I have profoundly benefited over the past 5 months taking pilates classes at Club Pilates in Lafayette. I am in my 50's and had lost my fitness from years of inactivity. After just a couple of classes I could tell I was benefiting from the workouts, my legs were stronger, my back no longer hurt and I was able to do things I hadn't done in years. I usually don't enjoy structured classes, preferring walks to working out with a group but I knew I needed to regain my fitness and health. From the beginning I felt comfortable at Club Pilates. It is located not too far from my Walnut Creek home, the space is clean and bright, the equipment is new and well cared for, and the instructors are knowledgeable and motivating, not to mention there is always easy parking available. I would recommend taking classes here to anyone (especially) in middle age that wants a welcoming and comfortable place to work out and get in shape. read more

After 3 years of not being a member they try to charge my card randomly for 3 yees of membership. I'd you call they don't answer. I've reported the "business". Today they attempted to charge my card 38 times for tuition and late fees for the last 3 years. I've tried to email and call. I'll be going down there to handle the owner in person and let the other members know about these predatory practices. read more

Club Pilates Lafayette - 38 charge attempts 3 years after canceling - Pilates Near Me - Lafayette, California

My daughters wanted to learn Pilates so I signed them up for this studio. This studio does not allow you to pay per class but forces you to become a member to take classes. There was NO individual class option. Unfortunately, school has started and we no longer have space in our schedule. I notified them, by email as requested by them, to cancel. But they will not cancel my membership. As you can see in the email below, they will charge me for another month, next month, a whole month after notification and keep my daughters memberships active for two more months when we cannot go to any more classes. The memberships are not cheap. So they will be taking my most recent payment and another $300 for what seems to be purely selfish, sneaky and unnecessary reasons. They claim to have sent me a disclosure of their practices over e-mail but they did not. They signed me up over the phone, claiming to need separate emails for both of my daughters. They sent my daughters the membership policies and never instructed me to read the membership cancellation policy before signing up. This place claims to have policies, "just like gym memberships" BUT they are not a full service gym. They offer a meager selection of classes. And are similar in operation to a yoga studio. These types of class based studios typically charge per class. This was not an option. read more

Club Pilates Lafayette - Email from business. - Pilates Near Me - Lafayette, California

I started Pilates in 2018 in the South Bay with a different studio. Club Pilates' practices are nearly identical - actually better than the other studio chain I originally signed up with. The classes and instructors are amazing! For me, it's worth every penny. I've found communication to be great, the contract is standard for what I'm used to with other studios, the app is so helpful for signing up for classes, canceling if needed, and reminding me when a class is coming up. The studio locations (Lafayette and Pleasant Hill) are so convenient! But, best of all, it's changed my life in terms of strength and balance. I'm so appreciative I found Club Pilates! read more

The worse customer service my mother and I have received from a boutique gym service is Club pilates. Jan continued to hang up the phone on us as we have repeatedly ask to terminate my mothers membership due to her health issues. She not only is irresponsible, but rude and very unprofessional. Keep in mind that we as a family are owners of small businesses and always strive to support other small businesses. But not when it comes to this sort of poor quality customer service. It does not seem as though the staff and the owner cares about a positive atmosphere, instead the focus is how they can rip off their customers. Never coming back here again. read more

My comments are about the owner, Jan, not the club. She owns both CP Lafayette and CP Pleasant Hill, where I was once a member. Beware everyone, especially "ASH" members. Six or so months ago, she erroneously charged me four no-show penalty fees. I pointed her to Section 11.11 of the agreement that we both signed, stating that "As a credit-based member" (a member who can take only a certain number of classes per month), I'll lose class credit for not showing up without giving notice. It does NOT state that I'll be charged a penalty fee, rather, it states that "Unlimited and All Access Members" will be charged. These same terms appeared in every email Club Pilates sent me to confirm a booking. Nowhere else in the agreement does it state that credit-based members will be charged a penalty fee. Jan acknowledged that I'm a credit-based member yet she refused to send me a refund of the fees. When I persisted, she asked, "then should we refund the $15 that the other ASH members have incurred in the past?" I replied "of course!" She was completely silent after that. Also, when I cancelled my membership - before the above occurred - I was blocked from removing my credit card information online, so I asked her to remove it. She said that she didn't have it and I believed her. Later, she used it to charge the above fees; what a dishonest and unethical business woman! I had to change my credit card and the bank reversed her charges. read more

