We used to go here before they moved. It was a very humble building and they had a very friendly staff. We had Dr. Madsen and he treated all our pets like they were his kids. But they moved to a new 'lavish' location and BOY has it changed. Dr. Madsen left and the vet assistants/secrataries were all replaced with snotty girls who seem more interested in their cellphone than good customer service or empathy for people with pet problems. The staff is rude and cold. But what's worse is that there is just an entire atmosphere of "WE WANT MONEY WE WANT MORE MONEY WE WANT ALL YOUR MONEY!!!" That's all this place cares about now is money. Actually THE worst part is that they constantly recommend tons of unnecessary tests and surgeries (life threatening surgeries too) all because they'll rake in thousands of more dollars. I've always felt that my dogs got the best care here. Sometimes it's just the little things. One of my dogs unexpectedly passed away at home and I called the office to ask about cremation. They told me when I brought in my little guy to go around the back and somebody would meet me there to take him. This was so that I didn't have to wait in line as they know how emotional this can be. They handled everything for me to get him cremated and got a personalized sympathy card from all the staff. When I went in the next time with my other dogs, I was given my receipt with the reminders for vaccinations for each pet at the bottom, I saw they took my little guy off the list. This let me know that they took the time to update my chart so that they wouldn't accidentally ask me about him and bring on that hurt all over again. Again, it's the little things. read more

Went here one time to get my dogs nails and glands done. $36 later they come back with her tell me that they nipped all 18 of her little toes to bleeding point! Besides the fact that I told them that she has long Quicks. Then they suggest that she gets a laser nail treatment.. For That you have to sedate the dog to do so... First off my dog is 6lbs and I get her nails done every four weeks because they grow so fast so why the hell would I put her under every four weeks!! That's not even good for the dog she's so little! My wife and I took our beloved 3 year old chihuahua Dino to another Pet Hospital in the 'Sunnyside' area for two days prior to bringing him to CPH. The imbecile at SPH misdiagnosed him and was treating him for constipation. I knew something more was wrong so we took him to CPH and within 2 minutes of examining him, he was properly diagnosed and we were given the options of what to do with our dog in critical condition. Please, to any dog lover with the means, there is only one option. Thanks to the folks at Clovis Pet Hospital we've had our Dino home and healthy for over a year. He had a paw in the grave and you guys brought him back. Thank you all! BTW...rat/mouse poison is nasty stuff. Dino got into it somewhere in our neck of the woods. read more

I LOVE Clovis Pet Hospital. The staff is helpful and nice. The vets are personable and caring toward my animals. They are very good with surgeries, teeth cleanings, and check ups. I feel very comfortable when my pets are in their care. When I have emergencies, they are able to see my pets right away and give them amazing care. read more

I have always taken my dogs here. My dog had surgery by Dr fenster when she was a pup. Actually he has done surgery on 2 of my dogs...i trust him as a surgeon. I am disappointed by their lack of communication on my last visit. I saw the Dr for 2 seconds...a woman vet, took my dog back to check for UTI. I never saw the vet afterwards. She was supposed to call me with results...i called them. Never talked to doctor again, just assistant. It was very expensive for the lack of communication by the vet....i expect more for what I am paying. I have been a loyal customer for years, but now am considering going elsewhere. The doctor should take the time to talk with the pet owner on the situation and not pass it off to the secretary...or assistant. read more

I've had several wonderful experiences at Clovis Pet Hospital. Not only are the staff friendly and compassionate, but they are HONEST, which (sadly) shocked me in today's world. I just moved to the Clovis area and have had several experiences in other cities of vets telling me something catastrophic was wrong with my dog, only to learn it was something minor. I've been told to have pimples biopsied for cancer, among many other ridiculous things. So when my dog woke up one morning (in Clovis) unable to lift her head and struggling to walk, I prepared for the worst. I was ready to be told that her spine was damaged and needed surgical repair, or that x-rays and blood work were necessary. But they didn't even go there. They didn't even let ME go there. They gave me an inexpensive muscle relaxer and sent us home, and she was better in a few days. They even called and checked in on her. And you know what, every time I go back, they remember us (or at least pretend to, lol!), which I've never experienced before. I don't feel like a number or a dollar sign at this vet, which I genuinely feel is rare. I would recommend this vet to anyone! read more

They used to have really good service, but since they moved, it seems like a lot has changed. The last time I went in for an exam it was very rushed and they didn't diagnose my pet's problem. I ended up having to take him somewhere else. I had gone to their old facility several times and overall had a good experience. During one of my exams, Dr. Fenster came in the room and told the doctor that was waiting on us that he was taking too long. I didn't really like that. I don't plan on coming back to this pet hospital because it feels like the customer service is lacking and I'm not getting what I'm paying for as far as getting a thorough exam. read more

