Brian (part of the staff) greeted us on Day 1, and he was there just about all of the time. He was extremely, extremely helpful. And extremely, extremely nice. Service like this goes a long way. Some special notes which made this place way, way above your typical hotel stay (as compared to mainstream brands like Hilton or Marriot).. The room(s) were impeccable with detail. Everything from the chairs outside of the rooms, the towels, folding the beds/pillows etc... You could tell they put a custom touch on. The breakfast was nothing short of delicious staring with the coffee, which was excellent quality coffee. Not farmer bros or max house, this stuff was top tier. (I am a coffee snob and do strictly pour overs only at home). Breakfast burritos were delicious. And the huckleberry jam and bread was excellent. You get a REAL breakfast here. Great location, you can walk down the hill, there is a nice place to eat nearby (Belton chalet). It is very peaceful. The air is so clean you can smell it. 100% highest and strongest endorsement.

I would not recommend booking the Honeymoon Suite. When we made our reservation, it was the only room available, so we took it. Having now seen the hotel in person, the price is very difficult to justify. The room itself is tiny, which we expected in a historic building and didn't mind. The issue is that it costs significantly more because it's described as having the best view. In reality, it's tucked around the side of the building. You can see the mountains, but the less expensive front-facing rooms actually have a much better view. The listing also advertises a private balcony. Technically there is a balcony, but it is shared with the neighboring room, and the other guests clearly weren't happy to have to share the space. Their dirty laundry was unlovely, hung to dry alongside the slim view. Also, do not dine here. If you're considering staying here, I'd recommend booking one of the standard front-facing rooms instead. Based on our experience, I would not recommend paying extra for the Honeymoon Suite.

For example, we arrived late one evening from Glacier Park, around 9:00 pm, and I was planning to make some spaghetti for a later dinner for my two kids. When I looked for a pot to boil the noodles, however, I couldn't find one, and then I saw the sign by the phone in the cabin that read "If you need anything," to call their service number. When I called the number, there was no answer, and since I had stayed at the Great Bear Inn before, I walked over to the main building, which was always open for guests, to find someone to help. When I found the place quiet and the manager's office closed, however, I went into the public kitchen area and took a pot, walked back to my cabin, and made the spaghetti. After my family ate the food, I washed and cleaned the pot and returned it to the kitchen. The following day I called the landlady, named "Bunny," and asked what I needed to do to check out the following day. When she asked me why I had called the previous night, I explained I needed to borrow a pot to cook spaghetti, but after I tried calling and then walked over to the office and found no one to help, I borrowed one from the public kitchen area, used it to boil the noodles, and after eating, I had cleaned the pot and promptly returned it to the kitchen. Bunny was irate and scolded me for doing this, insinuating that I had broken some sort of unpublished rule that the kitchen was off limits to guests. When I objected and said that I had both called and walked to the office for help, she was became rude to me, saying that she had an early bedtime schedule and could not be bothered after 9:00 pm. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at this blatant disregard of the customer's need, she became hostile, and when I told her that I had paid over $1500 to stay in the supposedly furnished cabin for three nights and therefore had a reasonable expectation to have the place furnished as was stated in the advertisement. When Bunny insisted that the pot I had needed was included in the kitchen area, I looked once again and finally found it -- but it was stored behind a wooden panel that was stuck due to poor maintenance of the property. When I explained this to her she was entirely unsympathetic and cold toward me... I have no ill-will toward Bunny and her husband Larry who manage the new version of the "Great Bear Inn." I had stayed at the resort twice before in previous years and under the former management my experience then was happy and the service was excellent. However I can no longer recommend the Great Bear Inn because the new management apparently has no idea of what decent customer service means. Let me close by saying that on the day of our departure, Larry, the husband of Bunny, aggressively came to the cabin and pounded on the door telling us to get out because it was almost 11:00 AM. At the time I was washing dishes we used there because there was a sign posted that said that all residents must wash the dishes before leaving, but Larry told me to just forget it and get out... He and Bunny then sat in their noisy ATV jeep in front of cabin until we finished packing the car and we drove off.... Disgraceful and childish behavior, to say the least, and I will NEVER stay at the Great Bear Inn again. For these and other reasons, not the least being the $500 per night price for staying there, I EMPHATICALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GREAT BEAR INN.

Every morning we were given an explanation on what we were eating. Game room and full kitchen for guest to cook if they wanted to. We traveled from Jackson hole, Yellowstone and onto to Glacier. This is by far the best place we stayed. Owner Bill is very friendly and knowledgeable on the area.

The breakfast was amazing and each day we had something unique and expertly prepared. The food was absolutely delicious and the coffee was great as well. The owner, Bill, is a fantastic guy and we loved being able to get to know him and learn more about how he ended up running a B&B. He also gave us excellent recommendations about hiking, restaurants, and breweries and we loved getting to meet him. This place is a gem and we would 100% stay here again in the future!

The property is based on a lake with so many activities like kayaking etc . There is a gated pool area for people who are staying at the lodge itself. We went to the resort late July to hike so we purchased tickets for the lifts and alpine slide…read more The parking lot is quite big so there are plenty of parking spaces. The main building was empty except for a couple of employees selling tickets. I thought it could definitely use a refresh but we were not there for the lodge. We rode up 2 lifts to reach the top of Whitefish Mountain. There are two peaks you can take lifts up and we went to the higher peak for one if the longer hikes. Both lifts were easy to get on, getting off was a little sketchy as we had to quickly jump off and move several steps forward to avoid being hit by the lift. Thank goodness for the lift operator assisting people off the lift! I'm sure it's much easier to exit when skiing. The ride up was great. Such beautiful views! There is a small bar/restaurant at the top with amazing patio views and a restroom. We hiked down the Danny On Trail From the top. There are plenty of trail Markers so you cannot get lost. We did see a sign warning us of bear activity while hiking but we never actually saw any animal activity, not even a deer. A majority of the trail had beautiful views of Whitefish Lake. The lower part of the hiking trail was covered with dozens of people picking huckleberries so you just had to navigate around those groups. The hike took approximately 3 hours to reach the Alpine Slide area. You could ride the slide down or jump on the ski lift to go down. Whichever you purchased tickets to do. There are is also a separate trail for mountain bikers but we didn't cross those trails until closer to the Alpine slide area. We purchased tickets for the Alpine Slide so we jumped in line which went quickly. There are two slides to choose from. One slide is "fast" and the other is slower and more scenic. We chose the scenic as it was our first time on the slide. You can also choose the speed as you navigate down the slide. The slide drops you right off at the bottom of the resort so you can walk directly to the parking lot. I would definitely recommend the hiking and Alpine slide. It was very scenic and a wonderful experience.

The only reason why I'm giving them 4 stars and not 5 is because they have absolutely NO SECURITY CAMERAS at the ski racks. I went inside to buy some pictures that this ski resort took of my wife and I and 10min later I came outside and my skis were stolen! Be careful! The ski resort said they could pull the security footage and after they made me wait 40min they said they actually didn't have cameras pointing to the ski racks so there was nothing they could do! Ridiculous. My rental skis were stolen and they did nothing to try and find who did it. They should 100% have security cameras pointing to the ski racks!
