The ride I was talking about

I rode Turbo yesterday and had a terrifying experience. After I got seated, I told the staff to wait because no one had checked if my seat belt was secured, but the ride started anyway. When they stopped to load more people, we were left at the very top hanging upside down for about 15 minutes. Being upside down that long made me extremely dizzy, and I was terrified the entire time, worried my seat belt wasn't properly fastened. I was screaming to get us off, and my friend was also asking for help too, but we were completely ignored. It was the most frightened I've ever felt on a ride.

This place has gotten very over priced and way smaller than years ago. The little kid rides seemed to have a lot less rides than years ago. I wanted to try a lot more food but it's impossible with the prices.

It's true, there's not much of a Date theme anything considering it's also a Date festival, however there's a ton of greasy fried carnival food! I did see date shakes and a date cookie/brownie option at one of the vendors. We went during the day time, so it might've been nicer at night with the lights. Lots of rides. Entertainment was lacking, but considering they went on a hiatus because of COVID, I'm not complaining. There's street parking if you don't want to pay for parking, you just have to walk a little further, which isn't too bad. Despite the lack of Dates, it was still fun walking around stuffing our faces with fried Oreos and turkey legs. The stable/barn area where you can look at the adorable animals was worth it for me. I mean baby goats parkouring is the cutest thing ever!

    Butterflies galore!

It's the perfect place for a 4 year old to have fun. They have a new butterfly exhibit this year. We paid $5/person to feed live butterflies that land on your head, arms, shirt or wherever you want them. Adults and kids all seemed to enjoy it. The standard fair stuff of rides, food, barnyard animals are great as usual. We're going again this weekend! The weather has been great.

It's still in process after the financial hit from COVID. The HR is willing to listen to suggestions, but as an over all, it provided a little to a lot of something for everyone in the family.

Lots of activities for young kids like giant jenga and connect four. There is a sand box with corn kernels that was always full of young (and some not-so-young) kids. The magician was fun and the rides were free. Very pretty inside with the lights and backdrops. We took family photos in front of the fountain. There are different types of pumpkins and paint pens to use on the them after they are bought. There is also a bar with different types of beer and cider for fall/Oktoberfest. Overall a fun way to spend the evening

As a local, we don't get a lot of stuff going on here. But I do always look forward to the Date Festival. Sure it can be a little ghetto but I love it. Last year was a disappointment but this year was a little better. There was a lot less stuff but still not bad. I had fun, but I was real upset about the Fantasy Springs Staff, There was so much space down the in Front row for the Flo Rider Concert and they didn't let us go up, which makes no sense.. The only good thing was the food. Funnel Cake with Ice cream was amazing, I had a club sandwich which was good, and some Agua de Pina always good. It was super cold this year tho. My Boyfriend got a Corndog, Fries and a Soda which he said was super good, a Deep Fried Twinkie and a Deep Fried Snickers which were really good as well. We took multiple pictures and they came out really nice! Pricey But It was a good time. Once a Year

02/24/2024 One star is too high! Couldn't enter the parking lot from the street we accessed it from last year and was told to go all the way around! Couldn't find enough or trust enough employees to stand and collect money at entrances? There was no give on this and ended up parking off fair property for less money! Yes, they do charge to park! At the entrance you are asked to pose for a photo but no thanks! Not far inside the fair there was a display of prisoner seals in small portable pools for human entertainment. The new taiji in america! Sickening and disgusting! Come to find out, the county, in their infinite wisdom, has outsourced the fair to outside influences that don't know what they are doing! I misplaced a bag and went looking for lost and found but according to the rent a cops ... they had NO lost and found! Now there's good news! I received a large song and dance from customer service(?) and now have to call Monday and maybe talk to a human about my lost and found in the fair office ... the outsourcing of functions here in the valley is weak and unnecessary! Nobody here in town wants to run and coordinate the fair? There's plenty of greasy fattening food for everyone! Plenty carnival games unoccupied except the barkers. Rigged and fixed chance games and everyone knows that. The kids liked the rides it seemed. The animal barns were hustle bustle. Even though there is two more fair days, animals were being auctioned off. Last year, there were NO animals to see when we went! No maps available? What's up with that? Use to give out at entrance. Cheap. Outsource functions and lose benefits for the people to benefit the person now running the show. Not enough shade for older visitors. What a waste of money ... never more

Facebook page where the event manger took down the negative postings
    Joshua B.

