The quaint little theaters and friendly staff bring us back to a time before large box theaters but with the modern quality movies. I can't say enough good things about this theater. Here is a local icon in Fort Bragg, this theater has been around for as long as I can remember. I have been told to head to the movies on Tuesday as they have deals that can save money for a family. I love love love this old fashioned style movie theater that throws me back to "the good old days" every time I walk in the door. Best part is the seating is excellent and very clean, movie quality is great for such a tiny theatre and just a fun way to spend an evening out with my hubby. It would be fun to see some kind of foodie/movie kind of events there,, the place has so much fun potential as a community gathering spot interacting with movie themed evenings. Regardless of any changes besides maybe updating the popcorn butter,, I love the place. We have just moved here and plan on spending future date nights there. read more

What do you do in Fort Bragg at night? Jamie W. and I didn't have a clue since we aren't much into the small town bar scene. I just keep picturing a lot of wrist-wrestling over a pack of Pall Malls. Well, there's always cable back at the motel. No, we decided to go to the movies after dinner in what appears to be the only movie theater complex in town, maybe the entire Mendocino Coast. It's no spacious, state-of-the-art multiplex even though there are four screens in this retro-feeling establishment. It actually reminds me of one of those porno theaters in the early 70's when guys would come in wearing just their raincoats. OK, maybe it's more like watching a movie in someone's garage but with slightly nicer chairs. It has the acoustics of a garage because you can hear a conversation six rows away from you. There were 48 seats in our theater (...Jamie W. counted between yawns), so I'm frankly not sure if that makes it one of the bigger ones. We came to see "Just Go With It" since we wanted mindless entertainment during a stress-free weekend. The movie managed to be at least mindless, but I was happy to see the showing was free of the parade of pre-show commercials. There were only two previews to sit through. Hmmm, I just don't get Adam Sandler. read more

Small town movie theatre with first run screenings. Only 4 screens but with upgraded seating. First showing is usually at 4, and last one at 7. During the summer the hours get extended to evening screenings. Every Tuesday is Tightwad Tuesday when seeing a movie is half off ($6), except for a star attraction. The concessions are manned by a team of local high schoolers. $5, gets you a "kiddie meal" of popcorn, small soda and a small halloween pack of either m&ms or skittles. Everyone knows movie theatres make their money from concessions. You can't bring a backpack. They have $2 movie posters at the door. Once got the new Blade Runner poster for a friend. read more

I'm staying in town for a few days and I was very happy to see that Tron Legacy 3D was playing. Most of the smaller towns in the area only had it in 2D or weren't showing it at all so this was very impressive for Fort Bragg. There are only 4 screens and it's not really stadium seating but the seats are comfortable, tickets are reasonably priced, the owners are friendly, but the concession stand is cash only but you can pay via credit card for your tickets which is odd but oh well. Since it's an older arena, our movie blacked out in some areas but considering I wasn't really into Tron I didn't care much. I guess I would have if I liked the movie. Who knows. read more

Older theater, no stadium seating, but has newer style rocker chairs with leather seats, good crisp digital picture and crystal clear sound. What else do you need? (Appears they have 3D ability, though neither of my showings had that as an option.) People mention the theater being small, I saw two movies, both in theater 2, which was pretty large, so maybe some of the other screens are? There are 4 total. read more

Oh, it's a small town theatre with old seats but it's inexpensive and usually has at least one film I'll see. Around the holidays it does cater to kids. I'm just so glad I can go out to the movies when visiting the Mendocino area. read more

We had a similar experience with the passes. When we got to the theater we talked to the owner by phone but they would not honor the tickets either. We had 20 people. Ultimately we paid for the tickets because we scheduled the night around the movie. We spent a fortune at the concession. All money that would not have been brought in if we did not come in. Our team played during the matinee so it would have been impossible to come early. I told them that it did not say on the phone recording or on the passes themselves that passes would not be honored for Big DaddY. I could understand not accepting them For Star Wars because they did say that on the recording as well on the box office wall. We were the only people in the theater. What s the use of giving passes. Seriously write on the pass that it is only good for matinee and avoid all the drama. Shame on you read more

If you like thrillers, comic-book heroes, sequels, horror movies, and children's animation, this is the place for you. If you like foreign films, documentaries, and movies that make you think, I'd suggest you go elsewhere, but...there's nowhere else to go. Once in a while, typically in late August or early September, they might have a couple of outlier, "higher brow" movies, but you have to go the first week, because odds are they won't be there another. I'm glad the theater is there at all, but I really wish they would designate one of the four screens to better programming, even if for just two or three nights a week, or even just for matinees. Waited to see the movie "IT" and No AC BE PREPARED TO ROAST LIKE TURKEY on thanksgiving smh husband and I had to literally LEAVE because it was so hot!! Our candy even melted and with a theatre where every seat is just about filled. Waste of money and our time on a vacation! read more

Completely confused by the negative reviews. We just saw Star Trek 3d at the theaters, and frankly we almost didn't go, even though it was the most convenient place for us, because yelpers had so many negative things to say. What gives? Sound system was great. Seats were very comfortable. Bathrooms, while old, were clean. Employees were friendly. There were signs about new projector and sound systems, so maybe it used to be stuck in the stone age. No more. Didn't love the movie (!) but the theater was great. read more

