Although the 2018 lineup wasn't my personal favorite, (minus Beyonce, she killed it) the operations side of Coachella this year was seamless. Getting to our car camping spots seemed faster than ever before. I remember staying for hours trying to get in in previous years. This year, probably less than 30 minutes! In the camp site, it was nice to see that bathrooms were cleaned, and trash was emptied on the regular. As for showers, the men's line went by super fast. The longest I waited for a shower was only 20 minutes. Coachella really figured it out! As for the festival itself, I loved that they moved the Sahara tent! Moving it from that corner to the front makes it so spacious! I remember in previous years we would have that mentality that once you go in the tent, you're stuck in there forever! Good luck getting out lol. As always, I appreciate that water is only 2 bucks. Water is so vital to the festival! Overall, the way things were ran at Coachella this year were excellent. Overcrowded. Since they let in 125k per weekend up from 100k. Don't ever think about laying down. Nope not more. You gonna get stomped to death like Walmart on Black Friday. Not enough water refill stations. Many people this year in 2018 drank from the hand-washing stations that kinda looked like the water refill stations. Like direct bottle opening to the faucet. The bathrooms are portapottys! SO much fecal death going. Norovirus anyone? There were no signs that said do not drink here and only once, on the last day, did a security guard say we shouldn't drink from there and it's recycled water. I was like "I guess I'm already dead. This is like the Vietnam War, I gotta get my body used to the bacteria if I'm gonna be here for a bit." I walked 12.5 miles one day according to my steps app. I'm tryna get 10,000 a day not 30,000! This ain't the John Muir trail! All I've eaten is a corn dog and two Heineken lights and I'm supposed to have enough calories for this? Also they only sell Heineken beer cause they sold out to the most random beer. Everything is so spread out. It gets so packed for big acts, even Cardi B at 6pm. They're making the VIP section bigger and bigger, which is twice as much as the already high price of $429 for the wristband. It's so far from the entrance to any stages. I know it's for safety reasons to have such few exits and entrances, but it's still killer. You'll never, ever, get to see everything you want in one trip and that's the hardest part, killing your babies. Food lines are even 30-40 mins for a $14 cheeseburger with no fries. It's super hot usually. Like 90-110 degrees. It's dusty and you'll get sick afterwards maybe or just cough up black stuff for a week. So why go? It's amazing. The music is phenomenal. All the acts bring their A-game and guests usually. You can wear crazy outfits and no one minds. People bring their slutty Halloween personas out, so it's fun people watching. The sunset is take a picture fantastic. People are super nice. Cool, huge art structures you can't really get close to cause everyone is taking Instagram photos. Or if it's a walk-in installation, the line will always be too long to want to wait. I think it's worth going at least once to check it out. Like Bucket List it. You can camp for cheap (which I wouldn't recommend if you're over 30). Rent a house with friends and get mob-style taken advantage of. For like a 3-4 bedroom house it'll be like $1000 a night, for a whack ass retirement house with nothing close by, so you're gonna cram 10 people in that house at least. Blow-up mattresses store do well around Coachella time. Or you can rent a condo, which has the best deals, but no pool and with close neighbors. Driving in sucks (packed traffic). Biking is good, but can be tiring as some side streets to Coachella aren't paved well and who trusts drugged out/drunk people not to hit you? Get a helmet and lights for god's sake. But if your friends love music and can handle crowds and still got life in them, go, you won't regret it. Do it before 40 please. This ain't Dadchella. Don't get weirded out by underage girls in underwear. Or frat guys who look like they're overdosing. What on earth did I get myself into? That was my first initial thought when I arrived... First off, let me tell you of the horrors of Coachella before I tell the good. The toilets are all porta potties and no there are NO sinks... DISGUSTING! (But there are some porta potties that do have sanitizer... but not all). Not only there being no sinks that make these porta potties disgusting, but the fact that probably 1000's of people have used it before you... so you know it's just a germ filled landmark.... I still shudder just thinking about it (and tried not to think about it while using them....) The weather was pretty warm this past weekend (90+ degrees) and there was a crazy sand strom. The only shade available are in the tents and also right next to huge speakers (bring ear plugs or risk losing your hearing). The wait to refill your water is a pretty long. I think I waited at least 45 minutes to refill my 2 bottles (refill more than 1 bottle to make your wait worth all the trouble or pay $2 for a bottle). Constantly reapply sun block so that you don't get sun burned (and drink water so you don't get dehydrated). Smelling weed every single time a performance would start just plain ol' sickened me... and that was pretty much every single day. And no I did not get use to it. Ok so now that I've told you about some of the bad...now for the good.... Yes just as other fellow yelpers have mentioned, this is THE PLACE for music (and all different types that will entertain just about everyone). There are so many performances going on all at once, so I can see why the tickets are so crazy expensive (roughly $700 for 2). In case you haven't found out on line, the guest act for Phoenix is R. Kelly and the guest act for Benny Benassi is John Legend. Seeing a band live is pretty awesome and much better than listening on your computer or in your car on the radio. So this is definitely an experience (not sure if worth repeating for me though...1 is enough) Just a few tips to share, especially if this will be your 1st time coming like it was for me this past weekend: -Dust mast would be helpful because there was a sand storm (but not the year before according to a friend who went last year). Sand got into my face and in my hair. -Hand sanitizer. Although you aren't allowed to bring in liquids, you can bring this in, along with sun block. -Sun block, and constantly reapply because you will get sun burned. -Hat would be good to shade your face -Empty water bottle to hydrate yourself (do it often to prevent dehydration) -Cash to buy food (yay food trucks... but don't eat anything with your hands, get a fork and spoon!) -Jacket or sweater for the evening would be great because it's pretty chilly at night. -Download the official Coachella app so you can check up the line up of all the artists for the event. Play around with it and create a schedule so you know how to plan your day accordingly. Oh and by the way, if you weren't one of the lucky ones to plan ahead of time, good luck to you if you car camp. Yes there are showers, but they aren't the cleanest, nor the best (but you do feel like a million bucks at the end of the day when you do shower because you will need one). So bring all of your toiletries and such and learn from your mistake and make sure you find accommodations at least 6 