This event sounded great, was advertised as a big hit with lots of events for the kids, but sadly this was not the case. I paid $8 adult and $5 child, along with $10 for parking (which is ridiculous considering you can't even park near the event's EMPTY lot?!). First driving in for parking was way confusing. Apparently you're suppose to enter Gate 6 off of Dr. Carreon but there was NO signage at all indicating this. I only found out after driving up Arabia Street and seeing two guards under a blue EZ-Up chatting and asking them. My question why not enter there at that gate entrance? You end up passing by them entering the other direction! Then when I did pass them inside the gate, they gave me crummy directions where to park. Again no signage anywhere once you turn the corner from the first building! I ended getting out to scout the area where I saw another guard on the other side of another gate who stated the event was on that side!? So I saw a slightly opened gate at the end and opened it so we could drive through and park on that side. Once we were walking up to the third building (again no signage as to the entrance or for what event) I saw the second guard again who was agitated and asked where I parked. I pointed back to the open lot and he said I wasn't suppose to park near the event building. When I asked why because that didn't make sense as it was a wide open lot (no cars but mine) the guard didn't have an answer other than you're just not suppose to. The other lot mind you is way farther than you need to be and just as big as the lot they don't want you in? Apparently the second rode iron gate was a pedestrian entrance to which the guard said "it's common sense" cause it was half open. Really!? No one around nor any signs to say otherwise and beside he should have been at that gate but instead was fielding a question by another lady yelling towards him from outside the Arabia gate asking where she's upload to enter for the event (thank you). That guard's attitude was really piss pour. After parking and speaking with the angry guard we walked into the event and realized we were the ONLY ones there! Two staff members is all they had. One girl selling Dollar Tree trinkets for 10x the cost and another behind a bar area?! The kids games were wack, hay maze (see pic) was halfa$$ at best, they had corn hole, Jengga, and a sandbox container full of corn. There were some cut out to take pictures too. Not much in the way of kid's entertainment. Apparently there was pumpkin decorating but only after you buy a $2 little hand size gourd (not a pumpkin). After talking to the two staff members it seems like they're really geared towards a more adult crowd after 7pm with a haunted house aimed at 16+ years (hence the bar, lounge seating and other room closed off). I expressed my complaint to the manager Chris Pickering who stated "well sorry", not the response I was hoping for, say like I appreciate the feed back, I'll look at adding some more kid friendly content for the morning-afternoon times, etc. I stayed in total and hour maybe so the kids did everything thing in about 15 minutes but another set of kids showed up so my little played a bit longer in the corn pit. Overall this event is not what it claims to be. Honestly the decor was the best part. Some signs for parking and directions to the building would be SUPER helpful and/or not so lazy guards. Way more "kid" stuff to do which could be applicable to adults later in the evening like the corn hole game but other stuff aimed at kids that could be moved to the side out of the way later. And why not have the haunted house toned down during the day for kids and ramped up scarier for evening. There was lots of potential if the manager gave a sh*t or knew what he was doing. Later I made a complaint on there FB page along with some friends of mine who also got duped into this, Chris took all the complaints down off the sight, now only the 4 positive messages remain, should say a lot about how this guy operates.

    Middle-eastern themed stage
    Paul L.

I wanted to visit this fair because I'm fascinated with Indio's historical relationship with the date fruit. The homage to the Middle East is exemplified in the simplified minarets, horseshoe arches, and Persian domes at the fair entrance and one of the stages. Unfortunately, one of the utilitarian steel buildings featuring date displays was underwhelming aside from a vitrine of tempting date baked goods on display. (Too bad they were in competition instead of on sale.) I consoled myself with a date shake from a nearby vendor and tried fish tacos at one of the many brightly-lighted food trailers. While the vegetables seemed fresh and crisp, there was about a goldfish-sized fish portion in each. Oh well, having high expectations with carnival food is never a good idea. Checking out the animals and watching the judging was a highlight for me. In the barn filled with rows of chickens, I watched the elderly judge handle and poke the birds then pause and scratch his brow as his assistant took notes. He seemed absorbed in his methodical responsibilities. It's all a mystery to me but I'll assume that the best chicken won. The llama judging was fascinating. Some of these tall creatures were better groomed than contestants in New York City's Westminster Dog Show. These were such beautiful animals and the judge kindly took to the microphone to explain the traits she sought when deciding a winner. If I was under 18, I'd probably find the fair truly exciting. The rides, colors, bright lights, and endless quantities of sugary foods would have kept me happy at that age. As an adult, walking the midway was a pleasant enough morning but I wish the simple date fruit was given more attention here.

People who work the fair are not familiar with this offer.

