The small theater with the lounge chairs is so comfortable and cozy! Screen and sound quality A+!

Smallest theater I've ever been This theater is located in the town of Willits. It has three movie screens in the building. We watched The Meg in an evening show and the price was fairly cheap at $9 a person for general admission. Don't expect a chain of movie theaters with multiple screens or reclining seats & self-service ticketing kiosks. This is a small town movie house with friendly service and a nice smile from the young people working at the theater. Pay for tickets at the outside window and they will buzz you in. As soon as you're inside the theater the concession stand and snack bar is right there in front of you with just a few steps. Inside the movie theater is very clean with new chairs. The red chairs (or was it maroon?) do not recline but they are comfy. TRIVIA: Ever wondered why movie theaters have red seats? It's because red is the first color that is lost to our sight in low-light conditions... anything red virtually disappears once the house lights go down. The movies showing at the time were pretty current. The Meg was only on its second day after its release date. Other two movies showing were Christopher Robin and Mission Impossible. I love the spacious leg room in between rows of seats, the aisles are wide as well. The theater was not full on a Saturday evening, very nice date night with the hubby. Very cozy environment and super friendly staff that you can always tell are super happy to be there. Also much more affordable movie tickets than anything else you'd find in Mendocino or the surrounding counties. I tried out their new 21 and up theater two days before it became just 21 and up, and the reclining seats are awesome, especially if you want to sit near the front without breaking your neck. I can't drink but a theater with no annoying children or babies??? 10/10. Can't wait to be allowed in there again in a few months haha. Also best fountain drinks. One of the only theaters that actually has Dr. Pepper instead of Mr. Pibb LOL. read more

The owners have worked so hard over the years to make the Noyo Theater a quality 1st run cinema! One of the 3 theaters has reclining seats now. The owners are constantly working with their community to provide the movies that are in demand locally. Willits is lucky to have the Noyo Theater as well as the other local shops in our area. read more

Dropped in here around Halloween to see Paranormal Activity 3 with my sis and her husband. This is a tri-plex with the feel of being built a few decades ago. The theater our show was in was fairly small, basic, and acceptable. The tiny Redwood-y town of Willits is lucky to have a decent theater like this as an entertainment option. read more

The Noyo Theater has been around for decades and decades - since the 40s, providing quality cinema entertainment for the community. Its gone through its ups and downs over the years, and the new owners are working to improve and continue its tradition of bringing some decent films into the little lake valley area. There is not a tremendous amount to do in the town, after sunset and this three screen theater has provided an entertainment outlet to the community for it seems like ever, and its good to see it still up and running. The Noyo often shows independent and documentary films instead of mainstream movies. It supports the community in which it is a part of and even though it is small and basic in comparison to the big mega-plexes in cities - this little theater outshines a lot of them. On a side note: As others have mentioned, they use nutritional yeast on their popcorn (its a nor-cal thing) instead of the whole salt/butter thing - its better for you and tastes great! Had to tell ya-- after 1 month of the movie "Julie & Julia' being released, it is NOW showing at the Ukiah theater! Will wonders never cease. Now I'd like " Extract" to get here, [ isn't Jason Bateman adorable?] but that's a real stretch. Anyway, it gives me hope that certain movies will eventually arrive, if not premiering on their release. read more

We love our local theatre. There isn't no much to do in willits for the youth and the theater is kid/family friendly.

A fabulous little 1940's theater. Three screens showing recent releases as well as independent film series. I regularly drive 20 miles to enjoy this little gem of a theater. An excellent value for the entire family. (as of 11/2011 price for admission $7.50, matinee price $5.50, snack bar small but very reasonable). read more

Andrew H. has summed it up well. Willits is a small town, so it is not unusual at the theater to hear conversations such as, "Didn't know you were coming. Let's sit together and go to dinner after." It's not unusual to find people from Ukiah 20 miles south who've come to see the independent and art films the Ukiah theater doesn't show. Restrooms are clean. Snack bar is small and has the usual items. Parking is easily available on the street and one small near-by municipal lot. Come early enough to eat at the Purple Thistle a short distance away. read more

We moved to Willits from the Bay Area three years ago and the Noyo has been the best! We love the opening music and community advertising. The popcorn is delicious and it always has a terrific selection of current movies. I hope it will continue to do well for many years to come. read more