months in advance next time (if there is a next time). CHELLA!!! Coachella 2018 was amazing! Starting from the very beginning of the weekend. Day 0- we are extremely mad that you guys postponed opening day for car camping.. normally getting there around the afternoon on day 0, we set up camp, get situated and get ready for three days of craziness. When the gates opened around 11pm, and being stuck in 10 MILE LONG lines just to enter the car camping lots. So arriving at 12pm, and actually getting to our camp spot at 8am, we where miserable. DAY 1! CHELLA OPENING DAY, after we quickly set up camp, we had no time to rest for a bit. Going crazy at all of these tents ALL day with absolutely no sleep, it was so miserable. Everything in your body is aching. After the day, we practically crawled back to camp which was about a mile away from the gates to the venue. DAY 2! DAY 2 was madness! After getting a long rested nice night of sleep, we went hard all day. We had so many different people we wanted to see, so it was very exhausting going back and forth to each tent. I honestly think that Kygo killed it more that queen bee, BUT! She killed it as well! DAY 3! Last day at chella was miserable again! The heats rose up to about 102 and we where just baking out there on the fields. We checked out all the art work and was very impressed on how amazing they where. Getting a great spot for Odesza KILLED it with all the lights, and the songs they played. After Odesza played we inched our way closer for Eminem, and he rocked the entire show. After all, the thinks that bothered me this weekend was the opening late, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, and EVERYTHING is over priced. After attending 2 years in a row, I can state with confidence that you won't find a better music festival. I first heard about Coachella in 2001, while living in San Diego. My single friends were inviting me out, but I had 2 small children and having experienced Lalapalooza in the '90's, I figured it wasn't a good place for kids. But 2014 was the year that I figured we were ready to give it a try (those little ones were now teenagers). We had a blast at Weenie Roast in 2013 and it was time for the BIG one, the 3-day COACHELLA. One disclaimer: I did not camp it nor drive/park at festival (I booked a resort and took a shuttle), so I'm already starting out the festival a bit more relaxed. Security: Excellent. As a parent, this was an important aspect to me. Not only do they pat down every festival goer, they search every bag. Further, to get alcohol, you have to get a new armband daily and alcohol must be kept in the beer garden areas, with security guarding entrances & exits. Although you will always have people that manage to sneak in booze & drugs, this minimizes the risks. Further, I saw incidences of girls or guys passing out and security getting them and taking them to the medical tents. Music: Excellent. There is something for EVERYONE! The biggest problem is trying to see everyone you want to see. I love it. Food: Very good. Tons of variety. From Vegan to Gourmet (I'll write a review about that experience). Alcohol: Beer & Wine & Whiskey & Vodka (Better selection in VIP area). But beer & wine is pretty good in general admission. Ambiance: CREATIVE & FUN. Between the different art structures during the day, to the lighting at night, to the creativity festival goers put into what their wearing, its the ultimate in people watching and strolling the grounds. Bathrooms: There are plenty of port-o-potties, restrooms, fancy port-o-potties in VIP. Point is, they were all clean and I never had to wait. Yes, I checked all of them. haha! Cons: Heat-I tend to go a little later because I like to avoid the heat at 2pm Dust-I carry a scarf to cover my mouth when the breezes pick up Crowds-Day 1 is manageable, but by Sunday the crowds are at maximum The Cons are minor compared to the overall experience. where would one even begin? this is the festival of all festivals. There is a general sense of well being , everyone is on their A-game, the fashion scene is jaw-dropping, if you like people watching, this is the place to see and be seen. The facilities are fresh, clean bathrooms, lots of water stands, and plenty of shade ... The food options are magnanimous, you will never go hungry, there were easily more than 100 vendors. Shout out to Indio Central Market for having the absolute best Fuku I have ever eaten, and the Vegan Sumo Dog I'll never forget. If you can , splurge and have the four course meal in the rose garden, it's a once in a lifetime experience (unless you want to make it more, I recommend you do) oh yeah and there was music, Beyoncé made History, and it was the most fabulous event of 2018 hands down, bar none. read more

Who knew you could actually review an event??? This was my first Coachella so maybe I'm just naive or had a lucky experience but this place absolutely rocked my socks off (so did all the walking). Multiple tents, TONS of artists I've wanted to see but could never justify the price tag, and a unique collection of food. Yes, it's crowded. Yes, tickets are "expensive" but Beyonce tickets normally go for around $200-$300. Instead you are seeing so many artists you love/new artists you come to love, combined for less than $500. The grounds were huge and it was quite a lot of walking between Sahara and Main stage. Tons of food vendors everywhere- loved all the veggie options and I also had the BEST Shake Shack burger I've ever consumed at this concert. Loved the charcoal ice cream in particular. Something for everyone but food is definitely expensive. Water is always only $2 per bottle! The event is packed and yes, it takes an hour to catch your shuttle from your hotel or takes 30 minutes to get through security depending on when you come in. Most of the people who are working the event are very kind- especially the people all cleaning up YOUR TRASH! I have never seen so many people just throw their trash on the ground. We are adults, clean up after yourselves! 10/10 would recommend! read more

It sounds dramatic and maybe a bit cliché to say Coachella is life changing but, Coachella is life changing. This was second year going and definitely not my last! There's something so beautiful about all these people coming together from all over the world to share in this experience. You meet people from Ireland, Australia, all over! It's hard to explain why it can be so eye-opening, there's just a magic when you are there. Everyone (well mostly everyone) is full of good vibes and extremely friendly. The festival goes from 11AM - 1AM so plan accordingly if you plan to be out in the heat all day. There are water stations to fill camelbacks and water bottles are $2. You can rent lockers from Coachella to keep your stuff in for the three days as well. The journey in is a very long one.. I believe it's about a mile or two from where you get dropped off (if taking an Uber) to the festival grounds. It's hot as hell, and dusty but they do have petty cabs everywhere. It's about $10 a person to take a petty cab. You then go through security and you're onto the magic of the festival! There are 9 different stages for music and music of all different genres which is the coolest part! The Antarctic is my favorite part of the festival, it's this cool 360-degree dome theater full of bean bags and air conditioning (hallelujah when it's 100 degrees outside) where they play cool videos full of fractals and good music. Beer and food are obviously overpriced, beer is about $12 a beer and you can only drink it in the beer gardens because it is an all ages event (the lamest part). The food is good and very diverse, they get all the popular local food truck vendors to come out. The art installations are always cool, I love seeing the different ones they do each year. They are large and great meeting points to meet your friends when you lose them. The cell service is really bad out there because there are so many people, that part is a bummer but some how you always find your friends. Finding an Airbnb is the tricky part considering that Coachella Valley and the surrounding cities are small but it is possible, just pricey! There are also campgrounds to camp which many people do and really enjoy, I like being able to escape Coachella for a few hours. The campgrounds are a party so if you enjoy that then definitely look into it! If you plan to go to Coachella know that it will be a pricey trip but it is worth every penny! read more

