I had previously signed them up on the health exchange, but as their circumstances had changed, it was unclear what to do for the upcoming year. I contacted Walter and he spent an entire afternoon at our house asking questions and going over options that would provide them each with necessary care at the most affordable price. He answered all of our questions and was NOT at all pushy in terms of trying to make us select a high end plan. In the case of one of my daughters, who has needed very little medical care, we selected a high deductible/low cost plan. Walter suggested we consider a very low cost non-health exchange plan that would provide care in case of an emergency until my daughter met her high deductible. After learning more about that plan, we decided it was well worth it and signed on. Since then, Walter has kept us apprised of useful health-related information through his email newsletter and, when we have had questions, he has responded within a day of our reaching out. Most recently, I contacted him to ask whether a move from one state to another requires my daughter to close her plan on one exchange and open it on another. As it turns out, she won't have to do that because she isn't moving until year's end, but Walter told me he would touch base with us in November to get the ball rolling for 2017 sign-up, just to be sure he will have room on his schedule to talk with us before sign-up. in sum, we have been very pleased with our dealings Walter. He is professional, yet friendly, can explain complicated insurance rules to people with no background in insurance, does not try to push products on you, and is absolutely responsive when you have a question or concern. The agents really do care, and it's hard to remember that each person has a different experience. I've never had issues with them, and I've been with them 5 years. Every time I call up to the office, an agent always answers. If I have a question, I can reach out by phone, text, or email. If one of the newer agents do not have a specific answer to my question, they will reach out to their supervisor or manager and get back to me that day or the next business day. I barely knew a lick about Insurance before switching to Donaldson and Emerson with Erie, and the agents educate me on my policies every time I call. They helped not feel dumb to ask a question, and they were patient with me. It seems like They would rather be correct than to misinform the customer. Please do not let 2 personal bad reviews from months ago turn you away. Give them a try! I went from AllState for 10 years to Erie with Donaldson and Emerson, and I truly am a happy customer, and trust in this agency.

However, I was then connected to the local Annapolis office. The agent there was terrible; he increased my auto insurance coverage beyond what I said I wanted without my permission and then basically tried to scare me into keeping the more expensive coverage. I decided these were not the people I wanted to work with so I took my business elsewhere. Lo and behold, a few months later, I started getting bills for the home insurance policy through Geico. I called and cancelled the policy and was told that it would be backdated so that I would owe no money since I have an actual policy with a company that treated me with dignity and respect, unlike the local Geico agent. However, I recently got a bill from a collection agency for this nonexistent homeowners insurance that I never actually signed up for. At lot of wasted time and energy has gone into getting this policy that I never wanted cancelled. I recommend looking elsewhere for an insurance agent.
