The Co-operative supermarket has its roots in the west country, and Bristol has more than its fair share of co-ops. This can only be a good thing. They offer reasonably priced food which is more likely to be ethically sourced and sustainable than at other places.
Lawrence Weston's co-op has get all the best bits of any of their supermarkets. The staff are friendly, and will remember you from your last visit. There's co-op brand meat and cheese, which I've always thought is a cut above other supermarkets. The prices are good and you get the odd fantastic deal if you keep your eyes open (two cheese slices for £1.60. Winner!).
It's probably not quite as cheap as going to one of Bristol's gigantic Asdas but certainly a lot cheaper than the city's Sainsburys and Waitrose. Big enough to have ever everything you need for your weekly shop, the co-op brings is slightly more human than your usual supermarket. read more
