It took them 5 days to replace my break pads. I called them so many times trying to get an update on what was going on with my car. It's nearly impossible to get a person on the phone because of their AI bot answering system. Break pads can be changed in a matter of hours so why they had my car so long is a mystery to me, but I will never be taking my car here again. read more

Went in because my wipers would not turn off. They were quick to take it in and in a short while they told me it was fixed. Sure enough the wipers were off. I asked what they found and was told the mechanic just turned them off. We left on a trip to New Orleans and about 3 hours out it started raining. When I tried to turn the wipers on they would not come on. We had to finish the trip using the washer to make the wipers wipe once or twice After returning home I tried to set up an appointment to get them fixed right, I am still waiting for them to contact me for the appointment. read more

I came in to have an issue diagnosed and to have a new key fob programmed and cut. The technician was argumentative and did not seem interested in listening to what I had to say when I was describing the issue I have been experiencing. The issue was eventually diagnosed, partially, but not entirely to my satisfaction. The key was programmed without issue, but then was cut incorrectly and would not even enter the ignition. When I asked for the cutting fee to be comped because there shouldn't be any issues like this, I was treated as if I was the cause of the problem, not the ones who just cut my key incorrectly. After much sighing and eye rolling from the parts manager, they finally agreed to refund the cutting fee, but I will have to come back to have them re-cut the replacement key as they do not keep replacements in stock. After they fix the key, I will not be back. read more

Beware of their Service Department's price-gouging practices aimed at taking advantage of naïve customers!! I brought my car for a simple service at CMA Colonial Kia on Fri, September 26, 2025. I had traveled to Richmond, VA that week to support my mother who had been hospitalized and scheduled for two procedures. On the way there, however, I saw water pooling on the front passenger floorboard. A little research found the cause - a common issue with Telluride: the AC drain tube had clogged forcing the condensation up and into the car. I confirmed this was the issue when I turned off the AC and the drip stopped. Further research showed there was a simple fix: just blow some air up the tube from underneath to clear out the debris. Since I was out of town and with my mother in the hospital, I didn't have time to buy a can of air, so I took it to the nearest dealership hoping for a quick fix at a reasonable price. Online, most people got this simple task done for $60. After arriving at the dealership on Fri AM, I was directed to speak with Sydney Ellington. When I explained that I had an extended warranty through Fidelity Warranty Services, her eyes lit up, and she said Fidelity requires her to first perform a diagnostic for $160 before they will assess whether the work is covered. She also said it would take about 2 hours to do the diagnostic, confirm with Fidelity, and then make the fix. When I asked whether this could be expedited since I was on the way to see my mother at the hospital, she said there was nothing she could do to go faster. She then proceeded to explain further: that if Fidelity covers it, then I'd owe just the $160 diagnostic fee and nothing for the repair; and if Fidelity won't cover it, then I would pay the $160 diagnostic fee + the cost of the repair. My earlier research suggested this likely would not be covered under warranty, so when I clarified, somewhat alarmed, that I'd likely owe $160 + repair costs, she changed her explanation. Now, she said in that case, I'd only owe the cost of the repair, not the diagnostic fee. When I asked what the repair cost would be, she quoted, surprisingly, $160 - the same as the diagnostic fee! At that point I declined, telling her that was a ridiculous price for a 3 mins job and that I wasn't going to wait 2 hours for it. I also told her that I was confident my local dealership would never require a diagnostic before checking on warranty coverage, nor would they charge $160 for this simple job; in fact, they might just do it for free. Today (Mon, September 30), I was proven correct. When I took my car to my local dealership, they took care of the issue (no diagnostic required), without charge, in under 30 mins. She was shamefully prepared to charge me $160 for 3 mins of work while costing me 2 hours of my time. I'm aghast at her brazen attempt overcharge me (at an equivalent rate of $3200/hr!), while also dismissing my urgency given my mother's hospitalization. read more

If I could leave less than one star I would. Please check the other reviews for other Consumers. Unfortunately, this is the second negative review I've had to leave in less than a month regarding Colonial Kia and Kia's service department. In that short time, my check engine light has come on twice, yet I have received no real accountability or permanent resolution from anyone--service management Ryan, the general manager, or The ceo Liza Borches. My 2020 Kia Telluride has been plagued with repeated issues including excessive oil consumption, recurring check engine warnings, and ongoing engine concerns. Despite contacting multiple levels of leadership, I've only received one initial response and then complete silence, even after offering ample time for follow-up. I have only owned this vehicle for three years, but the repeated breakdowns and lack of responsibility from Kia are unacceptable. What makes matters worse is that many other Telluride owners are experiencing these same problems, which shows this is not an isolated case. If you're considering purchasing a Kia--or trusting Kia service with your vehicle--please think twice. The lack of reliability and accountability I've experienced has completely eroded my trust in the brand. No customer should have to fight this hard just to get basic support for a vehicle that should be dependable. read more