We entered on foot through Santa's Workshop. When we left after 12 noon, Santa himself was there. The first thing we did was visited all the sponsor tables where we picked up swag. College of the Desert had some nice items - stress ball, lip balm, highlighters, etc. Then it was tamale time. Which vendor? Sis and I lined up at the longest line one. We waited about 1/2 hour but spoke to a couple ahead of us who told us which vendors they enjoyed. The longest line was Casa De Silvia. I heard snatches of people's conversations about the chili relleno tamale. When I got up to the order counter I ordered it plus chicken in green sauce and pork in red. The chili relleno tamale lived up to its reputation. Very good. Filled with cheese and chopped green poblano stuffed. Yummy. Later I got a pineapple tamale from The Tamale Fiesta booth. Said came with pineapple pieces. I didn't see any in mine. There's an eating area with canopies that offered much needed shade. We ate our tamales there. Hubby & I made an observation - there seemed to be less tamale vendors than in the past. But the ones that participated offered delicious tamales. We did a complete circle of the festival. Ample porta potties. After a couple of hours we exited.

We tried many tamales and were disappointed in most of them. Barely took any home to freeze for later. We drive from Riverside every year but probably won't go for 2026. *record scratch* Yep, that's me…read more You're probably wondering how I got here. Well... When Goldenvoice posted their best Coachella lineup since 2014, I gave my fiancé the look. You know the one. The "if I don't go to this with you, I'm going to regret it for the rest of my life, because when will the next time we will be able to do this together be? Like literally we will be on our honey moon around April next year and the year after that we might be trying to start a family and then when?" look. And shockingly, he was also impressed by the lineup. And since he rolled over that easy, I broke the news that I'd also feel regret if we didn't get VIP wristbands. Now, VIP is obviously not cheap. We had to come up with ways to subsidize the total for this experience, which resulted in attending weekend 2 and car camping. I know what you're thinking: oh you poor thing, how ever did you survive such a harrowing series of inconveniences? It was my first time attending weekend 2, and it was 110% more chill than weekend 1. I'm gonna be honest, I don't recognize famous people in person anyway, and usually I'm too busy doing things at Coachella to notice who's around me. So aside from some of the W1 acts that didn't perform on W2, I didn't feel like I missed out. Not sure how the VIP experience is on W1, but there was plenty of space, mostly clean bathrooms, and pretty short food and drink lines for VIP W2. We decided VIP was worth it for the extra space alone. Car camping, on the other hand, was as I expected and remembered it to be. I don't have a problem camping, but I always seem to end up with people who have never been camping before--ever. So while we saved a butt-load on lodging, the campground activities are fun, and we had chill and friendly neighbors, the experience was just mediocre enough that my fiancé would be fine never doing it here again, unless we came with a big group of people. And to that, I say, "Nice." I was happy to see that overall, the prices have not increased much in the last four years. I remember I was absolutely pissed in 2022 at how far the price jumped for basic food, but I guess they did that with the intention of not having major price increases for the next few years. Slices of Spicy Pie were $11 in 2022, and only $12 in 2026. The signage and directing was much better than previous years, and I don't know if that was because it's W2 or if it's generally better. There's also way more free stuff being given out now (I guess thanks to influencing). We were camping somewhat close to the porta-potties, and thankfully it only smelled for about an hour per day while they pumped them. Otherwise, super convenient to walk to. Only complaint was that they didn't clean and pump the first time until afternoon on Friday, so people had been using them for over 24 hours before toilet paper and such got refilled. No running water there, though (only sanitizer). Bring a roll of toilet paper (or two). The showers were not great, as usual, but we went at a time where the line wasn't too bad. At 7am, the line took about 20 minutes for the masculine showers and 45 minutes for the feminine showers. Bring shower sandals (and your own shower products). The festival itself was just as grand as I remember, with tons of art and other interactive spaces beyond the music stages. Always fun to also see and hear many big names in music and dancing with other attendees. We spent sets pretty evenly between GA and VIP viewing, but all times between sets we spent mostly in VIP areas. The VIP area by Sahara was the least impressive of the three, with also the absolute worst bathrooms. The flushable toilets in that area had been gassed by someone with major gastrointestinal distress, while the portas were never fully clean. Rose Garden had the most open space, and the flowers were in-bloom. Serene, almost. 12 Peaks had the best bathrooms, a speakeasy, and the best food. It's also the largest area of the three. We tried to go here as much as possible for food and bathroom trips. Can't really speak to much in the GA areas this time, besides the street food alley was a cool addition since my last visit, and we enjoyed visiting the speakeasies. They are in AC and the drinks are good--definitely check them out next time if you haven't. We tried all except the Sabrina Carpenter one (line was way too long). I also love the GA Indio Central Market, with all the shade and food options available in one place. Awesome to see Block Party serving drinks this year. I honestly didn't see myself going to Coachella again this soon, but I'm glad I did. I don't want to say that we definitely won't go again as soon as next year...but I guess we will just have to wait and see the lineup.