Reviewing Coachella 2017: I'll post follow-up reviews for future years I attend. Coachella is not a sprint, it's a f*cking marathon. PACE YOURSELF. After all my Coachella planning, this is the truest, most important statement I've come across regarding this three day music festival of booze, food and sun. Hubby bear and I bought our tickets to 'Chella when we were just fiances last year, and we've just been anticipating this event for so long. I"ve looked at every Coachella packing list online, read the forums, bought all the camping gear and more, but nothing will prepare me better in the future than this, my first experience. We got here on Thursday at around 5:00 pm (I couldn't get the day off so hubby spent the day packing everything in the car and we made a beeline to camping after). It only took 10 minutes to get through security! We quickly set up camp and headed to the camp activities area. It was so cool and exciting to see the big dancing/partying structure, all the food stands, random hipstery clothes/things you can buy, a beauty bar/barbershop, and sports areas for dodgeball or human fooseball. I had never been camping/summer camp so I can imagine this is what it's like. On day 1 I learned the dessert gets SO EFFING HOT. Like no wonder 80% of people don't show up until after 4pm, my goodness. The infamous ferris wheel is like that north star that guides you to the entrance/exit of the Coachella festival site, and we used it as such plenty of times, when it got super crowded and we didn't know how to get outta there. There are SOO MANY places to eat, and while the menu changes every year, a wonderful tried and true Coachella tradition is to grab a slice of Spicy Pie. While still overpriced, that jalapeno pepperoni $7 slice is still better value than anything else there. We spent all three days exploring the venue, looking at all the food options, taking pictures by the awesome art installations and checking out new bands. The best time to do this is early in the day, when there aren't that many people yet. Everyday we were there we could always find something new to do, from discovering Heinekin House as a place for air-conditioning, to hanging out at the craft beer barn where there were over 20+ beers to try. It goes without saying that the lineup for Coachella is always fire, and this year was no different. Not a Gaga fan, but she is an incredible performer. Hans Zimmer drew in crazy crowds as did Empire of the Sun. And even the smaller tents had fantastic performances from Bishop Briggs and Tennis. I loved dancing and singing along to everything. Low points: The portopotties in the campsites are straightup nasty. Making sure to bring a personal portopotty next time I attend. Plus, we walked and stood so much, that my back hurt when I sat down. Yeah, sitting down actually caused me pain, wth. Also I think there's an exponential correlation between the amount of people that start coming to Coachella after 5 and the significant increase of haze/weed smoke that covers the grounds. If you're not being shoved by a drunken frat bro or ditzy insta girl you're breathing in the nasty desert dust and vile weed/cigarette second-hand smoke. I was coughing up dust until Monday. We were put in Lot 10 which was close to the camp activities but a 10-15 minute walk to the entrance of the festival. Kinda annoying because there was a 'dance party' thing going on until 1:30 at camp activities that made falling asleep very difficult. Guess we're just a couple of boring oldies, me and hubby bear going to sleep by 10 and waking up at 6:30ish everyday. We only saw Gaga for twenty minutes, and that was only after we took an hour long nap before heading back to the festival. I absolutely hated how crowded it got and how claustrophobic I felt trying to leave Empire of the Sun's set. It was incredible to be there and experience everything for the first time, but I felt dirty and gross from all the dust and molly smoke, it was so hot and I had body pains everywhere. I still want to go again in the future, but not sure if I will next year. Truly, it is an experience of a lifetime, especially if you're a 20 or 30 something who wants to have fun, listen to wonderful music and take in the beauty of the desert. I was able to score Artist guess passes for the second Weekend and absolutely fell in love with this festival. The artist compound had air conditioners in the restrooms, free cold water bottles and lounge areas in the shade for your convenience. The artist guess bracelet gives you access to a special area fenced off of in front of each stage,"Freakin awesome". My friends and I were late to the DJ Quik performance in the Heineken house and looked like there was a line of at least hundred and fifty people plus; So we decided to go around back and was able to walk in the back of the stage thru the DJ booth,"too Kool". I have found a new love for Coachella fest experiencing it with these artist passes and can't wait to go next year. read more

The one event of the year that everyone looks forwards to because it's just that great. This is my 2nd Coachella and I didn't even know you can Yelp Coachella events but where do I start?? The lineup is ALWAYS great. There's so many artists to see ranging from EDM, Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, etc. There's just a big variety for everyone to listen to. There's multiple stages (probably like 10?) and the venue is HUGE. Be prepared to walk till you literally drop. Some downsides to Coachella is definitely the heat because you're pretty much in the desert. Temperatures can get up to like 100+ degrees and it's REALLY hot. Another downside is the dusty air from the ground. When people walk, they kick dust in the air and that dust will pierce your nose. You WILL end up blowing out black snot at the end of the night. Most people bring bandanas to cover their faces when they're walking with a big group of people to prevent breathing in the dirty air. Coachella food tents are GREAT. There's a variety of things such as crab fries (a crowd's favorite), Shake Shack, Afters Ice Cream, the basic Watermelon, Paella, their famous ice cream bars, lemonade, etc. There's just so much variety there. There's definitely something for everyone and the food is actually yummy. The event can get packed and the walk from stages to stages can get very long and tiring but when you're hanging out with a big group of friends, you'll