We booked this beautiful property for two nights (Oct. 28 & 29, 2026). While the property is…read morebeautiful, we could not in good conscience recommend this place. Even though we had notified the owner, that we would be arriving closer to the 8 p.m. time, that someone would be at the property, we were given the cold shoulder upon our arrival 30 minutes before our estimated arrival time. Then on our first morning, having breakfast, we encountered another patron that informed us that she had been verbally assaulted and berated earlier in the morning and she was leaving. Her attempt to give the owner back the room key, resulted in him yelling at her to "Get the hell out!" When we finished breakfast, we attempted to say thank you as we left the breakfast area, only to have a kitchen door slammed in our faces. Having spent the day out and about, we arrived to see another couple checking in. We quickly decided on what we were eating and left for supper. To arrive back around 7:30 p.m. to another couple checking in. Again we witnessed the owner being very cold and acting in a bizarre behavior. The entire time we saw the owner, he was always walking around with a back pack on his back and pulling a suitcase with a cooler attached to the handle. Friday morning, we heard not one but two different encounters with each of the two couples we had seen check in. The owner was ranting at one of the women in the group, videotaping with his phone and demanding she get her things and that he would escort her off property. The owner than took it upon himself to chase after the 2nd couple and video taped them getting into their car, as he was yelling profanities and pointing at the couple. My wife witnessed all this behavior from the window of our room and took a video. We were ready to leave, as well, and thought it best not to push our luck for the breakfast that was part of the price. I went to grab a coffee, and the owner returned, yelling at my wife to get the "F" out. The owner was still videotaping having his flip phone right at eye level. The owner then saw that I was in the breakfast area, asked me what I was doing? Why was I rifling through his things in the kitchen, to which I replied I'm not in the kitchen I'm in the just getting a coffee from the machine in the dining room. I told my wife to leave and Adam started yelling more profanities and acting in a very aggressive manner to my wife. At this point, I told him that was enough. The owner said are you threatening me? I've got you on video. He chased after my wife, while I went to get my bags from the room. He followed my wife out the door, screaming more obscenities and claiming he had us "all" on video for threatening him. My wife responded that he better back off, because her lawyer would see that he no longer "owned" the place, as she would sue him for everything he had. The owner hesitated and stepped back. As we are retired and elderly, and from concern that I be able to get out of the building safely, my wife engaged with the 2nd couple and they were kind enough to wait in the parking lot, until I got our things in the car. They indicated they were abandoning the rest of their stay and booked another property; we had completed our 2 nights there and left for home.
The proprietor is clearly suffering from a mental health crisis of some sort. The more people he encountered that Friday morning, the more his behavior became irrational and unstable. His rantings about sinners and such, became more aggressive with each encounter. All of this lasted no more than 5 minutes. For him, we couldn't get out of the building fast enough.
In my opinion, from the experiences we and others witnessed in front of us other, I could not in good conscience recommend this property to anyone, for fear that it might not end well. I hope he gets/has gotten the assistance he needs.
If considering this beautiful property, I'd highly suggest you call and personally speak to the owner before booking. If things are right, or not, you will know instantly.