Please do your homework before going here. The salespeople were very nice and courteous. THEIR CARS ARE OVER PRICED! They were trying to charge me $51,000 for a EV6 long range AWD, but on their website, the exact same car was listed at $42,000. I didn't see anywhere on the write up about the $42,000 just numbers based on the $51,000 sticker price. Then, on top of that, they had added $995 to your car for stuff like: first oil change, wheel locks, mud flips and etc. I was trying to buy an EV. The oil change really didn't matter, but it was a price added on. So, let me get into the breakdown of the pricing. Kia motors is offering a $7500 discount on the EV6. They tried to factor in that with their car prices, but online it's $42,000 not from the manufacturer, but from the dealership. With an additional $1,000 off of that particular car. So let's do math. $42,000 - price of car $7500 - Kia's discount $1000 - added savings $995 - BS the dealership added on The car should have cost $32,505. I had some negative equity with my trade-in of $13,000. Which means, the price tag should have been $45,505. These fools tried to charge me over $60k for the vehicle. Please do your homework before you visiting this car lot and look at surrounding areas dealerships to see how much they are charging before making a purchase from here. read more

The folks at Colonial Kia are truly the best in the biz.I highly recommend asking for (/insisting on!) Rod. He's knowledgeable, patient, kind, and somehow the perfect contradiction to the "car salesman" stereotype. He was never pushy or "salesy" and instead used his expertise and friendliness to help me make my decision. Jamir, Stephen, and Billy were all also a part of my process and were all also awesome. As happy as I am with my purchase, I think I'm going to miss them all! Haha, (I'd only visited and called about 15 times before I pulled the trigger on my vehicle.I also visited like every other dealership in the tri-cities and these folks were truly the most wonderful.) Update: I went by KIA today (a week later) because they needed my signature on something (my fault). I had asked them to give me a few extra days bc my grandmother had passed and I was out of town. These incredibly kind and thoughtful people... when I walked in, they had the paperwork ready (literally took 10 seconds) AND gifted me flowers and a card with their condolences. I cannot get over the kindness of that. Truly amazing people here and I will sing their praises forveer. read more

CMA's Colonial Kia - Car Dealers Near Me - Chesterfield, Virginia

I purchased a car from this dealership. The car is a certified pre-owned vehicle. The rigorous checklist to certify the car, assuring the mechanics were in excellent condition was the deciding selling point. I discovered the car was burning an excessive amount of oil with not even 100,000 miles on the odometer. They performed an engine treatment for which they tried to charge me $700.00. They were not sure the warranty would cover it. Not sure? Really? I was told they cannot definitively say yea or nay because of "legalities", they can only say "maybe" and also explained their warranty company was difficult to work with so this would be a "lengthy process". Mind you, this car is a certified pre-owned vehicle and I am having all this trouble. I made another complaint about ths CMA to KIA customer service because the treatment did not fix the issue and the car required a brand new engine which took a month in the shop to replace. Not until the last few days in the shop were they even able tell me if it was covered under warranty. Imagine how stressful that is for the customer! I finally took my car and new engine home. A week later the check engine light comes on. I am going to be without my so called certified pre-owned vehicle for another extended period of time. I did not pay cash in full for this car and have many, many payments left to make. I am quite certain I have been bamboozled and sold a lemon under the guise of it being a quality machine. Sadly, there are many who have heard my laments and concur and I have been told multiple times I am being played for a fool by Colonial CMA. This is exceedingly frustrating and I have little faith in the credibility of this dealership. They did supply a very nice, no charge loaner and will once again. They also offer fun, free snacks in the waiting room. I can also add the service advisor has finally stopped giggling every time I talk to him. The executive manager also thinks he is quite the comedian. How patronizing. The general manager has been relatively so so. He seems to want to do a good job despite CMA blatantly misrepresenting themselves with no attempt at accountability, but I am not convinced he likes his job at CMA. Who really knows, the entire process has been a nightmare. I wish I had a better experience to report but it has been all.but delightful. read more