have a great time. Security line can get long depending on the time of the day you go and the walk to the parking lot is VERY far at the end of the night. Nevertheless, Coachella is one of my favorite events ever. It was our first time going to Coachella and we had attended the 1st weekend. It was definitely a surreal experience because you had all these amazing stages which were played by well known to not as well known artists. And no matter how sweaty and nasty you were, you just kept jumping or dancing to the beat of the music. It didn't matter what other people thought, because we're all lovers of music and we were just all there to have an amazing time with the music we wanted to see in person. I have to admit that some of my favorite performances came from LANY, Kygo, Odezsa, Haim, and Vince Staples. Not only was Coachella filled with great music, but there were also great art pieces installed around the venue... some people used mostly for shade of course. But nonetheless, beauties to look at. I honestly look forward to possibly coming back next year, since I'm slowly going through withdrawals. read more

Coachella is not for the faint of heart, hard of hearing, those who overheat easily or get freaked out in crowds. The weird thing is that I'm usually all of those things and yet Coachella has become my place to make a pilgrimage almost every spring. All of the things you have to deal with at any huge festival, like $8 nachos and sweltering heat and disgusting porta-potties, all disappear the second your favorite band steps on stage with huge smiles on their faces because like you, they can't believe they've made it here. Even bands I've seen many times before just seem different out here in the desert. And there's absolutely nothing like that magical hour when the sun starts to set and everyone is positively glowing. 2010 was the first year they tried their three-day pass only system, and I'm sure by next year they'll have worked out the kinks. The line to get in on the first day was the worst I ever saw, and I've learned that coming early is almost always worth it - even if it's difficult to pull yourself away from the pool in the morning after a long night. Music is so influential on the brain that the type you listen to actually has the ability to change the way you think and look at the world. With that said, I believe music is key in everyday life as its integrated in different occasions, emotions, or memories. We all hear a song from time to time that sparks us to remember something from our past, or just simply need a morning boost and listen to your favorite track as if it was a cup of coffee. The scenarios are endless.... Coachella is a great venue if you're music whore like myself and open to all genres of music. The line up of collective artist/bands/dJs who perform offers something for everyone and an opportunity to explore and hear new music. For the longest time, I've told myself to go since mid 2000, but only finally committed back in 2012. Never stop going ever since and has become a tradition amongst my circle of friends. Coachella newbie to triple OG status. Haha If you don't mind getting dirty and sweating bullets from being out in the sun. The weather can be bipolar (windy) sometimes, but for the most part it's mainly just the heat from the sun. Dress light and stay hydrated and you're good to go! Oops almost forgot, invest in comfortable shoes as there is quite a bit of walking from the parking lot/drop off zone thru the camp grounds (aka refugee camp haha), and back and forth from different stages. Coachella tips and info - Dress light (shorts, tshirt, or tank top) - Bandana for the walk through parts of dirt field. - Bring light sweater in case it gets chilly at night (lockers available for rental) - walking distance to uber pick up/drop off zone is far AF! What is not to love about Coachella. Go once, and you'll be hooked. I've been attending since 2009, the last year that you could buy single day tickets. This year I enjoyed it so much that I went weekends 1 AND 2! Music, art and food are 3 of my favorite things. They have really stepped up the food and beer game in recent years. For example, this year I was able to enjoy fries from K-town's Beer Belly while sipping on a Lagunitas IPA in the Craft Beer Garden. Other offerings this year included GD Bro Burger (at a whopping $16), Afters Ice Cream, and Front Porch Pops popsicle carts throughout the venue. If you don't go in the craft beer garden you'll probably end up drinking Heineken at another beer garden. Camping is a whole extra layer to the experience, if you can handle it. It makes the weekend a lot more exhausting, but a lot more fun. You make friends with your neighbors, can go back to your campsite to drink at any point during the day, don't have to wait in the traffic leaving the parking lot at the end of each night, and just overall get a more immersive experience. If you don't want to camp, anyone with a festival wristband is still allowed in the camping area to take advantage of the activities, dance parties, food, etc. Shuttle passes are available for those who stay at hotels and don't want to use the free day parking. Some tips for the festival: Wear sunscreen and a hat. Bring a buff or bandana to cover your mouth from all of the dirt that gets kicked up. Earplugs. Reusable water bottle. Fill up the water bottle inside the bathrooms with no wait instead of at the water refill stations. Or just buy a new bottle for only $2. Handheld folding fan to cool yourself down while you're in the middle of the crowd. Use the Coachella app to set your list of artists you would like to see. Hang out in the Yuma tent for shade, AC, or to lay down. Go to the Do Lab to get sprayed with water to cool off. Bring a sweatshirt for the nighttime, as it gets a little windy. Since 1999, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has been the go to festie for not only Californians, but all nationwide and worldwide! Well, this year was my first time and I have to say that it did not disappoint. I had such an amazing time! I already miss it! Located in the Empire Polo Fairgrounds, Coachella this year boasted some of the greatest and up and coming artists from different genres. My fave performance was AC/DC, who rocked the main Coachella stage on Friday night. An almost 2 hour set, they put on a performance for the ages! I got a chance to see so many other artists, like Tame Impala, The War on Drugs, Caribou, Sylvan Esso, DJ Snake, Oliver Heldens and much much more! Antemasque, who I have waited so long to see, played midnight on Saturday at the Mojave Tent. With so much to do and see, Coachella boasted some of the best food spots as well. Shout out to Afters Ice Cream for holding it down! They also do have rides for all to enjoy! They have Coachella merchandise to purchase. I bought myself a Coachella shirt for $25! Prices for shirts sure aint what they used to be! Water bottles were only $2, a price that hasn't changed since its inception in '99. Amazing artistic designs they had here, Coachella also has much to see in the arts area. The giant sized butterfly, caterpillar and snail were just amazing to the eye! Pricing for the event has gone up so much in recent years and will probably continue to do so, due to the popularity of the event. For only $375, a wristband gets you in the festie fairgrounds and able to explore the entire area. Personally, I thought it would have been bigger. I