RUN RUN RUN away from this studio.  And like many other previous reviews on here if I could rate negative stars for this place I would. I verbally told Jan the owner, within the cancellation period ( a month in advance) over phone and in person that I would not like to take classes for the months of November and December.  Yet despite my many requests she charges me for those two months.  When I confronted her about it she told me that she would offer studio credit.  I happened to lose the credit card on file so the card was cancelled.  When that happened Jan kept asking me for a new credit card on file.  I repeatedly told her I had two months of credit so I would give her updated credit card information when my studio credit was used up. Instead I got a call from the billing agency for a past due invoice for February, 2021.    I told the billing company I was confused because I had credit on file for two months.  After numerous attempts to contact Jan via phone and email I never got a straight answer from her.  Instead of trying to resolve these issues Jan gets the collection agency involved and cancels my membership. It is so unfortunate because I have been a customer of this studio for 2+ years and I love the location and classes.  However, due to the owner Jan and her trying to scam her customers I will never return and want to warn other customers.  I ultimately was billed erroneously for the month of 2/2021 and she terminated my membership and still owes me two months of credit. Do yourselves a favor and run far away from this establishment.  I will return to this studio in a heartbeat once Jan is gone! read more

WARNING- DO NOT JOIN!!! The business owner JAN S. will do everything to take your money. My neighbor warned me about this studio and how the owner will twist and turn all the rules in order to get your money especially when it comes to memberships and cancellation. Due to its convenient location to my home i decided to give it a try. The instructors of the studio are great, but during the shelter in the place order and studio shut down, Jan continued to charge membership fee- with no services rendered. Long story short, i tried to handle this issue with Jan but she's manipulative and kept threatening me with collection company and the billing department if I didn't continue to pay my membership despite having credits for the months i was charged. Despite trying to get a hold of Jan via phone and email, once she has your money, she's very hard to get a hold of. I should've definitely listened to my neighbor and ALL the NEGATIVE reviews on Yelp- stating the same concerns and issues... read more

I have only ever have given 5 star reviews on Yelp. This has been the only experience I have ever had to lead me to leaving a 1 star review. I have been a member of Club Pilates for well over a year with a passport membership. I have taken classes at over a dozen of their studios throughout the state, as well as in other states. I've also owned Pilates studios, and been taking Pilates classes for 25 years. The woman that owns this studio is unstable, extremely rude, and abrasive. The final straw was when I left two gold and diamond necklaces at the studio, they had gotten tangled when I was on the machine. I untangled them took them off and put them next to the reformer. I simply forgot I left them there. She called me yelling at me to come get my necklaces and that they will not take responsibility for them and she hung up on me. When I called the studio back to ask how late they would be there she started yelling at her front desk person and told her she shouldn't be talking to me and that she shouldn't have answered the phone. After both these situations I dropped everything I was doing rushed back to the studio to get my necklaces. The very nice young lady at the front desk handed them to me I was shocked to find my necklace's completely tangled. To the point that it appeared someone had intentionally done this. It took me 20 minute to untangle then. When I left them/forgot them they were completely untangled side by side. Club Pilates is a great company this studio is an abomination solely due to the owner. Here's what I was handed when I came back an hour after class to retrieve my untangled necklaces. read more

I love this studio and I don't understand the negative reviews. The studio is always clean and the workouts are wonderful. The core training has relieved my back pain and I no longer have to take pain pills. Jan and her staff are very nice and easy to work with. She offers a free introductory class so I strongly suggest you ignore the negative feedback, go to the class and make up your own mind. I have always had a great experience here. Although the class has up to 12 participants, Jan and the other experienced instructors will guide you and adjust the exercise for you if you come in with any pain (like a sore back, painful shoulder, etc). They are concerned for your health and a healthy workout. My health insurance helps pay for the fees but I would pay it in full if necessary because Club Pilates in Lafayette is convenient, clean, professional and most of all a safe exercise regimen. read more

Starting my 6th year here with an unlimited membership. I attend classes 4-5 times a week and it has helped my back immeasurably. The staff and teachers are knowledgeable and care about pain or injuries and will help you modify to accommodate. This is no more expensive than other studios and I appreciate the 12-person maximum for maximum attention. Classes are structured so that moving from beginner is a smooth transition. Love that the TRX is part of what is offered along with the reformer and the chair. Workouts vary according to the instructor - favs include Derrick, Jan, Tatiana, and Rosalyn. And also must mention that during the pandemic Jan and her sons moved reformers into the courtyard for sessions - cold BRRR and amazing. read more

I have tried for 2 days to get ahold of anyone at this location. No call backs or follow up, I saw online that they had nine open spots for a Saturday class I tried to purchase a single class online and it gave me several errors saying to try again later. I called the store four times today because it said they were open and I have been greeted with a voicemail every time. I'll take my business elsewhere thanks. Very disappointing. read more

