OVERALL: good workout but it's more like stretch Pilates…read more PROS: - small studio with I believe only 7 reformers = lots of individualized attention - if you're new to Pilates the individualized attention is great and adds to a safe and welcoming environment - clean - friendly staff - socks on pilates (they sell sticky socks) - great 3 class for $79(?) promo CONS - fills up quickly bc there are only 7 reformers - it's not as hard as solidcore. I did both beginner classes here and solidcore and found that while I got a little burn/soreness the day after, District Pilates felt more like a stretch Pilates class. Solidcore was harder and I really felt I was working my entire body - wish they had followed up after my 3 day promo was up Overall a good starting point and would recommend for starting out.

There are 7 reformers (yay small classes) with a chair and a ton of props to use throughout the workout. I've been to a few of the instructors and liked them all. The workout is challenging and you can really feel your legs, arms, glutes working in each posture. The studio has lovely and colorful art work and small seating area at the front. If you are looking for a good reformer workout I highly recommend this studio. Location: Conveniently located in Logan circle with plenty of street parking and many restaurants nearby to try after your class.

I love this location. Validated parking in DC is always a win. I really like the instructors who…read moreprovide hands-on corrections unless you prefer not to receive them, who will challenge you and motivate you. I've been complementing my gym workouts with solidcore and has been great for core strengthening but there are daily muscle focuses that are tough too. Membership isn't cheap but I've found having a not-so-committed membership (4x per month) in addition to classpass (for flexibility of either doing solidcore or something else) is a good pace for me. Edit: after reading some reviews, I wanted to say in the classes I've been to, there have been heightened attention from instructors to ensure people have correct form. If you don't, you may get injured. That's with any sport or workout. Also, if you're new, look around to see if you're doing it wrong. Hell, 50+ classes in and I still look around sometimes. Lastly, nearly all the exercises are slow movements. Unless the instructor explicitly says to go fast on army crawls or up downs, you aren't trying to break the record for most reps. Some classes, I've seen people breeze through. First, you're likely not getting a workout and second, you're increasing risk of injury.

I've been coming to Solidcore consistently for the past 7 months, and it's hands down the most…read moreeffective workout I've ever done. I've always been active and played sports growing up, but I struggled to find something that kept me motivated as an adult. Solidcore changed that. With no major lifestyle changes (I work a desk job, eat decently, commute mostly on foot/via transit and still drink most weeks), I've seen a huge transformation in my body. I am probably the most fit I have ever been. The coaches are great - Sam is the best, but you can't go wrong taking a class with Alethea, Sofia or Mary Kate. The vibe is always supportive but challenging, and I actually look forward to going. I also really appreciate how receptive the team is to feedback. On the rare occasion something's come up, they've been quick to address it and super responsive. No substantive complaints about the studio itself - especially considering it's one of Solidcore's lower membership tier locations. It's technically in NW DC, but it's billed at the Maryland tier, which makes it a way better deal than the other DC studios with more expensive memberships. The only thing I'll note is that this location doesn't have a live phone line, which can make it tough to get ahold of someone quickly if something comes up. Not enough to deduct a star, but I do wish they'd fix that. If I had one suggestion for the company overall, it would be to remove cancellation fees and shorten the cancellation window. Life happens, and a little more flexibility would go a long way for members. In short; If you're looking for a fun workout that will push you and actually deliver results, this is it. I even brought my 55+ year-old dad to a class and he loved it. Highly recommend.

Now, there is lots of turn over. Tonight, I thought I made a reservation but for some reason it didn't go through. Nevertheless, I showed up at class and the reformer was available so I proceeded to the class. The instructor was very rude and told me I could not attend the class until I spoke with someone at the main office (mind you, it was 7:15 pm and the office was closed). She treated me as if I was stealing the class, I explained to her that I've been going here for many years, showed her my remaining membership credits, and informed her that I texted the RTR number informing them I was at the class so my membership could be deducted. After about 10 minutes of waiting and lost class time, she walked up to me, asked me my name, and added me to the class. Why she chose to not do that to begin with was quite bizarre. It took 2 seconds. Over the years, I've learned to modify exercises to not exasperate my back. However, this instructor was so rude that loudly argued with me as I modified the exercise in a way I've done for years and I do every time the exercise is done. While this specific incident is the first of its kind, the care for customers has substantially declined and I'll sadly be taking my business elsewhere. We pay too much money for such low quality service.

I love the teachers (especially Ronnie and Aubrey!) and they offer a variety of yoga styles and levels so there is really something for everyone. They offer classes in real time via zoom and via their video library so if you miss a class, you can take it when it's uploaded to the library. They are opening up the studio so in-person classes will be available in addition to zoom. Looking forward to being back on the mat, in person when it's safe to do so!

I take full responsibility for what I am writing here. In brief, this business is dishonest and has fraudulent practices. Let me explain. They used my credit card to charge me for 2 additional months of membership that I did not authorize. A few months ago, WYC and Kiron, the business owner, sent out an email with a special offer membership that had (and I quote) "no contract". I signed up for one month, because I knew I was moving away from DC in the near future. 1.5 months later I noticed repeating charges from WYC appearing on my cc. I wrote them, politely asking them to address the issue. I got a 3 sentence reply from Megan stating "it appears to be a membership charge and it will end in 3 months, the minimum for the membership". I wrote back again, this time in detail explaining what has happened and quoting their own advertisement. To date, 1.5 months later, the business has not acknowledged the issue or responded to me (same email address, so I know they read it regularly). I've never had such experience before with another business. I was clear and professional in my correspondance. Today I finally called my cc; they will deal with the business directly about the fraudulent charges moving forward. I've had one other unprofessional experience with WYC during my 1 month of membership with them. It took WYC 1.5 months to refund me an accidental charge that I was told would be refunded, and it took great persistence and effort on my part (multiple visits to talk to someone in person, multiple phone calls with no one returning my calls). There are other yoga places in this city that are credible. Practice your consumers rights and support them instead! I will never do business with WYC again.