I had an excellent experience at Colonial Kia. Recently purchased a new KIA from this dealership. Here are my thoughts: 1) Excellent customer service - from the folks who answered the phone, to the finance manager, to our salesperson, everyone was professional, easy to work with, and knowledgeable. Shout out to Kim our finance manager for helping us get in and out quickly when we didn't have that much time to spend at the dealership, helping us get the best auto loan rate for our needs, and being wonderful to work with. 2) Our salesperson, Rod, was world-class. I mean the best car sales rep I have ever worked with! He spent so much time with us when we received the car going through the features, making sure all the safety settings were set the way we want it to, made sure the car was clean inside and out, and more. He would have spent more time with us too but we had to leave a bit early. The floor mats arrived a day after our car did. I don't live particularly close to this dealership, so I asked if he could ship them to me. Instead, he personally drove the mats to my house. This guy's customer service is legendary in my book. 3) Lead times and overall availability- this dealership seems to have the best inventory in the central VA area. I called around to several dealerships too- Richmond, Midlothian, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, etc. Colonial Heights KIA had a few unallocated models (ones that didn't have a deposit on it from a customer) on order to their dealership- with one that fit the color/trim I was looking for. I was able to snatch it up in time, but they had many other unallocated ones too. So instead of waiting 4-14 months as I was quoted from other dealerships, I was able to get this real quick. For custom orders, this dealership seems to have some of the lowest lead times at roughly 4-5 months. That will probably improve too as supply chain continues to improve post-COVID. 4) Pricing- I felt like the pricing was fair given market conditions and compared to other dealerships. Yes, there was a $2k markup above MSRP, but compared to other dealerships this was below average. After calling around most dealers were $4k and above on their markup (one had a $8k markup!). I do get a free oil change on my first oil change, which is nice. Given post-COVID supply chain, I am happy with the price I paid (especially since I didn't have to wait 14 months for the car to arrive) 5) Overall, fantastic experience. Will definitely buy my next KIA from this dealership again. Well done Colonial Heights KIA team! read more

please do not do business with these people. I had the worst experience. First I asked them to check my credit before coming into the store because I would rather not waste my time or their time. I let them know that I had surgery the day before and didn't make it the day I had my surgery, so I let them know that I would not be up for sitting all say. I was told oh yeah you are already pr-approved. I told them I had a trade-in. This was a 2015 Hyundai Tucson Limited Addition SUV. They had their guy go out and look at my car and found the tire sensor was throwing a light on the dash. The financial lady came over to me and said we need to discuss your trade- in prior to you purchasing, telling me, we can only give you 1500.00 for your trade-in which make your payment on a car over 700.00 monthly. The financial lady stated that it would cost them 500.00 to 1,000.00 to fix the sensor. I told her that is a lie because I got a quote when I got new tires that it is only 100.00 parts and labor. Then she said they would have to replace the blue link radio on the car so that it would work. I told her that the blue link radio was told to me that it could not be updated because of the type of app that is in this year of vehicle by the Hyundai Dealer. You buy after market radios on Amazon all day long for 100.00. She proceeded to tell me they just gave another Hyundai owner that traded in the same dat 3300.00 but it was much nicer than mine. These people need to learn what they are talking about prior to discussing your vehicle with you and trying to sell you their car. I got up and walked out of this dealership and will never return. I hate companies that say something and do something else for a customer. I seriously don't know how I was pre-approved either because they could not even pull up my paperwork off of their website and had to give this information again while there. We were stuck in a vehicle that they rolled up to the front for me to test drive and I know my son and I was sitting in that for 20 minutes before the young lady came back and said we need to do your application again and estimate your trade-in first. This place doesn't even deserve a one star. read more

Had my engine die and brought it to Colonial they said the part had a lifetime warranty and fixed it in a day amazing customer service.