I was excited to start club Pilates. Most of the teachers including especially Tatiana were very good. However the monthly cost is high. When i had a personal circumstance come up and needed to suspend and then cancel my membership it all became miserable. I ended up having to pay a full month beyond when I wanted to attend just to get out of the contract. There was no interest in working with me or pro- rating even with plenty of notice. This place is out to grab money not support health. I am glad to be done with them and encourage others that this is a place you have to read the fine print and can't expect common curtesy on the business end. Will not return even though that had been my original intention. read more

It's unfortunate that I need to write this review as the 1st two years I have been going there, it was a nice experience. I have attended pilates during covid as I truly enjoy the instructors there and also support local business during such hard times. Fast forward to February 2021, things have started to pick and I decided to update membership to 8 classes a month for $199 starting in March. By March 18th, I unfortunately got ill and needed to take time off from working out. I had to freeze my account with Club Pilates in order not to loose a membership. Since, I informed them a little over a week, I was charged for $199 for that month and was given a credit of 8 classes upon my return. During April and May, I was communicating with them via email that I will still be on freeze and hoping to return in June, but will need to change back to 4 classes a month for around $109. I was told that I will need to call to make the change back to 4 classes. Today, I called and the owner Jan, picked up. I informed her that I am trying to come back and would like to use the 8 class credit from March that I have. She informed me that without lifting the freeze, "the system" will not allow her, the owner, book classes; unless, I pay for individual classes. It seemed bazar to pay for additional classes, having 8 credit session; so, I agree to lift the freeze, and ask her to book a couple of sessions from my 8 credits to see how I feel as in the last two month, I have lost weight and need to slowly get back into it and that I do not want to charged for the month of May since I still have 8 credits left. At this point, she starts becoming extremely agitated, starts raising her voice and tell me to bring a doctors note stating that it's ok for me to do pilates. I ask her to show me where in the contract it states that i need to bring a doctors note, and she stars yelling from the top of her lungs, that she will not be putting up with crap from clients and that I should start my own business if I want to tell her how to run hers; and then hangs up on me. I canceled my membership immediately as I can't be around such nastiness and unprofessionalism; she was unstable on the phone, screaming like a lunatic, meanwhile, her studio pocketed $229 ($199 March, the cost of 8 session I never used + $15 April + $15May). Jan is an extremely unprofessional, mentally unstable, greedy woman and hundred miles away from being a respected businesswoman. read more

Loving learning new experience. Very core. Instructors are informative and helpful. Strength building.

Absolutely 1000% the best workout, fitness program and instructors be ever had. Having fibromyalgia and a connective tissue disorder, it's very difficult for me to find a workout program that doesn't kill my body. Club Pilates has changed my life. I got to 1-2 classes per day, most days of the week. My shoulder pain for surgery is so much better. My body is much happier. With my new routine, I've been able to reduce three of my medications. I can't believe the difference. Everyone...and I do mean everyone at club pilates is empathetic, kind, friendly and bends over backwards to make sure everyone is performing at their level. I would recommend Club Pilates slo to anyone looking to feel stronger, leaner and less pain. read more

I Called to the place to cancel my membership in October 2020. I send an email to whit the same request, however, nothing was done. I continue been in charge. Today I called again asking for cancellation and asking for a refund. The person who answered the phone said that she couldn't do anything and she will forward my email request to her boss. I was informed too that don't have a specific date for the cancellation. I am not obligated to continue paying for a service that I am not used and I don't want anymore. read more

As they say, there are two sides to every story. I was at the studio when Punah S , who wrote the other review today regarding Jan and Punah's diamond necklace. I checked in to take the 11:00 class. I saw Jan pick the necklace up from the floor. It was very tangled. Jan did NOT tangle it. Punah states that she is a Pilates instructor. A Pilates instructor would know better than to wear such a long, expensive looking necklace to a class. It can easily get caught on the reformer. Also, Jan was teaching our class when the phone conversation took place. That's why Jan couldn't talk to Punah. Jan was letting her know that the necklace was left behind, there was no secure place to keep it, and Punah should come back and get it. And lastly, Punah came barging in the studio and start yelling at Jan while our class was going on . Punah was very selfish and ruined the class for those us in the 11 to 12 class. Just had to hop on and tell my side of the story as a paying client who had my session ruined. I think Punah needs grow up and learn to be responsible for her belongings. read more

