I have three words for this place: DIRTY, FRAUD, AND LIARS. I made a big mistake in choosing this place. I went in July and ended up walking out. I had my x rays done in one room. They took me to desk to sign and pay my portion. Then they moved me to a different room to await a dentist. The second room was disgusting. There was BLOOD on the chair, the floor was dirty and there was some white stuff all over the table on the left side of the room. I turned around and walked out. When I was outside in the parking lot, an employee wanted to know why I left. I told her what I saw. She wanted me to share it with the office manager so i came back inside and told her the condition of the room before leaving again. I never saw the dentist or had any contact with dentist. I went to a completely different dental practice 2 days later. When I checked my insurance website for claims later on, I saw where Coast Dental Brandon submitted a claim for TWO procedures. They submitted a claim for oral evaluation, and one for x rays. I had the x rays done but never did an oral evaluation. My insurance automatically paid both. I immediately contacted my insurance and let them know I never had an exam. The office manager admitted over the phone to two different agents that I WALKED OUT and WASN'T SEEN BY THE DENTIST but they won't refund the money. Billing for a procedure you didn't perform is MEDICAL FRAUD. Office manager told the 2nd agent that I owed them money (huh) so that is why they kept the overpayment. I owe? All of my contact information is unchanged. To this day, I still have never received a bill or anything from them saying I owe. Every doctor\dentist that sent me a bill shows my account balance as zero. I call them liars because this same office manager later claimed my insurance never paid them but they cashed the check. Then they claimed they got the form to refund the overpayment from the phony procedure. This matters because my insurance only pays for one exam a year. I paid the new dental place for x rays (expected) AND an oral evaluation. Both were out of pocket. I only had 1 oral evaluation done and it was not at Coast Dental. Do yourself a favor and stay away. The staff here are like used car sales men. They try to scare you into paying more than what you actually need. I was told I had to pay extra for a deeper clean and when I explained that I just wanted a regular cleaning they told me "we have to protect our license. I can't let you have anything less than a deeper clean". The biggest load of BS I have ever heard! The dentists responsibility is to ADVISE the patient on what they should get done not FORCE them to do it. I don't know what's wrong with dentists these days but this place has been the worst. I have no complaints about my treatment at the facility or the staff. They were very kind and attentive but as someone who doesnt have insurance there's no reason why a wisdom tooth extraction should put you back $650 and that's with discounts applied. I'm comfortable but if you're someone who isn't and are without dental insurance I highly recommend going elsewhere based on price of treatments alone. I went to them years ago and had the same tooth but on the opposite side removed for just under $300 so I thought even if there was a price jump after 4 years I'd still be okay with the price. Care is good, however if they give you partials, then they schedule a cleaning immediately after. Taking the partial out was tricky, then they put some pink stuff on a q tip and rub around the new extractions, they want $20 out of pocket charge. When I got home, I tried to put the partial in, it hurt so in removing it I incurred 2 loose teeth. They wouldn't see me in until I paid the $20. I'm on disability and money is very tight. It took me 6 months to be able to pay the bill. Now, all my teeth have to be removed and dentures are to be measured. On my left side I have 1 tooth, in back top. I saw the specialist, of course, $90 out of pocket price. He is awesome . I was in the office for 3 hours. They got all the numbers from my insurance company, he removed the teeth on left bottom. My insurance paid and I received the EOB'S. I owe them nothing. Clearly states that patient responsibility is 0. I'm receiving 3 text messages a week about me owning them $620. I'm really upset with the front management. I have requested 8 phone calls back to discuss this and they don't return my call. I had to block them to get the messages to stop . Now I have to find a different place to go. They are money gready and that is all that matters to them! read more

