I'm usually disappointed by the cards in supermarkets, although it's usually the place I am when I remember that I need to get one and it's too late to go anywhere else. This is the situation I found myself in today, and readied myself to buy a boring card that's the same as you see everywhere else and will probably be the same as another card on the mantelpiece of my friend whose birthday it was. In my previous visits to Sainsbury's (and I do go there a few times a week) I had noticed the card section at the front of the store and assumed that it was pretty small, but I was surprised to find that there was rather a large selection to choose from. And they weren't all just your standard Hallmark cards either; they had lines that I'd never seen anywhere else and were really lovely. As well as the birthday card I needed, I found loads of blank cards with gorgeous pictures that I bought just because I liked them, and I ended up spending around £8 in total, which I think is rather a lot to spend on cards. This was not because they were expensive either, with most standard size cards costing around £1.50. So next time you need to buy someone a card, do not underestimate Sainsbury's! (Oh, and on a slightly different subject, this Sainsbury's petrol station is also the only place I know of where you can pump your tyres up for free. Thank-you, Sainsbury's)

This Sainsburys supermarket is big, but is by no means as intimidating as Tesco Extra can be (if you go with friends you can very easily loose them in Tesco's). They have a great selection of food at all prices available, and I particularly like Indian and Chinese ready meal selection. They also have a fresh fish and meat, delicatessen, and bakery counters, all manned by really lovely staff. Finally I'd also recommend checking out their DVD selection as prices are rather cheap, I managed to buy New Moon the week it came for only £7.99 (so I can now swoon at Robert Pattison to my hearts content).

I duly obliged . The he asked if he could look in my bag , There was a half drunk bottle of water in my bag, he asked "have you paid for that?" I had to think for a moment as I wasn't sure if I had picked it up in your store. It was a very hot day and I normally carry a bottle of water in my bag; I remember taking one from my car earlier, but I wasn't sure if that was the same bottle. So apologised and said that I must have absent mindedly put it in my bag after drinking some in the store. I offered to pay, still not sure wheather it was my bottle or yours. The Store Detective then said to me "you have done this before with some clothing, the security guard recognised you as he stopped you last time". I was absolutely dumbfounded! I have never ever been stopped by any security guard in your store, 'or any store for that matter.' I responded that "this is mistaken identity as I have never been stopped in this store before; I requested to see the CCTV footage, but was refused . The Store Detective said he would get the security guard out to ID me which he did; I told him that he was mistaken and requested once again to see the Cctv footage. I was refused and told I would have to ask the police . I responded well call the police. Then the store detective told me not to raise my voice (well excuse me, I am 62yrs of age and have never encountered this in my life. I have video footage and so does your store. I would like to request the CCTV footage of who the security guard thinks that I am regarding the clothing. If this CCTV footage is not available I require a sworn statement from the security guard regarding this event as this is slander and defamation of my character. You have to commute, there's nowhere around for an after work drink and getting a decent lunch is near impossible. Which is why I'm oh so grateful to Sainsbury's in East Filton. This large supermarket was a mecca for office workers for miles around. With shelves filled with fresh sandwiches, a fully stocked salad bar and fast cashiers it's always easy to get a quick, tasty lunch here. But the reason that this Sainsbury's will always stick in my mind is the tasters it does on a daily basis. Not to make myself sound too cheap, but I always looked forward to my lunch time trip to Sainsbury's with my colleagues for a free shot of wine, a taste of local cheddar and a bite of chocolate cake - perfect for those on a budget! There's also an on-site cafe, great for breakfast "meetings", petrol station and free car parking. If all Sainsbury's were like this - I'd never shop anywhere else!

