    Shredded washcloth

One chair, shredded washcloth, coffee pot had not been washed. 30 years ago this was a nice place to stay. Now it's filthy and needs a serious facelift. I stayed 1 night, forfeited my 2nd night and moved to another hotel. August 2023

Food was incredible! Ambiance amazing. Inside a sweet lodge you get an intimate and cozy restaurant that serves exquisite food with great variety!

    Stink bug

Stayed here for the night on our way to glacier. For $300+ a night, I expected a lot more than what was presented. The rooms are decently clean, just don't look too closely at the floor or upholstered furniture. We seemed to have gotten a room with a remodeled bathroom and it looked okay. Although we only stayed for one night, we found stink bugs would somehow find their way into our room. We let the front desk know about our pest problem and got a simple sorry followed by an explanation of how it's been a longtime issue but that it's just a mystery of how they get into the rooms and I got the feeling that this was something they just expect their patrons to deal with. Like I said, for $300+ a night, I at least expect the rooms to be pest free. The overall place has a very antiquated vibe which I don't mind as long as there's sufficient upkeep (which I didn't feel was the case here). Also be aware that since the building is so old, sounds carry very easily through doors and walls.

Enjoyed a great four days of wedding festivities while at GML. Located beside a well maintained golf course our wedding was held outdoors and reception in the large tent "pavilion". Working with Tresha was great from planning each evenings events to the setup of the chairs, tables, and dance floor! The "meal tasting" with Chef Phil was a great example of the quality of all the meals! Among favorites were the Tequilla Sunrise Cheesecake, the lemon dill salmon, and the teramasu! Everything was served buffet style and the hot stuff was hot and the cold stuff cold! Very tasty! The staff did an incredible job from the front desk to the coffee cart, from the bar staff to the banquet staff, from the housekeeping staff to the shuttle staff. I would highly recommend the Grouse Mountain Lodge for any future events!

We had a lovely room overlooking the golf course. The service was fantastic. Everything was clean. We enjoyed walking around the grounds. Such beautiful flowers. Wonderful experience!

    Early morning construction

When you pull up to the property you realize that the photo they use to advertise makes this hotel seem much nicer than it actually is. When we arrived there was a leak from the AC unit and the carpet was wet, and it still is. Woke up this morning on vacation to construction happening on our window. After driving through West Glacier and Whitefish I can't imagine ever choosing to stay here again. There are so many other places and wet carpet and construction doesn't really work for me on vacation.

Great location. Had bikes to ride so that was nice. Nice bar/restaurant. I gave it 4 stars. It is probably more like 3 1/2 but I did not want to just give it 3. The pillows could have been way better though. Other than that, if I am ever in Whitefish again, I would definitely stay there again. Staff was friendly.

This was our first time in Whitefish. Maybe this is the best as it gets. But come on! I thought I was in a Montana prison cell. The ability to hear my next door "cell mates" kept me up all night. And the intermittent train running close by didn't help either. I gave it two stars because the shower was nice. Full blast of water. That aside, try another place. Unless prison living is your thang.

The main entrance to the bar and seating area

Sara was our bar tender and was wonderful. She got our drinks quick and got our food orders right away. She was wonderfully personable and a joy to talk to. Would definitely recommend the bar service here.

Does the lodge have a fitness room?

Yes, but it is a little hard to find. Behind the check-in desk there are two restrooms. You have to go through a restroom to get to the fitness room. You need to have your room key to get in.

Shayla, our host, texted us ahead of time to make sure we were all set for a smooth check-in. That small gesture alone made us feel genuinely cared for. Each day, Shayla prepared the most delicious homemade baked goods, which made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Since we planned to head to Glacier National Park early each day, she kindly packed to-go breakfasts for us--always thoughtful, fresh, and satisfying. On the mornings we stayed in, she served beautiful homemade breakfasts that were just as delicious. The extra touches throughout the lodge made our stay even more special--the self-serve charcuterie, fresh fruit, and beverages were such a nice bonus. The lodge itself was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. We stayed for five nights and can confidently say this was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. After long hikes in the park, we looked forward to soaking in the hot tub each evening. The backyard had BBQs, lawn games, and picnic tables--it would be a perfect place for a family reunion or even a small wedding. Kayla, our hostess, couldn't have been more helpful. She was warm, engaging, and full of great suggestions for exploring Glacier. She and her coworker Meghan prepared the most delicious breakfasts each morning--beautifully presented and thoughtfully tailored to our dietary needs. This place is truly a treasure. As great as it is to visit Missoula, we usually get out and have an adventure and since she has fallen in love with the Whitefish area we decided to spend a couple of days there and lucked into staying at this world class lodge. Oktoberfest was going on so the town was abuzz and rooms were limited and Megan booked this for us, the last room they had. I have a feeling we just were in the right place and the right time with a cancellation or something because this place is something special. As you can see from my pics and others, this place is spectacular. The towering rock fireplace, the family-style dining area, my room was spacious, welcoming, and cozy. The bed was perfect, I slept so well in the cool Montana air! We were graciously fixed a delicious western Montana breakfast of sausage, pancakes, and a large bowl of fresh fruit- all with excellent coffee.