got to see pretty much the entire area in less than 2 hours. Coachella set up different tents throughout the fairgrounds. They had the Coachella main stage, where pretty much all the headliners play, the Mojave, Gobi, Yuma, and Sahara tent, which was the craziest one throughout the entire 3 day weekend. The Do Lab also boasted up and coming DJ's as well as some pretty cool side shows! I cannot say that this experience disappointed me at all! For it being my first ever music festival, I had so much fun getting to discover artists that I haven't heard of before. I also had such a blast seeing the ones that I had planned on seeing. It was crowded, hot, sweaty, and tiring, but in the end, it was completely worth it. Would I go again? Abso-freakin-lutely! My fave show? Antemasque and AC/DC without a doubt! People may say spending almost $400 on a music festival is atrocious but you do get what you pay for! Coachella hits it out of the ball park for so many reasons: 1. Shuttles are very organized. I've been to other music festivals where their shit was a hot mess but not with Coachella. There will always be a shuttle waiting for you and they run from 11am - until 60 minutes after the festival has ended. You are also able to use your shuttle pass to go to any other hotel you'd like. 2. Music is diverse so it's easy to find something you'll enjoy. The genres can range from indie, pop, EDM, hip hop, rap, rock, reggae, etc. 3. Staff have been friendly and fast with getting you into the festival. The only improvement I wish I'd see is with their 21+ section. The lines are unorganized and it takes awhile to get a drink. Other than that, 'Chella is the shiiiiiit! read more

My first coachella!! And it was f*ing epic! (2015). I was always the type to oppose going to Coachella because I never did enjoy the excessive drinking, drugs or crowd of people all mixed up in the desert heat. But this year I said f*ck it! You only live once! So I decided I was only this young once might as well enjoy the life before real responsibilities came. Housing: i stayed in Palm Springs with 24 other people. We rented a big ass house with a pool and housed everyone. This is 1 out 3 house that we rented and about 25 each, yes we roll deep, them Asians. It was decent for 4 nights. If you camp in coachella it'll be cheaper like $20 for all 3 days but are you willing to have the heat, cold water, and just be all dirty all around??? Transportation: buy the shuttle pass for about $50 and it'll take you round trip anytime to coachella. The bus are ac and comfy. Especially if you become intoxicated at night and need someone to drive you home. With that comes the long ass line we waited on Saturday (about an hour wait) and we ended up at home at 3am. Day parking at coachella is free. I like that, but the lots are about a 15-20 minute walk! Venue: hot hot hot! It's literally a fairground and they set up booths, tents, famous Ferris wheel, etc. since this was my first year, I noticed that they have the flushable toilets. Just my luck! And they put pretty lights in there and it moves pretty fast. There are portable potties everywhere but have no lights in there. Lots of food booths, beer gardens, and entertainment tents. We love the NRG 3D booth! And beer gardens they do not allow beer to pass beyond that point. Age restriction: buzz kill seeing kids under 5, but really parents are you making your kids suffer in the heat with loud music with their developing ear drums? We saw a baby, yes a 2 year old baby on a dads shoulder fist pumping to Flossadamus! I guess start them young. It's free for kids under 5. Also I don't know the youngest age but we saw some kids that look 16... So girls (and guys) be careful who you hit on or try to take home... They could be underage and you'll soon be registered as a pedophile on watchdog.com. Music: since this wasn't the best line up like last year (I heard from friends) they said it was less packed and less running around to see all the artists they want. To be honest I barely knew like 6-8 artists this year, I just followed my friends. All I remembered seeing was alesso, kaskade, David guetta, di snake, Flossadamus, the weekend, odesza, Martin solveig and a few others. I didn't stay for drake because I needed to drive home Sunday night (bad idea). The best day is always Sunday to make you stay. Be prepare!! Here's a little tip list -bring a camelback or refillable water bottle -use water station next to the flushable toilets! Do not go to Sahara water station. Sahara is the house music tent and people be rolling and need more water, line is alwayssss packed -bring bandana for the dust storm or be prepared to have black coachella boogers and voice lost -bring a light cardigan for the chilly desert night -do not bring a hat unless u are prepare to have it on the whole night or hold it or lose it, it's hard to keep it on with the crowd (unless you are a guy) -comfy shoes!! Sneakers or chucks are the best -wear bathing suit under clothes so you can get semi naked legally -comfy vs fashionable, you choose -hide your goodies... You know what I mean... -eat only 1 meal a day to get that good feeling... -don't bring a backpack, let your guy friend carry your stuff and use a small purse Much much more!! Next year I will be better prepare. I love events! Go with good friends and you'll have a blast regardless of the artist. I will be back Coachella. Also it's best to take 2 days off of work!! Coachella music festival is AMAZING!!!! I went in 2016 and bought tickets when they went on sale for the 2017 show. I always choose week 1, because to me everything is new, the ground still has grass and the event staff and performers are still fresh! But that's just me! Not only is it a music festival it is an art festival and a food festival. The music is awesome with 5 stages you can pick the artist or genre of music you want to listen too.. main stage is always headliners and the have and EDM stage artists like AC/DC, Calvin Harris, Zed, Rihanna, the chainsmokers, and much much more! Musts do's: eat the huge watermelon slice (for a cool pic), Afters donut and icecream, garlic fries, old school Polaroid camera would be fun! Recommendations: bring bandannas for the dust!!! Possibly a small mesh backpack with wet wipes. Sunglasses and sunblock The Coachella shuttle service is on point! They are extremely punctual! So count on using them! The staff is incredibly helpful with what ever you need. They do check bags but not very hard. We brought vodka in with no hassle. The just quick glance.. The people are also extremely friendly! I've been car camping both years I've gone to Coachella. If you're too lazy to walk 1-1.5 miles from the parking lot to the festival grounds, this is for you. If you're trying to save money at Coachella, this is for you. If you're trying to meet other cool people at Coachella, this is for you. If you're trying to catch artists who play early, THIS IS DEFINITELY FOR YOU. (Let's be real... who goes early to the festival when they're in the hotel... y'all are probably sleeping in, showering, and getting your Coachella swag on) Highly recommend you do car camping because it's an affordable way to have an amazing experience at Coachella. I'm also going to mention though that car camping might be the most stressful part of Coachella in terms of planning what you need to bring and how you're going to get it there. CAR CAMPING TIPS. *Come to car camping early if you want to be