He did a quick preliminary diagnosis and gave me a fair quote for the alternator parts and labor. A few hours later, instead of just doing the expensive repair, he called me and explained that the alternator was actually fine -- the real problem was a wire that was shorting out and causing the symptoms. The repair ended up costing significantly less than expected because they were honest enough to fix the actual issue instead of replacing parts I didn't need. I also had them change the fluids and filters while it was there. He said it looked like my spark plugs needed changing as well. Everything was completed quickly and professionally. It's hard to find shops that are this honest and transparent these days. Highly recommend Total Care Transmissions for their integrity, communication, and quality work.

Had a transmission rebuilt here about 3 years ago, i owned the van for 8 years at this point,and…read moretrans lasted 160k after the rebuild it never seemed to shift right into second gear, if throttling at a normal speed going up a hill it would shift into second at about 10 mph and the rpms would rise and fall with throttle position, and wouldnt really gain speed, would always have to manually shift it back to first until a higher speed, 20-30. Took videos of rpms and speeds sent to them. They scanned it and no codes. Test drove and they said it was fine. Well. It lasted about 50k And second gear started to shudder pretty bad. It also would shudder in reverse on steep inclines. Not sure if related. I get it. No codes = nothing wrong but then again when it went out last time there was no codes either, and it was barely drivable. I have owned this since new and am pretty aware of how my vehicles operate. Do majority of my own vehicle repairs since dealers and other mechanice seem to use parts cannons and not truly diagnosing. Got a new factory trans installed and now it feels like it used to, same hill starts easy throttle holds first until about 25-30, second is solid. Little to no rpm swings with throttle position except it goes better up hills now. 3 stars only because the trans lasted only 50k, under heavy use, original 160k. But this time i made sure they knew i wanted it to last another 150k and opted for new factory not rebuild. Cost way more this time but i feel it is right now. I do highly recommend them but i am upset it didnt last longer, either due to them or the rebuild shop.

Took my Jeep with A/T in with a serious problem. You can be driving on the highway in the hills,…read moreand when you put it in manual mode, it will intermittently double or triple down-shift when you move the shifter, intending for a single gear downshift. At highway speeds, downshifting from 5th into 2nd gear can blow up your engine. Jeeps don't like 8000 RPM. They had my car for the day, and couldn't reproduce the issue in the .5 miles they drove on my car, then he called me on the phone at 3 pm and tried to tell me I don't know how to shift the car I've owned for 10 years. I told them fine, I'll come get it. I get there 60 minutes later, an hour before they close, and the doors are locked. They left early. They knew I was coming. They could have called, but didn't. Said they had an emergency. That was a lie... they answered their phone after hours with no emergency in their voice. You could see them inside. Tge Open neon sign facing Iceanside blvd was still lit. They just wanted to mess with me. They had my number. They could have told me they "had an emergency". Instead... I spent $15 in an uber getting from work to their shop after they called me, and told me I could come pick it up. Then I had to spend $25 to uber home after finding that out. Then I had to uber back in the morning for another $25. This place should be razed. They are totally worthless. I can prove every bit of this review. It will not be taken down. I was referred to them by Accurate Alignment who is awesome. I am also letting them know they should re-think their recommendation.