Stagecoach was everything I thought it would be and I was content. For a first timer it was a…read morereally fun and worthwhile experience. Would I come back again? Yes! Leaving this review I understand my circumstances are different than some and their complaints I can't speak to per se. I didn't need to take a shuttle, I expect food to be pricy so I eat beforehand (almost every venue or festival for music I've been to the food is not priced at a normal rate), I wasn't camping here, and I don't expect a festival or their staff to somehow be able to control desert weather?! Some of these complaints on here are weird. lol. Their experiences are valid but also a lot of these things with better planning or some sense could likely be mitigated, at least that's how I felt after reading them. Maybe I am just too logical? The polo grounds are great, large enough to accommodate these massive crowds and it's a good location as it neighbors La Quinta, Indio, and Coachella giving you variety of areas you could stay if you are traveling. I'm impressed with how many parking lots they have here and with 80,000 people attending I'm not sure how people wouldn't think there would be some walking involved? You can't get that many people and their vehicles, shuttles, and alternative rides all close enough to park and just walk right into a venue. I felt their parking setup was pretty successful if you brought your own car but I understand the shuttles had massive lines and that's unfortunate. I feel like overall the staff are very friendly and nice here. These festivals bring jobs to the community and while you definitely get a variety of workers from all walks of life, I felt my interactions were 98% very positive. So many staff just with a smile on their faces, asking you to get home safe, and thanking you for coming as you walk out, that's a nice touch. I saw staff everywhere I turned and they seemed to have a good handle on things between the security, vendors, and even trash cleanup crews I felt they did a good job. The lineup this year was really great, some hits and misses as will happen but for the most part I was impressed with the headliners. My personal opinion was that Post Malone and Morgan Wallen were some of the best this year, brought good energy and the sound came across really good on my end. I loved the merch options and the ability to buy items ahead of time. The app for the phone was also super handy and I like the organization it helps create when planning your trip. Lastly, the VIP and upgraded wristbands were a must in my opinion. Worth the money I felt as you had better access to restrooms, food stalls, drinks, and of course close to the stage and more room. Stagecoach was great, definitely a music festival worth coming to 100%.

First time attending Stagecoach and I loved it. I've been to Coachella and I can definitely say…read morethat Stagecoach is way better. I'm not a huge country music fan so I only went for one night, but it was worth going to the show. Lana Del Rey was amazing. I will definitely be attending next year again.

Fantastic Pre-Season Soccer in Palm Desert…read more - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit We visited Palm Desert to see our St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) play Austin in pre-season MLS soccer at the Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament, and we had a GREAT TIME!! The Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament is pre-season soccer for men (MLS) and women (NWSL), played at the Empire Polo Club in February each year. We have visited Palm Desert for many years, and have visited before and after the tournament the past couple years, but have missed attending; thankfully schedules aligned this year. After watching previous games on YouTube, this year we got to be there in person! The tournament's site offers some challenges on finding General Admission tickets; after some time we found that the Los Angeles Galaxy (LAG) were managing the tickets; a quick call with Miguel, who was very helpful, and we soon had our tickets in the app ready to be there for the soccer. Thanks, Miguel!! Parking for soccer was easy to find based on the online map and following the signs. For food, under the semi-permanent tent they have food trucks and an open bar. Here is little shade on the fields; some palm trees in the corners offer a place to cool off; otherwise if the skies are clear, the Palm Desert sun will provide copious doses of Vitamin D to lift your spirits. DJ Alf Alpha provided dance tubes all day and there were various soccer skills for fans to participate in. Even when the weather is not as nice as it was for us, this is still a great facility, with low humidity. Fun fact... the Salton Sea is the second lowest point in the US, after Badwater Basin / Death Valley; if I calculated correctly, the Empire Polo Club elevation is 5-20 feet. Thank you to everyone who makes the Coachella Valley Invitational possible! As Major League Soccer transitions its season to match the rest of the world, and to spread across two years, but no soccer in cold Jan/Fen nor hot July/Aug, we hope you'll continue the tournament as a mid-season break tourney. ----- ----- -----

The Polo Club is a big and varied place. They do actually have polo fields there. AND, they also…read morehave other areas. Today I was there for the soccer invitationals. I've been for others things. The dog show, for instance. It's a nice outdoor space. There are areas that are very rich in foliage and give plenty of shade. The staff has always been nice and helpful, from the parking people to the security and cashiers, I've never have anyone be ambivalent. Food is, well, epic expensive. If you plan to spend $30 on food and $10 on drinks, you can get by. Beer was not outrageous though, which was a surprise. I definitely recommend going. Parking has always been easy. Some events it's free parking, others it costs, so plan ahead.