I have been a member at Club Pilates Lafayette for almost 3 years now. They are always helpful and accommodating. The instructors are knowledgeable and always ask about any possible need for modifications in case in case if injury. Kelisha at the front desk is always cheerful and helpful. I have only written a few Yelp reviews and they have all been positive. I believe in karma. This time I have to agree with Jenn. And it is with regret that I am posting my first unpleasant, but honest review, with the hope that this will save others from a similar headache. The studio is clean, centrally located and a great place to work out. Five stars for that. However, I am disappointed with their rigid approach to keeping clients tied up in a contract. I have been dealing with ongoing fall out from cancer treatment and it's been challenging to say the least. My communication about my health was clear and updates were offered as I payed for something for months that I could not use with the hope that I would rebound. You got to have hope. While I understand that there must be boundaries set for conducting business, there seems to be greater interest in revenue than in the health and well being of a client who has offered ongoing support for a local business. When I finally asked to dissolve my contract permanently, I discovered that I was required to pay for an additional month because I notified them one day late and that 29 days wasn't sufficient notice. "Being fair to all our members, we ensure that we follow our policies and procedures." Would this bother you if another member cancelled their membership one day short of the contract for a health related issue? If you want to enjoy what this studio has to offer, pay per class. Do not get yourself roped into a membership. read more

While the instructors are very nice, there are 10-12 students per class. It is my observation that not enough attention is paid to form. But more importantly read the contract and cancellation policy very closely. While it says there is a 30 day cancellation policy it is unclear because if the 30 days falls into a subsequent month you will owe for another month. Also watch for late fees. read more

I was passing through Lafayette and wanted to squeeze in a workout so I decided to try Club Pilates. I've done many reformer classes and love them. I arrived 8 minutes before class and waited at the unattended desk. About 2 minutes prior someone arrived and said someone else would have to try to sign me up. It took about 5 more minutes and they said I could not get a intro class and the cost was $29. The class was incredibly slow. I asked for more resistance and was told that this was more about mobility than strength. After 50 minutes I left without a sweat or feeling that my muscles had gotten any workout. The three other ladies in the class were older so perhaps it was tailored to them but in my experience it's up to the instructor to match all levels. It was a waste of time and money. read more

Best Pilates studio I have been too in the last 5 years. Very friendly staff, experienced instructors, and great location.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. First, they do not create a welcoming environment. Second, for the time I had my membership, they didn't offer a full compliment of classes, even though that's what they advertised as available when I signed up. Third, their class times and studio hours weren't great. Sooooo, I tried to cancel my membership. Somehow, didn't happen, so they sent me to collections. NOW, 7 months later, I get hit with 4 monthly studio charges plus late fees. AND now THE BEST PART... I called several times and texted. Apparently they record every call and voicemail. And YET, they can't find these calls that I made. How convenient. I will tell you, the owner was more than happy for me to post this review versus refund money for a membership I cancelled 7 months ago and clearly never used. Wonder why that is? Let's hope this place goes under before she scams anyone else. RUN, don't walk from this business. You can find MUCH better studios in this area. I know, because I DID! read more

Club Pilates has turned my wellness life around. I used to be very hit or miss on any kind of work out schedule, but I have had such a positive experience that I now do pilates at least 3 times a week because the studio, the instructors and the owner, Jan, have been wonderful. I also signed up my niece who has loved it also. As for contract changes, I have only experienced a very supportive response when I have had to make changes. The weekend classes can get booked up early so I would recommend that people organize their schedule as much as possible, but for the rest of the classes during the work week, I can usually find a class that fits my schedule even on short notice. I would recommend Club Pilates to anyone looking to make a personal commitment to well-being. read more

I visited Saturday afternoon for my first ever Pilates class, and it was designed for the over 50 crowd. I really enjoyed it! I really like this place. I am a member at Oakwood Athletic Club but I was not able to continue with their pilates reformer classes because I had ankle surgery and the classes were too challenging for me after that. You also have to pay extra for reformer at OAC, and the prices seemed high to me compared to stand alone places, especially since I am already paying a membership. In any case, I joined Club Pilates shortly after they opened because all of the classes at the time were level 1 and the instructors were very helpful with ensuring proper technique and modifying for my ankle issues. I have been attending regularly and have really strengthened my ankle (and everything else). I have been pleased with the variety of classes they offer (some cardio, some stretching, some regular, etc.) and with the instructors. They have gradually increased the number of classes and the levels, and I can now do higher levels. I could return to OAC for pilates now, but their classes are more expensive per class than this studio, so I am staying here. I am happy to support this franchise. It's tough to be a new business, and I know some have been annoyed by the contract, but they are bound by their franchise rules. You can absolutely pay by the class, so if you are more comfy doing that, you certainly can, and it's still cheaper or comparable to other studios in the area. The studio has 12 reformers, and most classes are not full, with the exception of peak times on weekends. I recommend it. read more
