Not only is a flagship store iconic, but there is basically an entire L.L. Bean village. The home store, the hunting store, the café, the outlet... It truly keeps Freeport running. I was excited to visit after the years long renovation. The store still feels very much the same with some newer updates, like new features for kids, additions to the trout pond. They were also doing a vintage L.L. Bean pop-up in the front of the store where you could buy vintage L.L. Bean goods. You will not find friendlier sales associates anywhere. I also love that so many people who work here are of older age. It feels so wholesome. LL Bean used offer free returns for life, but they've updated that to one year. I can get behind that, they gotta make money somehow. When you're in Maine, it's worth a trip. Not to mention it's open 24 hours a day so you can literally go in at any time. From what I know, it's been that way forever. I heard stories about my grandfather bringing my mom when she was a little girl to feed the trout in the middle of the night. LL Bean, thank you for keeping the same charm while adding a few new cool features. Please never change, we love you.

It's in the middle of a major renovation so, there was a large tent where the women's and men's clothing was located and you couldn't get to the giant boot for a photo - but they had a temporary option set up with their boot car. Cute. I loved walking through the Home and Outdoor stores and shopping for items I've never seen in person before. This is a very nice corporate headquarters and flagship office area. Two things of note immediately: 1) is there ANY organization to this store?, because it sure doesn't seem like it, and... 2) it had a real post-Black Friday feel to it with clothing and accessories discarded in piles everywhere. I don't blame the staff for that necessarily, as I watched loads of customers literally abandoned piles of stuff wherever they wanted when they realized, I guess, they didn't actually want to buy them. Also, another reviewer mentioned the lack of staff at the Fitting Rooms; this actually felt very normal (at least it is in other parts of the world from what I've experienced) , so I appreciated just being able to help myself to a room whenever I wanted (...granted, they were also messy with customer's deserted stuff). In the end, on this particular occasion, I left with two items: a very cute, white sweater with golden sparkly thread AND a fantastic little black dress. Pricetag? Under $50. And the person at the cash register was SO friendly and engaging; she gave me an enormous brown paper bag for free when she saw I had been toting around all my Kitchen Store Outlet stuff in my arms. I don't know that I'm rushing back here anytime soon, but if I'm in the area and I've got the time to explore, I'd come back to see what gems might find me! But I wouldn't come back intentionally looking for a specific item.

They have a large selection of items, but I couldn't find a button up shirt for my step-son. You would think button-ups would be a common items to find and not a single one. I found 32 options for sweaters and 40 options for sweatshirts, but not a single button up shirt. The staff is non-existent around the fitting room, so customers are always having to go find someone to unlock a door. The value of some of the items is reasonable, when it's on sale, but the headache of having to sort through unorganized sizes and color is just not worth it in my mind.

Well turns out I had imagined a Dooney Bag. I thought they were always bags with their logo tackily splashed all over. They have a great variety of beautiful leather and nylon bags without the logo overload. Plus some also have a logo of a duck, which appeals to the Mainer in me. Anyways, this store specifically, the Freeport outlet store, has amazing deals. The merchandise appears to be the same as what is currently in Macys. (Unlike the competing designer purse store in the area which is a different line of cheaper stuff). I can't say that for sure of course, but I had almost ordered the exact same purse, down to the stitch, off the Macys website a few weeks earlier. I have snagged 3 purses, a $40 crossbody, a $60 duffel which I used on a 4 day weekend trip (marked down from $200!), and my envisioned $90 nylon/leather handled blue purse. I love them all and now I think I have turned myself into a purse girl.