I've been a patient at this office for a few years now and the care has great. The quality has also been great. The front desk personnel can do better. Not all of them are unprofessional. However it only takes one bad experience. Who wants to talk to anyone who's unprofessional, with no care, and rude? Noone! Do better. Usually I don't review services since I totally trust the services, but not in this case, since I went there I had the sensation of " better run from here " but I wanted to end my misery so I stayed ...it was proven correct, I should have run. #1- I had make the appointed online an when I got there I wasn't on the list. #2-The lowest patient support at the front desk, one of the ladies (the Dominican one ) was calling patients "sweetie" . They were amused among them like no issues at all, while I was due to pay after the extraction, they took for ever to process the payment with a Card the lady who process payments is super slow. #3- I had never ever felt so much pain in my life when the extraction happened, the anesthesia did not get well and I actually swallowed liquid, I tasted it which I wasn't supposed to feel the taste righty? I asked the doctor and he said it was ok. 4- They wanted to extract a mole that I have not issue with but I firmly declined it. 5- I never asked for a dental bridge and the wanted to sell one. 6- The charged my insurance, they charged me in cash 264 USD and they sent me a Bill for over 1200 USD. These "dental mills" sometimes dont end up being the best. My mother had a couple crowns done here that were going to end up requiring even more work. On one and our last visit, we came in to address a concern with one particular tooth. When the dr saw her she didnt not even address the concern we came in with. When she appeared as if she was going to get up to leave, I brought up our concern and that this was the reason we were there. In the end it just seemed as if my mom was going to keep dishing out money for her teeth with no clear end. Just awful. Please save yourself the trouble! Here is why. #1 waited over 1 hr to be seen, even with appointment for my new patient exam. And so did the people in the waiting area with me. The seat tech apologizes and said the front staff missed to hand them my chart! #2 I waited another 20 min after seeing the tech to see the Dr who was very brief. 5min tops. Who also pointed my teeth were in great condition, but later pressed me into a $350 cleaning #3 the rooms were disgusting. Never seen a medical facility get away with such low standards. On 2/18/20 I went to this location with my daughter just terrible front desk customer service i mean dont waste your money here kind of service i was filling out paper for a new patient. I guess my insurance card was something from a different world or something that the short African American women at the front desk couldn't help herself to get everyone involved and I mean everyone. I would think if you do this everyday you should be good at retrieve different insurance policy number not the case with her after going back and forth with her. I noticed she was being just condescending about the whole ordeal so i decided to just leave I can't see the point on spending money at a location that doesnt even know the basics of customer service you have to value your CUSTOMERS period. I had been coming to this Coast in Brandon before the pandemic, and had reservations about returning but did.which was the wrong decision I could of ever made. I'm just wondering has all Tampa Dental offices just going down hill and don't care about there customers. This Coast regardless of them getting new staff whatever they do not care about their patients. They have you waiting for your appointment a ridiculous amount of time for your appointment over an hour. Ask questions the front desk little blonde girl, gives u nothing but attitude. Like really, I've been sitting patiently waiting and to give me attitude when I ask a question. They do not value other peoples time. There unprofessional don't give an update or say anything. I ordered coast aligners from them which has taken over 2 months they never contacted me regarding this. The place is really dirty. English is the second language. They botched my root canal. I only went here because it's the only place that took my insurance and had availability. I was shocked at the old equipment and what appears to be filth in my opinion. They did crown work before ever doing a cleaning and then when I asked for my cleaning they told me that the dentist ordered a deep cleaning and couldn't do a regular cleaning. I was quite upset, I didn't need a deep cleaning for the gums because I didn't have the problems that would require this. I went to Oakfield Dental and they not only performed a GREAT cleaning but they also verfied that I didn't need the deep cleaning that would have cost me 107.00 out of my own pocket. Awful, just awful the way that the Dr Chen He treated us. We spent an hour in the waiting room past the appointment time, then get to the medical assistant who is trying to do her job, while the doctor yells back and forth at her. Finally get into a room and the doctor is in there for all of 2 min and says I have to go I have other patients, well excuse the He"" out of us, but we were patients as well who waited over an hour to be seen. I came in for tooth pain and all they did was file down my fillings they did and gave me a prescription for motrin and a referral to an oral surgeon. They refused to take X-rays. I went to another dentist the next week for the same pain to only find out I needed a root canal on the same tooth they put a filling in and filed down. When we arrived and signed in they said "we are running a little late" well to me that means about 15 minutes, not the 1 hour later that it took for them to call my daughter back. Worst dental experience I have ever had. They were good enough to squeeze in a cleaning for me on short notice however. Immediately I was taken for x-rays which is fine know my dental plan they are covered. But they " Had to do different one that cost $26 that they do not cover. It was a full mouth panromantic . said ok if we need to I figured this would be my dental office. So after a full scale of all kinds of diagnostics I'm waiting and the dentist appears on a TV right in front of you like 2 ft away 60 in tv. Here's where it get bad. The dentist says you have some plaque between your teeth and you need deep cleaning I said ok makes sense. I'm 40 btw. But then she says you have a cavity. I asked : Can it be filled? Answer: No no its to close to the nerve. Remember I'm here for basic cleaning . The dentist was using the x-rays and pictures to diagnose me never actually doing a visual. So she says you need a root canal and crown. I replied well i am not aware of any holes in my teeth but if you say so. I have the $$ but I believe that it can be filled and 2nd opinion. They ignored my question about extraction and filling . Restate I need a root canal but no actual plan. I said I just want my cleaning today and I will think about it. So they put me next to the office manager while they were figuring out how to answer the conflicting answer of do I need Root Canal or deep cleaning. They refused to do my routine cleaning but charged my insurance for all the x-rays they performed. They ended up coming with a treatment plan of a deep cleaning periodontal. Also covered by insurance but I have to pay $260 for basically a deep cleaning. I guess she was not happy, and I admit I was being forward with her because I could not get a answer from anyone. I agreed to pay the $260 and she said I'm not going to treat you! I said wait I just waited almost 2 hours for this so called treatment plan that just has a deep cleaning for $260 where's the root cancel and all that? Replied you stated that you just wanted cleaning! "Maim why would I wait 2 hours if I did not want the treatment plan from dentist. So final part: I had enough, they billed my insurance for all the x-rays, never gave me a treatment plan, dentist never even looked other then pics and the refused to do the cleaning after I agreed to pay. It escalated and when I left. My phone rang from a Deputy she called the police and accused me of coming around counter and pushing her. A complete lie And even more disgusting other employee state said same false statements. They threw a cell phone that hit me in leg as I walked out and a thermos cup in the parking lot bc i picked up the phone and took it w me. To make a point of how they were acting then she was running me down to get her phone which i handed gently to her, as soon as I turned my back a aluminum thermos hit me in back. So I was the one battered not her. I was not in the total right because I got a little mad when I know someone is playing me.. I never get angry like that I explained to the deputy that I never pushed her or even touched or even went to other side of counter. I explained to the deputy that I was angry and hot more then usual bc my grandmother is suffering from liver failure and I am taking care of her. I would hope to God that she was also having a bad day or something causing the actions. I have decided that God taught me a lesson when it feels wrong leave. As far as her pressing false charges. I trust in the Lord. I will not make any threats. I wish it never happened. But it did. I never said a curse word or derogatory statement. . God always handles these things and if she calms down then maybe she will realize that the whole situation is best forgotten. pending state attorney action against this facility as of 8-1-2017. I paid over $4,000.00 and my insurance paid over $2,000..00 for a full mouth upper bridge, only to get bridge that looks like and feels like plastered teeth instead of porcelain teeth. I insisted on the "B1" product and instate got products that looked like "A1". low and behold to get a whole upper bridge that at first they were too big, got them chiseled/ removed and then end up with baby teeth, round bottle cap teeth that couldn't or didn't chew my food, there were 3 to 4 shades of teeth, and teeth overlapping each - all of this complaint to dentist doctor, office manager and their chair side assistant and they couldn't fix the problem. They even had the lab technician to come only to add to the problem and not resolved. The dentist doctor there is not friendly nor is not interested on the clients but only getting the job done (chiseling teeth) and fly out the room so he doesn't have to answer questions, instead he has his little chair side assistant to do all the dirty work. The office manager will tried to get every penny out of the clients. I had a coupon for $649 per tooth and insisted on the coupon price and kept being ignored of the price of the coupon , until I had to call the corporate office on Boy Scott, Tampa FL to explain that I had a coupon and wasn't being acknowledge ($649 per tooth), office manager wanted to charge (over $800.00) and wasn't until the corporate office call that I got the coupon price. I called the district manger at the corporate office and she was suppose to transfer my file to the Riverview coast dental office and she never did. After waiting for a little more than 2 weeks I finally got a hold of the district manager and coming to find out she had not gotten in touch with the Riverview office. I tried to call the refund department but seems that they have caller id and they saw my name and refund department never answered the phone. I believe