We don't go through groceries and household supplies at an abnormal rate- but since we remodeled…read moreour kitchen in the Fall '21, we've been wanting to slightly elevate our almost 2yr old remodeled garage with a mounted pantry for an empty space. We thought about going with one of our carpenter guys to build us a pantry but thought going for professional closet builders, would be more in line with what hubs already has going on in the garage. California came up as the only place we could perhaps use- if price was right. We tried our luck and figured if these folks cater to closets, they could probably bend a little with pantries. Greeting was warm when we came here and were shown around. We looked at the materials/colors/styles then made an appointment for an at-home Saturday morning design consultation. Marielena(?) was a fire cracker and super talented. We let her do her thing in our garage, gave her the space she needed to come up with 2 pantry styles and different pricing for each. In the end, she showed us renderings of both options. While we didn't go for that $5000+ sticker shock pantry payment just yet after shelling out quite a bit for a new kitchen and other much-needed home projects, holding off was best. Not to mention, we were told of significant delays which, during these times, is understandable. California Closets stand behind their brand and workmanship and something we really appreciate. Everything Marielena(?) designed was personalized to our needs, and style preferences- even if we didn't sign on that dotted line.

Jeni was nothing short of amazing! I was astonished with how much we accomplished in 3 short hours…read moreworking together on a small office I needed help decluttering and clearing out. We cleared out my office so I can use it for work and house guests. I now have my guest room back!! Jeni neatly organized all my books and photo albums that I wanted to keep; and everything else we were able to sort into garbage, donation, sell, and clothing swap (something my friends and I do quarterly). Jeni helped me set aside a few piles of paper and such that I need to tackle on my own, and she armed me with a plan to make this project manageable. Not only did Jeni help me tackle this project, she efficiently reorganized many of my other storage spaces to keep me on the organized track. During the time we worked together, she had great ideas and implemented those ideas right on the spot; hanging up hooks, hammering in nails to hang artwork, and created an outbox in an area I would never have thought of. Thank you, Jeni! She also does this incredible follow up where she emails you a task list of all the things we spoke about and additional items she has jotted down while we were working together, complete with links of where to buy any needed items. And she is available for any follow up questions, or in my case, design ideas. I can't recommend Jeni enough for any organizational or decluttering needs. She knows her stuff and is a joy to work with!

Me love me some Clutter Cowgirl. Jeni = awesome: she's smart, funny and focused and kinda hot, too,…read morewhich is a plus. She turned my apartment--essentially a storage space for all my crap--into a neat, livable space that you can actually WALK in. It's amazing how much stress is alleviated when you remove unwanted items. I suggest it for all facets of life. I'm sure she would, too. If you're a helpless, mentally deficient slob/shut-in/hoarder like me, you'll benefit greatly from her services. Boom.

Just had a closet installation to find there isn't enough height to hang clothing without it…read moretouching the ground. There was sufficient space to have these units positioned high enough that clothing could hang clear. Also note these are women's shirts pictured - it would be far worse if it was men's clothing hanging in here. The units are also so low you need to bend down to access. It's not functional and the designer was more worried about the shelf space above and aesthetics than the fact it was hanging space when I spoke to her about the design issues. when I called to say there was an issue with their design i was told because I signed off (the designer never demonstrated dimensions and only showed diagrams), I would be charged to remedy. Note: The first comment was you will need to pay to fix this rather than we are really sorry you are not satisfied with the installed product. A shelving unit is also extremely shallow given there is space for it to be twice as deep. To give a sense of size. It's 12 inches deep - there is space for a 24 inch deep shelving unit which would allow flexibility to store folded clothing -and would maximize the space. the long hanging space isn't long enough without sacrificing the shelf space they made at the top. Once again more height is available. It's incredibly disappointing to wait weeks for an outcome that is so far from satisfactory particularly given the cost involved. I'm also left wondering how a company that specializes in custom closets and does this everyday would deliver a solution that is clearly not functional. This is after having someone out to measure before installing - it was multiple visits and neither the designer or installer had said that the hanging space wasn't long enough to actually hang clothing with sufficient clearance. It's beyond disappointing and the attitude of the company is one of how do I do the least possible to make you grudgingly accept this rather than how do I make you a happy customer. When discussing the install with the designer (she showed up late after the install was completed even though they have a policy the designer comes when the install is happening) she even was rolling her eyes at one point when she thought I wasn't able to see her. The service has been nothing short of appalling and as a potential customer you need to know what happens when they don't get the design right and how well they work to resolve issues. This was completed 2pm, designer arrived around 2.30pm and I am still waiting for the owner to call me to discuss how this will be remedied (this is the following day). This is a company that doesn't stand behind their product and lacks customer focus. Tuesday 3rd September - after promising they would call Friday afternoon to let me know how they would address the issues, they didn't contact me. I had not heard from the store manager by 3.15pm on Tuesday so called them. Still no course of action - was informed because I signed off I was responsible for the cost of replacement and that the entire wardrobe would need to be pulled out and rebuilt. They once again said they didn't know what would be hanging in the wardrobe and if it was a kids room or adults. My clothing was in the wardrobe when they measured - there was zero doubt this was an adults wardrobe. Monica also discussed putting shoe racks under the hanging space - which is clearly not a possibility given the design she actually delivered. She also didn't ever show me heights just pictures of the design. Given this is a company which designs wardrobes and they are custom - I would expect them to design something which is functional an provides adequate clearance to hang items. They promised to get back to me Wednesday with a course of remediation. After spending so much money its extremely poor customer service and they don't stand behind their work.

First, the positives. The design process was excellent, Rachael the salesperson was helpful and…read moreresponsive, and the final installation looks very good. But that's about all I have to say that's positive about this company, even though there is a preponderance of positive reviews here. However, in our case... The first installation was scheduled for Monday 4/9-Tuesday 4/10, about five weeks after we signed the contracts. But we were initially told the installation would take place in two to three weeks. Then, on April 1 we were told that the installation needed to be pushed forward three weeks because some of the material hadn't been delivered. That was a big thing. So the installation actually took place the week of April 23, two full months after we contracted with this company. Even then, on the first day of the installation when we were told the installer would arrive between 9:30 and 11, he did not arrive until 12:15. That was a small thing. On the second day, he arrived just before 11, which is sort of late for this kind of job. But maybe that's just me. That was a small thing. The bottom shelves of the closet installation were delivered as shoe racks, when we had specified regular shelves. So he had to come back on Saturday with the correct shelves. That was a big thing. On the final day of the installation (Saturday), he brought the correct shelves but did not bring all of the drawer hardware. Another small thing. They are mailing them to us. Like I said, the installation itself was good and it all looks fine. But the delays, aggravation, and an almost complete absence of customer service and communication from anyone in the company aside from delay notifications and constant communication with our salesperson is, to me, inexcusable. It would have been worth it to spend the extra $1200 to go with the other choice and probably avoid the aggravation we went through.
