospective patient experience! Terrible!

I found the staff to be very friendly and competent, and they always saw me on time. Dr. Verma diagnosed my allergies after four visits with testing, and he prescribed an antibiotic and Flonase, which seems to have cleared things up. In fact, as soon as he read my checked-off form about my symptoms, he knew I was allergic to dust mites at least. I got a $10 anti-mite spray from Bed, Bath and Beyond, and that seems to have been enough to clear up my problems. I would have scored this higher, but Dr. Verma only recommended that I immediately start taking allergy shots. I wish he had given me some recommendations about using OTC drugs or prescriptions first, as I hadn't tried that before. I didn't want to spend five years of my life taking shots, so I've been trying avoidance techniques I got from the internet, and it seems to be going pretty well. That's my only complaint about the doctor, but it changed what should have been five stars to three.

The office leaves patients waiting for antigen injections sitting in the waiting room while the staff is in the back doing who knows what. One would think when they have multiple people waiting, taking time out of their work day to be there, the office staff would do their best to quickly get them in and out. But not at the Verma practice. The staff comes first. If there was another allergist to use in Ventura, I would drop Verma, but unfortunately, they are about the only game in town. It is a shame there are no alternatives.

This was our second visit…read morewith the doctor for my four-month-old son, who has been struggling with severe eczema flare-ups all over his body and scalp. We've tried multiple approaches to identify the cause, so we were hoping for some answers. Today's appointment was a skin check. The nurse applied two test panels and waited 20 minutes for the results. To my untrained eye, it was clear that two spots showed a reaction. When the doctor came in, she reviewed the spots, made a few notes, and then suggested scheduling another appointment three days later. When I asked why we had to wait for the results--especially since she had just looked at the reaction--her response shocked me: she said it was because insurance doesn't pay for her time and that today's visit only reimbursed $10. Not to mention our $50 co-pay. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was painfully clear that the focus was on insurance and money rather than the welfare of my child. I left with a four-month-old baby who now has inflamed spots on his back, and still no answers. I hope no other parents have to experience this kind of prioritization of insurance over patient care.

And never got a solution to help my asthma or allergies. The receptionist was rude for a very very long time, for as long as I could remember and Dr. Ramadas never gave me any treatments to help my asthma or allergies. Yes, she is kind, but all she did was have me do a breathing exercise or test every once in awhile and gave me inhalers which I could have gotten from my general doctor. I ended up stopping my allergy or asthma meds she gave me for years and I got diagnosed elsewhere right away. I'm sad I wasted thousands of dollars over the years to go here and never got any sort of answers or help. Glad this practice is closed.