closer to the festival (but coming late honestly isn't too bad either) *If you really REALLY need to shower, the lines are practically empty once the festival is going on (good option for showering if there's no artist you really want to see) *Bring a canopy and multiple tarps/zip ties to block the sun from waking you up at 7AM. Take that shit down during high winds. Tarp + Wind = BROKEN CANOPY. NOT JOKING. *Use the porta-potties in the morning, which is when they're clean and there's TP. *Don't overpack food. Bring enough snacks for breakfast and maybe lunch but I highly suggest eating festival food!! FOOD. Please please please add festival food to your Coachella budget. I know it's expensive... but you already paid so much for your wristband mind as well go for the full experience right?? The food is really good and there are new food vendors every year. Seriously, check them out! FAVORITES: *chicken and shrimp paella (a classic! You have to get this) *garlic crab fries *coconut popsicles *BBQ pulled pork Mac n Cheese *agua fresca watermelon flavored (half of my money went to this! And add Tajin to it!) NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY: *greek gyros *bacon mac n cheese *pizza ($7; huge slice... but let's be real you can get pizza anywhere) *jambalaya ($12; I liked it but it was filled with a bunch of green bell peppers *rather than rice and meat; warning - it's also pretty spicy) *sliders ($10 for smaller than average sliders and salty fries) *Chicken strips and fries (crunchy/dry chicken and overly salty fries) MUSIC. Don't come solely for the lineup. Come for the experience. People complain about the lineup every year and I never really understand why. The more stacked a lineup is, the more conflicts you get in your schedule. Discover new artists or even use your downtime to take a nap! That being said, split up from your friends if there's an artist you want to see but your friends are not down. You didn't pay $400+ to NOT see the artist you came to Coachella for. The Coachella experience was nevertheless mind-exploding, as expected. If heaven were such a place on Earth, this would pretty much sum it up...where art and music come together as one. Pictures can't do justice. Coachella embraces all genres of music on its 5 stages. You have Zedd, Krewella, Alesso, Showtek, etc. under one roof and you have some ZZ Ward, Tom Odell, and Bastille at a neighboring stage and Muse, Ellie, and Outkast on another. There are 2 outdoor stages, where the headliners mostly perform, 3 roofed stages, and an air-conditioned yuma which hosts a dance-all-night kinda party with a DJ and mirror ball + lights galore. Prepare to walk in the hot sun; you are in the desert, although you'll forget you are. I burned, of course, because I kept forgetting to reapply sunscreen. I'd recommend wearing a handkerchief as the sand can be quite irritating...oh, and moist wipes are a must! Outside drinks and stuffed animals are not allowed (the latter which I don't get). Just make sure to read what you can and can't bring as there's a security checkpoint before you enter. Car camping is a must for first-timers, although I'll probably opt out the second time around. The people you meet are pretty awesome, and the bonding time you get with your friends is priceless. Definitely an enlightening experience. I felt so true to my colors here, surrounded by people with the same intention of enjoying great music. The light installations provided a surreal backdrop, and the floating balloons looked like polka-dots in the sky. Coachella 2012 Music Edition! So my first review was all about the car camping experience. Here's the important stuff with all the music! I think the great part about Coachella is discovering new bands along with enjoying some old ones!! I'd have to say the crowd is super young....so I'm glad I was able to experience this before I get too old!! Do: * Watch as many bands as you can!!! They are all wonderful * Dance your ass off!!! * Hit up all the art exhibits! They are completely interactive and so amazing. My favorite being the Do LaB!!! That stage had lots and lots of water gun spraying out!! I definitely enjoyed that place to cool down. * Stay hydrated. The lines for free water refills are stupid long, so I stuck with buying bottles of water for $2 each. * Drink to your hearts content. * Smoke to your hearts content. Your first time at this festival is always a life-altering experience and it's highly unlikely you won't crave the desire to go back again for round two. Coachella is near and dear to my heart. I first attended the festival when it was a one-day event that very few people heard about back in 2001. I mean, sure there was a crowd in those days, but 30,000 in comparison to the 90,000 figure it draws today is a massive difference. However, contrary to popular belief, not much has changed for the worse. Sure, the lineups vary and people complain about the pop-culture element Coachella has inherited over the past 5-10 years, but there is no denying that this place still serves as a quasi-paradise for music enthusiasts. There are certain nuances that one should prepare themselves for when attending Coachella. 1- Unpredictable, but generally warm-to-hot weather: Prepare for lots of sun and very little shade. it's the desert on the precipice of summer. however, there is always a chance for high winds, which will blow enormous amounts of dirt, dust and sand everywhere. There is a slight chance you will experience a little rain (It's happened twice) and night time has the potential to get really cold. 2 - The crowd: You will deal with all sorts of people. Ignore the douchebags and you will be fine. But that can be much easier said than done if you are unfamiliar with your surroundings. The best idea is to dig deep within you and find the willpower to ignore the fools. They may stand out in a crowd, but I promise you the friendly, courteous people outnumber the amateurs who are there simply to party. Also, pro-tip: Ignore the celebrity buzz. it's not worth it. 3. Comfortable shoes: Get ready to walk.... A LOT: In 2013 I turned on a pedometer and it was only active 2/3 of the time. I walked over a total 15 miles each day. 4. Bring plenty of money: It's a festival and like any concert or sporting event, everything is overpriced. However, with all of the cool merchandise and the addiction of craft beer, craft foot, freshly made candy and ice cream, fresh nuts and so many other amazing food and drink options, you WANT to spend your money. 