Horrible, horrible service and bar staff were rude. We had a party of six, waited a long time to be seated and were finally told we could have ordered food at the bar. It would have been nice to know that when we first got there. Ordered food at the bar, finally seated and still waited 30 minutes for our food to show up. After the food arrived, some of it cold, not one single server came back to our table to see how things were or offer water. I finally had to go up to a group of servers just standing around to ask for water for our group and the bill. The server came back with only one glass of water, unbelievable! Asked for a manager which one never showed up. Extremely disappointed and will never go back!! read more

Came here with your group of almost 30 and they did a fabulous job accommodating us. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Everyone raved about how delicious the food was. From the pulled porketta, pulled Chicken, Pastrami, pizza, and salads. Also the games on the main floor are pretty cool. This place is definitely a do over if I am back in Duluth! I've been bringing family from out of town here lately, and they all have loved it. My grandmother (who has a hard time walking) struggled with the long walk from the elevators to the dinning area... hard to complain too much about that just because of the way the building is. attended a wedding rehearsal dinner in which pizza was served. It was the worst pizza I had ever eaten in 50+ years. The specialty pizza in which cost the couple extra I guess paid for just the crust the buffalo chicken had ingredients only in the center everyone attending came up with the term its a bullseye chicken pizza. All the other pizza's were not baked complete the crust was soft and hard to cut or even chew it was a gummy texture. read more

My nephew had been here after a hockey game, this restaurant is located next to two hockey arenas. We were in town for a tour of the local university UMD. He talked me into Clydes over other higher rated restaurants on yelp. We had the wings and fried ravioli for appetizers. And burgers for our main meal. My daughter and her friend had the ravioli with Alfredo sauce as substitute for marinara sauce. The appetizers were very good. The burgers were above average and very juicy! My daughter said the Alfredo sauce was to die for along with the ravs. I will admit I was a bit taken back when you walk in the main level is a giant game room with toddler size chess game and cornhole set up. You have to climb the stairs for the dining area and bar. Will go back! read more

Worst experience ever!!!! We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and it took an hour and a half to get our food and it was FREEZING COLD! Not to mention they brought us the wrong order. Spoke to the manager who addressed NOTHING and reheated the food in an oven (did not remake) . We had to get our own drinks from upstairs and had to get our own napkins because the servers were nonexistent. I never complain but this was the absolute experience I've ever had. read more

The wife and I ate here before heading to Geek Prom at The Depot. I had the Porketta Sandwich and the wife had a burger. The Porketta rivaled (and almost passed) my mother in law's (which is impressive). I really appreciated that they had a variety of microbrews and that they had stouts and Porter's other than Guiness. The wait staff was super friendly and it was quick service. Being in the building of the old Clyde Iron Works, the ambiance is really cool. This is a fun place for a group to have dinner. It is not a place, however, you'd come for a quiet dinner alone. read more

Clyde Iron Works is a very unusual restaurant. It is located in a former industrial plant with three levels - very cool - and its menu and decorations play homage to the laborers there. Definitely a place to go for the ambiance. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever had anything good off their menu, except the foccacia bread appetizer. On the third hand, though, I've been at two events where they catered (one when they first opened, or even before they opened), and their food there was excellent. read more

I brought two young children here. We have had some great experiences however the last time the workers got angry that the kids were playing with the life size chess and other games. I'm not sure what they're there for if they cannot be played. It made out visit uncomfortable. I feel as though the owner was very embarrassed about his employees behavior towards us because he told us that should have never happened. The food is delicious. I don't know if I'd go back with the kids because of how they were treated. read more

I was pleasantly surprised. I am originally from Duluth but have lived on the Iron Range for the last 30 years. I had no idea they had turned this into a restaurant. My father-in-law had worked here many years ago. I like the atmosphere. The server was a cutie and very attentive. She went out of her way to accommodate my dietary issues. I ordered a cream cheese olive burger, no bun, with a side of veggies. The burger was cooked perfectly with a nice char taste. Veggies had the same char taste. All in all a very nice experience. We were brought here by my brother and sis-in-law for dinner after they showed us some sights around the lake, and we opted to sit upstairs and be served. The service seemed a bit overwhelmed, as there was a party/event going on in the back of the upstairs loft. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or what, but everyone seemed a bit on edge. We were seated and the service was a bit slow getting going, but we got our drinks and our orders in (we were in no hurry anyway, as my 3-year-old was with). Twenty minutes went by, and we noticed people talking with servers and abandoning their tables - without getting their food. Thirty minutes went by and the server apologized and said the kitchen was running behind and it would be 5 more minutes. 40 minutes went by and she came by to apologize again and said 5 more minutes. I took my son downstairs to play (again, we were only slightly annoyed, but in no hurry) and the server then came over and said our food was next up, apologized and said our dinner would be on the house. Wow, ok! The manager on duty, who appeared a bit flustered, also whisked by and said "Sorry guys - everything, on the house!" So, we walted. It took all total an hour for us to get our food, but it was free. If they hadn't done that - in all honestly - I would have never considered going back. But everything we ordered was fantastic (omg the homemade chips!!). When we were all done we thought we'd have to pay for our drink orders, but they said we were totally covered and apologized again and asked us to come back. Way to keep it classy, Clyde Iron Works. I like this place! It is pretty cool and the building is pretty cool. The service is very good. The wood fire grilled pizza is very tasty. The Bloody Mary bar is good with a lot ingredients to pick. First off, the building is amazing. I love that they used an existing structure instead of building new. The full order of onion rings is gigantic and rings were pretty good. Blue cheese was amazing though. Hubby and I both had calzones. His sausage and pepperoni was to die for! I don't know where they get their pepperoni, but it's delicious (and I actually hate pepperoni). I had the steak calzone, which wasn't as good, but still decent. The wood fired flavor is subtle, but unique. Our waitress was awesome, even though she was hustling trying to keep up with a JV hockey team that was eating there at the time. I'd like to go back again to try a burger or their salmon chowder. Overall another great Duluth restaurant! read more