I have had the absolute worst experiences with Colonial Kia on Walthall Center dating back to March of 2024.My warranty company advised me to take my car to Colonial Kia.Upon taking my car yo Colonial Kia, I encountered a gentleman by the name of Bruce.Bruce informed me that he would call the warranty company and start a claim.Once the problem is found he would contact me.There was no communication for several weeks.I reached out to Bruce for an update and he provided no update but promised to give me a call back and did not.I reached out to Bruce 4 days later for an update and to let him know that I had to return the rental car I had for 2 weeks.I also let him know that I was informed that he should have given me a loaner vehicle.( I was never offered or even made aware that it was an option).Enterprise rental car dropped me off at Colonial Kia at which time I was given a dirty loaner vehicle which had stained seats. In April 2024 I received a call from Bruce stating that upon their findings he needed to reach out to the warranty company and he would be in contact. In June 2024 received a call from someone identifying themselves as Ron the manager stating that Bruce left a message stating that the warranty company required them to take apart the engine and that my permission to start the process was needed.I agreed to allow them to start the process to get things started.1 month (July 2024 ) passed and I received another call from Ron stating he needed my permission to start the process so take the car apart.I explained to him that I had already given permission but that he had permission again. At this time during the conversation I asked once warranty company approves the work, when would my vehicle be available? I was told approximately 2-3 weeks(which would make it sometime in August 2024.Several months passed and I received an text man from Ron on October 15,2024 saying that my vehicle would be ready for pick up tomorrow morning. Also stating via text that he was able to get the warranty company to approve a new engine and not an old one.I thanked him and let him know that I would be there in the morning (Wednesday October 16,2024. I arrived to pick up my vehicle and I was told by Ron again that the car had a brand new engine and that the car sounded a little louder than normal and it was the alternator. When I drove off I called back to Colonial Kia spoke with Ron and explained to him that the car sounded horrible and that it was pulling to one side.Ron stated once the car was completed he drove it himself and was not aware of any issues.I called my warranty company and was informed that he should have never let me leave with the vehicle if it was still having issues. He could have placed a call to them and made them aware of any pending issues and they could have added it to the warranty to be resolved. When I called back to speak with Ron, he appeared to want to be argumentative, and he stated, you can bring the vehicle back and you can pay for us to replace the alternator or you can call your warranty company. On Thursday October 17,2024 I placed several calls to my warranty company inquiring about what I can do concerning the matter at hand. After speaking to the warranty company I was made aware that I was not given a new engine as Ron stated, but a remanufactured one. When I called Rob back he tried to say that he did not tell me that and attempted to be argumentative.I explained to him that I will not go back and forth, however I will be contacting whoever I could to address the issues at hand. October 18,2024 I woke up and drove to Colonial Kia at which time I was told that they could not give me a time as to when they could get to my car and that there was no loaner vehicle available. And I'm welcome to start a new claim. My question to him, why should I have to start and new claim when this is an existing issue.I let the customer service agent know that I can not still all day and to notify me when they can resolve the issue.I left. read more

I went there as my old dealership had stopped representing Kia (Patrick Kia). I was at one of the milestones of maintenance and I did obtain a quote from Patrick's other location as to the cost of somethings needed done. I was quoted for the maintenance portion ($78), and was told they would match the cost of the other item I needed but it ended up looking like they had not matched the price and I was charged higher. I had a good experience of trust with my former dealership and am not sure about my experience here. The prices for other items also seem higher. read more

I purchased two Kia's from this location over the years. Absolutely love both. My saleswoman for both was Marion. An absolute gem! My first time here, I had no clue what I was looking for in a car or if I even wanted a Kia. I was just riding through the lot browsing and she came out and approached me. She had me come in and make a list of my wants and we discussed and she picked an Optima that fulfilled my list. Perfect! While we did the paperwork, literally every Kia employee who walked by my stopped and spoke, everyone was extremely nice and really made me feel special. They offered me drinks and snacks many times. Absolutely exceptional customer service that I really appreciated. My second time in was the exact same. Everyone just goes above and beyond for the customer and I love that. I have got to tell you how fantastic my experience was last Saturday at Colonial Kia! The Manager, Billy D'amato, and his team, specifically Greg and Kim, were incredible. This is my first experience buying a car and they didn't skip a beat. Not only was Greg able to help me find exactly what I wanted (based on zero information, literally, I had no idea what I was looking for other than safety features), Billy worked the absolute best loan rates for me based on my income/credit score, which in turn allowed Kim to help me secure the best warranty! Worst customer service. We went in for a recal part and asked them to look at why the check engine light was on. Opening the mail late one afternoon my wife and I were surprised to receive in Invoice from Colonial Kia demanding a substantial amount of money. It also stated that if the invoice was not paid by the next day, interest at an unspecified rate would be added. There were no details on the invoice of who what where or when the purchase was made, just a line entry for the money. My wife and I have had nothing to do with this company and most certainly did not purchase anything from them. Our first thoughts were that our identity had been stolen. I rang the company and was told that there was nobody there who could address the matter. First thing next morning I took a 30-minute drive to the dealership to try and resolve the matter. Upon arrival I was told by the receptionist that they had an employee of the same name and the invoice was meant for him. I asked why they had my name and address in their system and it turns out my wife had her car serviced there some 13 years earlier. In an effort to avoid a repeat performance I asked the receptionist to remove our details from their system and she refused. She stated that once you're in the system you are listed for ever. I can only imagine that this is for their commercial benefit. I found the receptionist to be detached and perfunctory. It was all very matter of fact, lacking any sort of empathy. No assurance that it will never happen again. Not even a hint of an apology for the aggravation, or the overnight anxiety they caused two Senior Citizens. The whole experience was very unpleasant and the Kia response was to treat us, and it, as an inconvenience to them. I hope I never have to deal with them again for ever.