5. Get a locker: Trust me, this is a life saver. All that walking will tire you, so lighten your load as much as possible 6. Drink water: Duh, it's the desert and you will be in the sun. 7. Stay positive: I know this sounds really cliché, but a positive attitude can serve you well at Coachella. I am generally a very level person. Some accuse me of being bitter at times, but I let that all go the moment I step onto the polo fields. There will be too many uncontrollable issues you will encounter that you will let your time at the festival become ruined. As far as the music, they have yet to curate a lineup I do not like. Sure, some years are stronger than others and the direction of the lineup has gone towards artists that will move tickets, which is entirely forgivable when you have AEG breathing down your neck and still find away to book an ample amount of amazing musicians. Outkast, Jay-Z, Dre and Snoop, Arcade Fire, Prince, Roger Waters, Kraftwerk, The Black Angels, The Replacements, Devo, Plastikman, Daft Punk, Queens Of The Stone Age, Bonobo, Radiohead... I mean the list of acts they have booked over the years is so diverse that it's really elevated my appreciation of music. On top of the amazing music, the art provided brings one to a near-sensory overload of sorts. Countless amounts of unique art structures that illuminate at night or move around. Others are interactive or serve as waste bins. There are so many individual examples that it's impossible to try to list them all without failing to feel as if you caused the reader an injustice because you are leaving details out. It's really something I suggest everyone experience at least once and do so with respect. Don't be a raging lunatic whose main focus is consuming more alcohol than the human body is designed for or ingesting enough drugs to kill an elephant. Pace yourself. Coachella is a marathon, not a race. There is a lot to do and see in the three (sometimes four) day span. My experience with what was now called the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival dated back to its first year in 1999 when I street-teamed for some independent music labels and worked my way in the first couple years. I won't hide my absolute adoration for this menagerie of art, drugs, fashion, mayhem, music, scantily-clad people,and sex! Enough has been written about what you needed to know and can easily be found online. So here were some of my highlights from 2015: General Admission Festival Pass Advance Sale ($375.00) - If you were fortunate enough to score early-sale tickets, not only was there a payment plan broken-up into seven installments, but the price was $50.00 cheaper than when the regular on-sale event happened! Plus, if you broke down the numbers and saw at least 10 acts each day, that would be $125 per day at $12.50 per band...basically the price of a movie these days. Service - From the time you impatiently waited on your computer to purchase your tickets, the communication from purchase to event day, the helpful directional street signs and law enforcement officers who guided you, the friendly security personnel who patted you down as you entered, the entire staff who worked the field as they gathered trash and what-not, the concession workers who often dealt with drunk and/or inconsiderate revelers, the merchandise peeps who sold you whatever swag you wanted, to anyone else I may've left off this exhaustive list, this was a well-oiled music machine. Parking (Free) - A ton of parking spaces albeit you had quite a walk to the entrance of the facility which there really wasn't any way around this (be grateful you had the ability to walk; it's good for you!). Attire - Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. I highly recommended a long-sleeve top and bandana for the evening. Overall, the world had to end - or possibly a marriage - would have kept me away from the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival each year. Music has always been in my blood and an integral facet of my entire makeup. If this went away it would be as if my life support system had been pulled. This certainly wasn't a cheap event, so I've been alarmed by the amount of teenagers who have attended in recent years; scary, their parents must've footed the bill. But for pure music fans, this festival was a must at least once! I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience DIRECTLY TO THE FESTIVAL ONLY was around $427.00; no tip required). There are lots of well written reviews here that will run circles around anything I share, so I'm going to focus on sharing my experience and offer tips for any attendees (and offer feedback in case GV reads this). Note: my experience is that of a first-time attendee that is not a teen/20-something that attended weekend one 2019. No adult beverages or hallucinogens were consumed during my Coachella experience. We didn't camp out, but we did use the shuttle on Friday night (very organized and convenient IF you are picking up your tickets at Will Call) and stayed at an overpriced 2* hotel Saturday night. We did change our tickets from GA to VIP. Some general observations: - Friday is nowhere near as crowded as Saturday or Sunday, but I'm sure this is driven by who is headlining and who didn't have to work on Friday. - To avoid exhaustion, we arrived between 4 and 5p each day and that was good for our energy levels but trade-off is we had less time to do all the Coachella things. All the "big" acts take the main stage during evening hours. - The excitement of the Coachella app and collecting coins promptly turned into disappointment because by end of Day 1, all the redemption options were out. Wah waaahhh. - No doubt the experience is different for campers versus driving in/out each day versus saying overnight nearby. Driving from Redlands to Indio each day was not bad, and it helped I was able to drive (no impairments). If you prefer to do all the things and have a good time, hire a local driver (SO many options, check Facebook groups) or use Lyft/Uber (but be prepared to wait/walk very, very far). If you self-drive, parking is "included" in your ticket but it's a hike to the entrance (about .8 miles). If you are near a shuttle stop, use it because it's the closest approach to the entrance gate unless you have Artist passes. - Lots of port-o-potties unless you splurge for the fancy trailer restrooms in VIP. I hear there are real restrooms in the Artist area/backstage. - This entire experience is an investment--you're shelling out big bucks for any level of ticket, transportation, new festival wardrobe, souvenirs, food, beverages (bring a water bottle!), accomodations, etc. I used this as a gift for my spouse so I didn't cry every time I swiped my credit card. There is no shortage of food option, but not all options are good options and make sure you don't have the highest expectations no matter what the hype/food blog/LA Times story you read... - We skipped the Outstanding in the Field Coachella dining option because we had already paid for VIP tickets. The VIP areas provide a nice break from the larger crowds, but there are still lines and it's not closer/better viewing for the performances. If you do Outstanding in the Field, you get VIP for that day. - If you are attending Coachella for IG photo shoots, do your thing but be mindful others want to take their photo, too. There is lots of people watching and I was amused by the entourages of makeup artists and portable lighting some "Instafamous" people had in tow. - It gets hot and dusty--I took allergy meds each night to ease the sneezing but it's still intense and I believe in the Coachella cold/flu that follows... - There are freebies for Amex card holders or others depending on the sponsors--take advantage of these immediately because they don't last long. HP was giving out bags (that reminds me, this festival resulted is less freebies that others we attended). - There are so many tents, stages, performance areas that one can feel a bit overwhelmed. I resigned myself to not being able to see/do everything (I guess this is why there are people that go both weekends), and seeing at least a few items that were high on my list was good enough. Don't forget your tickets (so many options to buy after it "sold out" so don't give up hope AND no need to buy marked up tickets), sunscreen, deodorant, water bottle, sunglasses, no-limit credit card, bandana/mask, comfortable shoes, portable phone charger, and additional clothing for the evening temperature drop. read more

