Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. If you do, please don't drink and drive. Parking is ok, if you go shopping off peak hours. Market is on Beach Boulevard and it could get pretty busy so plan wisely. So enjoy your visit. It is always fun to discover a new product and try something you have never eaten before!

The seller told me to leave the green jujubes out for 1-2 days, saying they would turn brown and become ready to eat. I followed their instructions, but instead of ripening, the jujubes never turned brown. They stayed green, became completely shriveled and dried out, and had almost no moisture left inside. They went from looking fresh to completely dried out and inedible. I have pictures showing exactly what happened, including how they looked when I received them and how they ended up. Honestly, this feels like "bait and switch" -- showing one thing in the picture and sending something completely different. Don't be fooled by the pictures or tempted to save a few dollars by buying from this place. When I contacted them about the problem, they not only refused to properly resolve it, but they were also extremely rude and disrespectful in the way they spoke to me. This is my personal experience, and I would NOT recommend buying jujubes from this seller. Save yourself the trouble and buy somewhere else.

I remember they once sold Vietnamese Coriander (Rau Ram) the particular herb that you eat with the hột vịt lộn, they still might. I looked around for a little and saw lots of products ranging from cans of sardines in lemon olive oil, to ceramic dishware and tea towels, as well as jars of sauces, a small refrigerator of cheese and perishable meats, and many Ronaldo memorabilia. I came back to the front counter and took a look at the pastry offerings, noting that none of them had prices listed. Only a small card that shows the price of a dozen or half dozen. I opted to just purchase 2 egg tarts which totaled to a whopping $10. The man went to the back room to grab the pastries and package everything. Each tart came in a separate brown paper slip though I imagine larger quantities would come in a box. It also included beautiful napkins and a small paper bag all with the blue and white azulejo tile print. I walked out to my car and immediately tried a tart. I was severely disappointed as it tastes incredibly stale, likely a day old or so. I have eaten many egg tarts of all varieties (portuguese, hong kong/macau) and have never had a tart crust that was this tough. I was actively pulling as I bit into the crust and had to chew through the hard, stale shards that should be crisp and flakey. The custard filling was also entirely separated from the top layer of the tart. It looked like a skin had formed and was lifting away from the custard bottom. The custard itself leans sweet when compared to other egg tarts I've had. Not sure if I came on a bad day, but to add insult to injury, these tarts being $5 a piece really should not warrant a product this low in quality. I'm glad I didn't purchase a half dozen because my teeth could barely enjoy the first one. Parking is easy to find in this small plaza. Service was standard. Based on my experience, there are many other bakeries that serve far superior egg tarts for a much cheaper price. I wanted like the egg tarts based on other reviews, but unfortunately I cannot recommend this business due to inconsistent quality.