my case has circulated around the office and everyone has completely avoid me and my hundredth messages I have left. Till today I do not have the proper upper full mouth bridge and my health insurance and me are out of over $6,000.00. I don't recommend coast dental for cosmetic work nor Orthodontics. I am a firm believer in second chances differences in opinion and communication differences, however I strongly warn anyone considering coast dental to run in another direction. This office, its area manager, and corporate office have the absolute worst customer service i have ever encountered. The work that has been done with irreversible damage can only be described or visualized in nightmares. Awful and life changing. I will never smile again thanks to coast dental. I have had trouble since starting my treatment plan which has been incomplete since early April. A service that has been completely paid for. The office refuses to complete it, the area manager did reach out to me ONCE told me I had several options and asked me to make a decision and call her back. I have left more than 30 voice mails for her and also several attempts at the corporate office, leaving many voice mails as they do not take calls the only live person you are able to speak with is an operator which has advised me it is documented on my records that I have called many times and she will leave ANOTHER message on my behalf. The dentist fractured my tooth and could not remove it all, so they quietly ushered me out of the office right away with a referral to get it fixed someplace else. My insurance company was billed for the full procedure which caused a weeks worth of confusion and pain until I got another approval to go in for an additional surgery. IMHO The staff is rude and Dr Cauhill has the bedside manor of Bill Cosby; when you wake up you are drugged and have already been screwed then he is pushing you out the door. read more

A recent reviewer highly recommends hygienist James Estes here and I felt the need to respond. He grossly overestimated my need for a "deep dental cleaning," wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars and subject me to invasive gum irrigations. I had two second opinions and both were shocked as I just needed my regular annual cleaning for $75 with no laser invasion. None of this is surprising as the office is unprofessional, dirty (even some equipment is grimy -- I couldn't believe it!), and obviously a grist mill for low-income, disabled people like me whose Medicaid insurance claims to cover annual exams and cleanings at this office and others in the Coast Dental chain. (when I called Medicaid to report this office the representative said they had many complaints but nothing they could do about it as they were contracted). I've visited this facility multiple times over the years and the staff, even though they may change from time to time, are always so bright, friendly, and work so well with each other. My recent visit was to have a deep cleaning with my hygienist James Estes and it has been at least a year and a half when i had my 15min consultation with him but he remembered me like i saw him yesterday and that really made a huge difference in my visit. He was very patient with me when i would feel slight pain and tried to make my visit as pleasant as he could. I should have known when they canceled new patient appointments the same day. The place is pretty run down. The staff is very unprofessional. Estimates up front did not agree with charges to be charged on date of service. When we complained, they cut price 50%. Dr. Chen He at Coast Dental Brandon, was so unprofessional and seemed very incompetent. The appointment time was 8:30 am and the dentist was walking around the office talking and drinking her cup of coffee instead of getting the day stated. We were not called back until after 9 am. She caused more anxiety for my daughter by making provide her temp, but then she did not know what a normal temp range was. Then since I did not pay $85 for an optional antibiotic that was not needed she refused to complete the service in one visit. She argued back and forth with me instead a reassuring me this was an appropriate course of action. Although, the office has a sign saying "we love your reviews" when I made a comment about making a review she refused to complete the root canal on my daughter. So the whole morning was a waste. I have gone to different Coast Dental offices for over 9 years. All offices are not the same. But getting to a good office is totally worth it. One thing about my dental office in Brandon is I have an excellent hygienist James Estes who is meticulous about my cleanings--I get four a year for periodontal. They are not cheap but Coast accepts many lower cost prepaid dental plans you should find the care very affordable. My dentist is Joel Caudil is a partner in the practice. Some times dentists change it is great if you can get a practice partner who at Coast because they will be there for the long term. read more

I go to this office and i always have JAMES ESTES as my hygienist. He is always happy in explaining to me what he is doing and what is happening on my tooth. He is very careful and I leave the office feeling refreshed. It's worth going to a place having James as my hygienist. I tell my co workers in the Hardrock to come to this office. Thank you James!