Dosnt quite deserve a four star but not bad enough for a three. 3.5 for me. While convenient and affordable to have a quaint tri plex in town many movies (except the blockbusters) take weeks often a month to get movies in. By then I will have gone out of town. But nice staff and I appreciate having nutritional yeast for my popcorn. Great local values but the seats start to ache for any longer than average films. read more

I love this theater. Really nice kids working there (mostly high school students, from what I can tell). Popcorn is fresh and they have brewers yeast to top it with if you like! yum :) They did a good job keeping the old theater feel when it was remodeled. I love it here. Had a movie mess up once and not only did they offer a free pass for future use but they offered me my money back and said I could watch one of the other films showing that night. Great place and I have seen them ask one idiot to leave for cellphone use. HUGE plus in my book! read more

Was not impressed. Not only were the staff not very customer service like but the popcorn was stale, the bathroom was dirty, and overall was the worst experience I had. Also not to mention the pricing of everything was just terrible! I'll take my business elsewhere! read more

It's small movie theater with big time movies, at good price. Best is the popcorn, with side bar to flavor your popcorn. Fun place to go.

I will never be stepping foot in this theatre again thanks to the owner. I went to see Avengers Endgame last night and when I asked her to help me (not knowing she was the owner) with a rude customer that moved my jacket and took my seat while I was in the bathroom/concession stand. After the customer was increasingly rude and swore at me she went to his defense. I eventually gave up and said I don't want to sit next to this guy and she continued to dig her heels in and then said, and I quote "Do you want to buy this theatre? I'll sell it to you right now.I'd be happy to sell you this theatre! I AM SO SICK OF CUSTOMERS!". She went her way and I went mine but her worker Shannon, who knows me, called me over and we were talking about what happened when the owner came back and started in on me again so much so that Shannon stepped in between us when Lois took a few steps towards me and Shannon said "Alright, that's enough. Come on, lets go." and started to escort Lois out of the theatre all while Lois was saying sarcastically "I'm sorry, I guess I'm an asshole. I guess I shouldn't deal with customers because I'M the asshole". To add another level of worry, on one of my bathroom breaks I overheard the employees behind the concession stand complaining about her. Since she is so sick of customers I will make her happy by not visiting the theatre ever again and taking my business elsewhere. I love Willits and love supporting it but when stuff like this happens it makes it hard for me to continue to support local business. read more

This is a quaint, small theater that's a throwback to the 1980s, complete with Bill and Ted working the concession stand. One of the guys was sweeping the floor with the wrong end of the broom, which was hilarious. The price is right at $8.50 to see a movie. My seat was broken, and people were talking through the whole movie, otherwise I might have given it a higher rating. read more

I have been a Noyo theater fan for 34 years. It has not always been as pleasant as it is now. The new owners are very community and local business minded which adds to the joy of supporting our theater. Besides the variety of movies they offer I am a big fan of popcorn with nutritional yeast. I love this theater, I've been going for years. But last night, I was very disappointed. I live 30 miles to the north of Willits, and early in the day I had gotten online to check movie times. I wasn't sure if I'd remembered them correctly, so right when I got off work, I called their information line there at the theater. The times listed there were not what I remembered seeing online, and because of the time difference, I didn't go to the movie I wanted to go to out of fear for being late. I re-checked online this morning, and the times I'd remembered were the right times. I could have made it to the movie, but thanks to the wrong information provided by the theater, I didn't even try. read more

I've gotta be honest, I think this theater is overrated. Being a local, I've visited this theater on numerous occasions, but only because it was more convenient than driving to Ukiah. While the locals are fond of it (it's better than nothing, and it elicits a certain sense of nostalgia), it has a lot of issues. For starters, finding parking -- while not hard -- is a bit awkward. There is no dedicated parking lot like at the theater in Ukiah; you either have to park in back at the end of a dark ally (which hasn't been paved since the '40s), find street parking, or use a empty nearby parking lot. The lobby is cramped and doesn't feature anything noteworthy, and there is only one theater room worth using: the larger one with the nostalgic artwork. The other restrooms...er... theaters are far too small. (In fact, we used to call ahead to find out which theater a movie was being played in, and if it was one of the smaller rooms we wouldn't bother.) While it may just be my bad luck, I've noticed a lot more disruptive youth in the Willits theater than at the Ukiah theater. I don't know if they just lack respect for the experience because it's cheap, or because it's a dirty old theater, or because there is just more poverty and Willits and these kids never learned to show respect for others. Honestly, the only reason to visit this theater is because you live in Willits and it's more convenient than driving to Ukiah. read more