One of the coolest bar settings in Duluth area. Plenty of space for big and little groups. Can't report on the food because I just stopped for a drink or two. Bartenders where not overly friendly or helpful which is the reason for only 3 stars. I'll be back to give them a second chance next time I visit Duluth. read more

This place is very cool. A renovated steel plant? Right up my alley! I was blown away by the amount of work it must have taken to get this place in the condition it was in, especially when I think of what it was like , most likely for years. WOW! And the food! I ordered the wood-grilled wings with suace on the side and a side salad with ranch. My wife had a buffalo chicken wrap that was on special. My wings were amazing. The splits were a little small, but the drummies were huge. They were grilled, smoky, and had just the right amount of seasoning. The combination of flavor from the grill, the chicken and the seasoning was awesome! I didn't even use the sauce. I had ordered the honey chipotle on the side. It was sweet, with quite a kick at the end, but the wings on their own were so good, I didn't need it. The salad was fresh, tasty and the the dressing was gourmet. (possibly homemade) Unfortunately, the cucumbers and tomatoes had been previously frozen, so they were mushy and their texture had been broken down. We drive to Duluth from Mpls/St. Paul about once a year for a change of scenery. We stopped here for lunch on a Monday in February 2015 when we initially arrived in town. I had looked up Clyde's and was interested in the history but curious about the building. WOW, neat place! It was remodeled but yet still has that old rustic feel to it. The kitchen is on ground floor, and there were some folks having lunch there, but I wanted to sit at the bar which was on the upper level. Just a few people there (lunch on a Monday is probably a bit quiet for this type of place). There are stairs to the upper level but we opted for the elevator (a bit further back inside) due to my bad knee as well as my wife's who has had both knees replaced. The bartender was pleasant and he was mostly taking care of the handful of us who were there. I don't recall what my wife ordered but she said it was good. I'm a bit of a chicken wing aficionado so I always have to try wings anywhere. I ordered the 12-piece buffalo wings (9.95?). They only have a handful of flavors but I wanted to try the buffalo. Wow...they WERE really good! I've always tried to search for good wing-places in Duluth but never seem to be able to find anything so I think I've now found the place (apparently) that has the best wings in town. They are completely grilled and they don't use your off-the-shelf everyday buffalo sauce. They came with a generous portion of celery and some good blue cheese (you can get Ranch). My only complaint is the blue cheese was more liquid than chunky. I prefer a thicker and chunkier blue cheese (like you get at Grandma's Restaurant). I enjoyed a few local beers from Lake Superior Brewing...the ESB or something like that. Good beer. The building interior and atmosphere is wonderful...very neat place. My wife isn't always very impressed with much but she liked her food and commented it was a neat place. We will definately be back on our future visits to Duluth, and rest assured I'll be ordering wings. It's a little difficult to find but it is just off the highway along with lake and it's worth the visit. read more

The decor is amazing. Clean, modern, but industrial. All kinds of interesting things to look at, a giant chess set, gorgeous wooden doors everywhere, etc. Great ambiance. The food. Unf. I had an order of chicken nachos - an appetizer, about $11 - and I didn't even get 1/6 of the way through it. My husband had the Clyde's Reuben. He was concerned because it has kimchi, and he thought that could distract from the other flavors. That was NOT the case. The flavour and spice was well balanced and added to the overall, rather than detract or distract from it. The near was amazing, with a great smokiness unlike any Reuben I've ever had before. The sauce tasted like homemade, maybe artisan... Not something out of a bottle of Kraft dressing. The fries were awesome too. Not A ton of variety in beers, but a good representation variety of styles in what they did have. We will definitely be back. read more

Everything was just meh. Pizza was okay, but a little greasy. I had the chicken and a baked potato. Chicken was bland and I had to ask for butter and sour cream. If the kitchen staff forgets something someone has to go down the stairs to the kitchen and it takes forever. I would've had a second beer but nobody ever came by to see if I needed one. Bathrooms are also downstairs and to quote my daughter, "kinda creepy". We won't be returning. read more