Coast Cinema has completely re -done all the seating in the theatre. More comfortable seating with reclining seats and more leg room. Now all left to be done is to up grade the projection. Very archaic and behind the latest in digital screening. Still using old analog. Time to upgrade to blue ray quality! read more

I see movies here when I'm in town. They project them on a big white screen. It's not enormous. I guess everything is relative. Compared to some screens, it might be considered small. read more

This place would only get one star, buy since it is the only first run movie theater on the Mendocino coast... Yea you are stuck with it. So maybe it should get 3 stars just for being available... Zero stars would be more appropriate. Unfortunately we did not get to see a movie tonight because theatre staff, Nancy, would not accept our complimentary movie passes due to the fact our movie time was not a matinee. There is no note on the passes indicating any restrictions. We asked if they could at least let us pay the difference between the matinee and full price. Nancy would not work with us nor ask the manager and instead turned away all of our business and we were left with 12 disappointed kids. Poor customer service and business in general! read more

I was up in Fort Bragg this weekend visiting my dad and decided to check out a movie (Arrival). This theater is so pleasant. The box office staff were very nice and fast. The line was out the door and they did the best they could to get everyone out of the rain as quickly as possible. The popcorn was fresh and the snack bar staff were very friendly. I also thought it was cute that they had the front window decorated for the holidays. Not to mention the ticket prices are unbeatable. And they have a 3-D screen. I was pleasantly surprised to find a relatively small, clean, well run theater when we were staying in Fort Bragg. The employees are friendly and courteous. The prices are reasonable, even at the snack bar. The theatre seating was comfortable both times we have been there , even for a tall guy like me. The theaters may be small, but I enjoy not having to deal with outrageous crowds of people while watching my movie. Charming and quirky theater, great to see it isn't run by some big cooperation. This theater is one of the reasons we moved to Fort Bragg! We've been going to this theater on vacations for a long time. The building is older (it's Fort Bragg - part of the charm!) but the equipment works well, and the seats have been steadily upgraded. The staff are friendly, the place is clean (especially the rest rooms) and the concessions reasonably priced and fresh. I don't know what the negative reviewers were expecting, but we have always been pleased. We are from the I-80 corridor, and know what big-city theaters are like, and this one measures up. If you're looking for a movie, including the latest first-run offerings, check out the Coast Cinema. They run four theaters, and have been replacing seats in some of them with very comfortable and roomy loge-like rockers. Sometimes the sound can be too loud, especially during the pre-movie advertisements (read previews), but this is balanced by more than fair prices, including Tight-wad Tuesdays. The owners try to balance the offerings to include family, teen, horror, animation, and art-house movies: a real service to the wide-ranging community that lives here. The owners are also very clearly interested in movies, and this keeps them trying to get the very best offerings they can. A good fair movie house. Recommended highly. read more

Yea its not to bad, very small and very few people who actually go. Many times we have gone theirs maybe 5 people in the audience. Kind of like a private viewing. Only the newest remodeled room, think its 4, has new comfortable seats. The rest of the rooms put your butt to sleep. Staff is nice, usually young kids. read more

I wanted to take my Deaf Teen to the movies when I moved from the Bay area last summer. I went to the theater and asked if we could get a close captioned screening schedule. Apparently, in our digital age it is still not an option at this theater. THEY DO NOT EVER HAVE ANY CLOSED CAPTION OPTIONS FOR DEAF PEOPLE is what I was told. I left my name and phone number for the owner to discuss possible options. I AM STILL WAITING. As a business owner it is your responsibility to provide the same level of service to all of your customers. Right now YOU ARE REFUSING TO SERVE THE DEAF CITIZENS OF YOUR COMMUNITY. Perhaps you are unaware that this is DISCRIMINATION. Reflect on how your policy would apply if you refused to serve other marginalized minority groups in this fashion. I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, as I am sure that you did not realize this. However, now you know, a minimal effort would resolve this issue of discrimination towards one entire group of people. Will you be one more corporate oppressor or will you step up and live by the measures of equality that this nation was founded on? read more

my friends come down to fort bragg every year, this year we wanted to try something different so we chose to go to this movie theatre. the selection of movies is awful and the theatre is so small. this place is run down. not only this but the employees are so rude. this was the biggest problem that I had with this place. we were being loud during the PREVIEWS of the movie and got rudely told to be quiet. The only people in the theatre was us and like three other people. And let me point out it was during the previews not the actual movie and then we were waiting in the lobby for our friends and an employee rudely asked us if we were from fort bragg in a way as to ask what are you doing here? the employees at this they're are extremely rude and the selection of movies are just as bad. I definitely would not recommend this place! read more

i work there for a lil over a year and they have updated almost everything they now acept cardes at the snack bar and have a 3d projector in all theater (dosent mean all movies are 3d) they have replace the seats in 2 out of the 4 theaters (maybe they redid the others as well) the popcorn is to die for and the prices are prety good for a small town i hope this help read more