The first thing I wanted to do after arriving at Heathrow - grabbing a hot coffee from Waitrose (free for MyWaitrose card holders) and a pack dark chocolate digestives and enjoy a stroll through a lovely green park (England is full of open green spaces). So when I say I was thinking about going to Waitrose during my flight across the pond, I'm actually not exaggerating. Okay, so here is the low down. Waitrose is not cheap but it is quality. If you follow the deals though, you can buy wisely and buy value. For about £2 or £3 you can get a whole raw chicken and a £1 avocado during their half-price sale (on now) which actually seem on par or even cheaper than home. I recently grabbed an uber delicious crispy salad, mince for a delicious braised mince and nice crusty bread for under £5. I am from Los Angeles, where I am spoiled with abundant fresh veg and really great value food prices. When it comes to groceries, if quality matters you shop here. And if you are on a student budget with champagne tastes (like me) go for the deals and always keep an eye out for the exceptional deals running close to closing hours. My favourite items at Waitrose are most often the veg, always crisp and very tasty. I have to admit, I don't always get a tomato that taste like a tomato at the other grocery chains like I do at Waitrose. Here at Henleaze, you can enjoy a free car park, self-serve coffee, wide and well-stocked selections, and friendly staff. The essential line is Waitrose's own label and you will find prices comparative to other big shops.

This is the only Waitrose I've ever been into in my life. On my way out of the cinema, I have on occasion done a moderate sized shop here in the past, which I think a lot of people do. For to be able to shop here for your weekly groceries, you would need to be on a slightly higher pay scale than myself. The only people who can afford this place are the same people who buy all of their furniture from John Lewis. And the fact that the two chains are connected is no coincidence. This is high end, quality food for the filthy rich. Everything about this place screams upper middle class, but not in a bad way. The fish is fresher than other supermarkets, the yokes of the eggs are more yellow, the breads are softer. It is quality food and in this life you get what you pay for I guess.

So you can trolley round in a fairly efficiently short time. But what I like about it is the in-store optician. You can get a pair of prescription glasses for £10!!! Ok, you have to choose style from the seventies, but for a tenner who cares? There's also all the gubbins you'd expect, pharmacy, electronics, home goods, home bads, clothes.... But this Tesco is where all the student's go as the accomdation is very near here. So can be busy at beginnings of terms. It's also often pretty hectic at the weekend with queues coming in and out of the car park.

My concerns do not lie amongst the fact I was denied my RedBull, but that I feel as though some homophobia and ageism occurred against me and my partner (both females, 17). While paying for my sugar-free White Peach Redbull, as I have every right to do so, an ID was provided by myself and I was still denied my drink. I am outraged that in the 21st century people can be so ignorant.

Tescos try very hard to make themselves out to be the cheapest retailer so they have loads of special offers and incentives as well as their clubcard scheme and customer services.

Additionally they're not particularly great when it comes to stocking organic and fair-trade food products (not verygood in this day and age). I have noticed that I have plenty of offers on in store, especially when it comes to branded goods such as Pringles, Coca Cola, Penguins etc... making them much better value than in other supermarkets. As you've probably noticed from my list however, they really only generally have offers on junk food (no wonder we're all getting obese). I do come here though, quite regularly when I'm after DVDs, video games and electronic goods, which in my experience are often cheaper than even Amazon.com. So that's something too really bear in mind.

But for the bulky thing ASDA is just the job. Yesterday we bought toilet rolls, cat food, washing and cleaning stuff and a stock of shampoo that should last until 2012. The clothing department seems to have lost the plot in the last few years. There used to be nice things and now we wonder who exactly wears this stuff. The home department is very cheap and good for replacing broken dishes and worn-out pans. Don't ever buy the 'Smart-Price' pans, they last about 11 seconds before losing all their coating and going rusty.

A lot of the Morrisons I've been in have been the old Safeway stores that have been converted and…read moredon't quite fit with the brand. Well this one was made for Morrisons and I really, really like it. Large parts of the shop are given over to the fresh food and they have a fishmonger, a butcher, a baker , a piemaker and more. It also has a large salad bar which is well stocked even in the evenings. It has a good wine/alcohol selection too with a great variety of speciality beers and ciders. The fresh cakes are also a delight. If you want more there is a small selection of DVDs, books, games, house stuff. More importantly you can always get a parking space close to the store and its quite good value too.

I've generally found that the sushi in the UK is not great whether it's low or high end. However this sushi was incredibly bad for even grocery store sushi but the prices were similar to what you'd pay in a typical restaurant. The rice was almost crunchy and the portions of fish were thin and soft. It wasn't soft because there was a high fat content. It was just low quality fish. It was so disappointing that I didn't even finish what I had purchased. I will definitely not be going back.