The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. We went through 3 days trying to have teeth pulled for our Yorkie and it never happened. I now go to Abby Pet on Ashlan in Fresno. They gave me a card for a 7:30 appointment and then left a message on my phone to drop our dog off anytime after 7:30. So we chose 9:00. When we did this they said oh you had a consult at 8:15. So we couldn't get her teeth pulled. So they gave us another appointment and we arrived at the correct time only to be told we thought we saw you for a consult but we see on our records we did not. You need to wait until a dr is available. We then left her on the next day only to be called at the end of the day saying we didn't get around to pulling her teeth because we had to do surgery on another dog so can the Yorkie stay all night for surgery the next morning. At first I said yes until I found out she didn't have her bed to sleep in. We were told by two people she could have anything she needed to be comfortable but when my husband took her in they refused to keep her bed. Not happy at all !!!!! I took my small dog in to get a Bordetella booster at 4:40. Even though they don't close until 5:30, they said they were no longer doing procedures after 4:30. We didn't need emergency surgery, just a 10 second Bortetella mist. So we left !!! We'll give our money and our business to someone else. Thanks anyway !!!!! read more

Dr Fenster saved our dog's life....including operating on a Sunday and taking her to his home that night to care for her every 2 hours. They had hope even when we didn't. Went here because our puppy had bladder infection symptoms. Facility and staff were great but I was shocked when Dr Fenster took my puppy in the back room for exam because she was wiggly. It was one of those ' I wish I had it to do over again' moments. No way would I do that. She's just working on socialization and so instead of working on her in an environment that might be a *little* more difficult you opt to pull her back behind closed doors. I've been taking all my dogs and cats to Clovis Pet Hospital for 6 years. The staff is friendly and efficient. The techs are awesome with my outgoing dogs and gentle with my scared cats. Dr Fenster always takes the time to explain and answer any questions as well and discuss treatment options should I bring a different perspective. Dr Madsen has treated all of my cats for everything ranging from vaccines to major illness and his compassion has helped me with some very difficult decisions. Dr Flores is awesome technically as well as making my dogs and cats feel like they are the most special thing EVER every visit. read more

I called and inquired about a dental cleaning for my 9 year old yorkie, Ruby. I was quoted $200. I made an appointment and took her in the next day. It was explained to me that it would be $20-$50 for extractions if that was needed. When I went to pick up my dog that afternoon the bill was $600!!!!!!! I was so shocked and upset. They said the vet was too busy to speak to me and held my dog until I paid. I am still so upset that they are able to gouge a pet owner for trying to take good care of their pet. They were good when they were at their old location...now that they moved, the service got shoddy. It's hard to get an appointment and the doctors are very rushy. The girls working there were rude and rough and scared my dog so much that he started urinating everywhere. I don't plan on coming back here. Family Veterinary Hospital is much much much much worse though...so I would rather go to Clovis Pet before I went to Family Veterinary Hospital. read more

The doctors are extremely rushed. Last time I was there the doctor spent less than 1 minute in the room with me, didn't answer my questions, didn't know what was wrong with my dog, and walked out. I had to pay an office visit, got no diagnosis, no meds, nothing. The staff scared my dog so much that he started urinating all over the office. The staff was rough with my dog. I had an awful experience with Clovis Pet Hospital and not only will be warning other potential customers of their practice, but filing a formal complaint to the Veterinary Medical Board. We took our 10 year old dog in for a visit because he had developed a laceration on his face that he kept scratching and it just got worse. We took him to Clovis Pet Hospital and they informed us that his teeth were causing the pain, swelling and pawing of his face. We had them "extract" the problematic teeth and followed up with antibiotics. When I went to pick my dog up they took an unacceptable amount of time to get my dog since they didn't seem to be doing anything. I think I waited for approximately 45 minutes. When I finally got someone to help me they explained the procedure and findings on a post it note with a sketch looking like a preschooler. Fast forward a few months and our dog still had his open wound, that had drastically worsened and now had puss in his eye as well. Not being keen of our experience at Clovis Pet Hospital or the very high price, we opted for Waterhouse Animal Hospital (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). They said they had bad news, that he had 2 bad teeth that weren't even addressed during his prior surgery and so our dog had to have the same surgery. Also, since his face had not healed, that told them that he still had the initial problem, but wouldn't know until they put him under for sure. After his 2nd surgery in half a year, for THE SAME PROBLEM, they discovered that his root of his tooth was never extracted, feeling to my dog like a splinter in his cheek all this time. I asked the Vet at Waterhouse if this should have been missed the first time. She looked at me, appalled, and said "No Way." IN ADDITION to the tooth root still in his jaw, there was ANOTHER tooth that Clovis Pet Hospital had documented as fractured in their initial report, but never contacted me about or did any treatment for! All in all, the 2nd surgery to re-do what we paid for to be done the 1st time, Waterhouse removed 3 teeth AND the root. Waterhouse took before, during and after photos as well as 2 x-ray sets. They went over their findings in detail (not on a post it note sketch) and even gave me the large, extracted tooth that was the problem that Clovis Pet Hospital left in his mouth and never even removed. Waterhouse gave me a full 4 page report as well and apologized for our horrible experience and malpractice. read more