True Definition of an International Music Festival. People from around the world come to this desolate piece of desert also known as Indio. It's been almost 2 weeks since I've been and I hate to be that guy who keeps talking about Coachella and the different performances I saw even though it's been 1/2 a month since it past but fuck it. I was lucky enough to have a VIP access wristband and for me it was definitely worth it. Shorter lines, A/C in more areas, celebrity sightings and in general more areas to just relax. I mean, when you wanted to, you could join the masses, which I definitely did. If you've never gone. You should definitely make this once in your lifetime. You'll either be happy with one and done or you'll be hooked and want to come back to Coachella for more every year. This was memorable for me because of the people I got to spend the weekend with and all the fun memories. I FRICKING LOVED COACHELLA 2012. It was my first Coachella and it was magical. I had the full experience - car camping and EVERYTHING. I wouldn't car camp again but I would definitely recommend it to anyone and EVERYONE for their first time. You can't experience Coachella without having car camped. TRUE STORY BRO. Car-camping pros/cons (but really, they're all pros - just try it once) - meeting down-ass people who are there for the same FULL coachella experience - your phone will never be fully charge that weekend as the charging stations are SLOW AS EFF and there are a billion people around and HONESTLY, WHO WANTS TO WASTE THEIR WHOLE COACHELLA LIFETIME AT THE CHARGING STATION?! and, why you on your phone when there's so much going on in real life?! - no matter how much you shower, you'll feel grimey 24/7 - porta-showers with 5 min limits OH and 2+hour waits in the morning for girls (wait time is much less at night) - obnoxious intoxicated people that may stumble along your campsite - porta potties ONLY - try porta potties on day 3 in 100+ degree weather - try that while you're trying to go #2. Coachella - Festivals Near Me - Indio, California

I might as well post this since it'll be awhile before I'll be back. Coachella is a "bucket list"-worthy experience for any audiophile, with more emphasis on the amazing music rather than the sporadic art displays. Even if you don't show up early, lines are still fairly long to enter the grounds at midday. Tents are set up around the smaller stages to keep acoustics untainted by performances elsewhere. Rarely are there technical difficulties, and everyone pretty much sticks to the schedule in a timely fashion. Pack earplugs as sound dampeners if you plan on being right in front of the speakers for better positioning, or a towel if you're okay lounging in the back. It's out in the middle of nowhere and parking's a bear. I've camped in the tent field one year, and driven back and forth from LA each day another year; someday I'll plan well enough in advance to book a hotel. One year Jacki's car broke down and AAA took hours to get to us. We didn't mind since Daft Punk's performance was still carrying us on an adrenaline high. Food and drink vendors make pretty pennies no matter the weather-- booths and tables feature beer, lemonade, smoothies, hot dogs, funnel cake, you name it. Pretty dollars is probably a more accurate term, but the racket's the same at any event. A few water spouts around to splash yourself down and take a few gulps on the extra hot days. You'll learn to love when the bands spray the crowd with water. I remember seeing this one kid without sunblock wearing a raggedy wifebeater, and a splotch of sunburn was visible through a hole on the back. Ahhh, I was really ready to be too cool for Coachella this year but it won me over. I've been a Coachella goer for many moons but my last Coachella was right before they turned it into a mandatory 3 day concert going experience and people started purchasing tickets for Coachella before they even knew what bands were playing. That move ruined Coachella for me, but I'm back and I'd have to say I had one of the best Coachella's ever! Everything is really well thought out and organized, including lots of people wearing ask me shirts and a guy in a bullhorn at the exit bellowing out to the departing masses "If you are lost and need help come to me" It's like they put all of people's suggestions from prior years into use. The art installations are amazing. The iconic Ferris wheel is a must do when at Coachella. Do it at night, or sunset! Seems like the prices on that keep rising every year along with the prices on food. Oh well, it's to be expected I guess. We paid for our Ferris wheel ride by collecting water bottles and recycling. The amount of waste that Coachella produces is astounding! There were recycling receptacles but people weren't using them. We did our small part and that added to the enjoyment of the festival. Camping is the best way to get the most out of Coachella. This was the first year I camped and it greatly enhanced my Coachella experience. Yes, you are only given a small plot of land for your group of friends to claim as home for 3 days but it will be the most appreciated home as after the concerts are over you can just walk to your tent and plop down on a pillow and pass out instead of fighting with the cars to exit or waiting in the shuttle lines. Who doesn't love meeting new people? Our neighbors were from New Zealand and helped us set up our huge group tent. You will bond with your neighbors because of the tight quarters. If you want to continue the partying you can head over to the silent disco or take in Tall Paul's show which lasts till almost sunrise. If you are worried about not being able to catch zz's bring earplugs but you'll be too tired not to be able to pass out and the neighbors are generally very respectful , they need to get sleep too! Showers are free and well organized so there's no reason for you to be dirty all weekend...unless you were like me and forgot to pack your flip flops. In the morning you can wake up and head over to yoga. They had classes continuously from 8-2, which was absolutely amazing to help work out all those kinks. It's a huge party. It's a huge concert and it's a ridiculous amount of fun. You will make memories to last a lifetime. You will have the time of your life. GUARANTEED! read more

I have gone a few years and I have to say that this year was probably the worst and most dangerous. There were many moments where I was at risk of getting trampled or crushed--I understand that the organizers would like to make money, but this is seriously dangerous as a festival-goer. I was here for the 3 weekends because I lucked-out and got a "customer service/event rep" job. Long hours, but it was worth it to be here and experience all things Coachella....at least from an employees viewpoint. We had to camp out just like the concertgoers, just in a different and guarded spot. Things I Liked: -The rave vibe; all people all races, etc were having a good time (for the most part). -The music (from what I heard). Didn't see much but heard it (Youtube the concert; the copyright-ed videos are almost high def and produced/shot professionally). Things I Didn't Like: -The pot smell...not everywhere but enough that it was a hassle...concertgoers and some workers alike (ikr?). Sooooo. if you can afford the tickets, worth it...go!
