Takes forever for the dishes to come. Salty and really small portion for a not cheap price. Not recommend

"...NO COMPLAINTS WITH TAKE-AWAY DELIVERED ~ NO HESITATION IN RINGING AGAIN..."…read more We had dinner in an Indian restaurant, last night - enjoyed it so much, wanted Indian cuisine again, for lunch today.. Looked online, for a place with both decent reviews, and who was willing to deliver at lunchtime.. DAAWAT Indian Restaurant, Victoria Street, Richmond, exceeded those expectations. We ordered: 1 x Butter Chicken [always intend to try something new, but can't help myself..] 1 x Chicken Tikka Masala [same here..] 1 x Karahi Chicken [this was new..?] 3 x Steamed Basmati Rice Loved the flavour in the butter chicken, and the tikka masala, but thought the karahi needed salt.. Still, it was all scrumptious - lots of big tender chicken chunks in distinct rich thick spicy gravies. The basmati was fluffy, beautifully cooked, but also lacked a little salt.. I thought so, anyway.. The kids said it was all fab, it might just be my palate 'gone a bit dodgy' today..!! #Anyway, the guy said he'd be here at 2.30pm, and he was.. #Food was still really hot.. #The containers were seriously chocablock..!! Like, all double serves.. enough for 6, at least, too much for 3.. especially as it was for lunch.. [Hey, did I just say that..? Yeah, I did..] Cost: Chicken dishes - $14 each, Rice - $4 each [Total $54 plus $2.50 delivery charge] Pretty good value considering quality and quantity of food delivered.. Will order again, but, also, really looking forward to eating in.. Ordered Friday 18 March 2016 for take-away lunch.

After eventually finding a park on this stretch of a busy road, we went inside, sat down and began…read moreto peruse the extensive menu that does offer a few different things than you'd normally find on a typical menu at an Indian restaurant. It is a shame, however, that the staff don't know what the items are, because when bringing out entrees, they gave the wrong items to the wrong people as a result, and they missed out on trying what they wanted (which could be problematic if you have an allergy or something). My samosas (which were SO GOOD) came out first and only after some questioning, the other items came out, but by that time I was done with them, because the wait was quite extensive. In spite of those hiccups, everyone loved their food. The mains were good. The food came out all at once this time, which was great, but there needed to be some juggling as the table sizes are small. The kitchen accomodated the few requests we had which was nice, and everything was delicious (except we just could not taste the garlic on the naan or see the chives, which makes me think they gave us plain naan instead). Basically, other than a few glitches with staff not being spot on that night, the food was great and the atmosphere was nice (along with nice, modern decor) and definitely worth trying again. Parking can be tricky, and so it might be best coming for an early sitting. Would I come back again? Yeah, if I'm in the area, for sure.

Four of us went on a Saturday evening and it was vibrant and buzzing - having received a positive write up in the Herald Sun the previous week. The food was delicious (with most items being gluten free) and prices reasonable. Dishes were from various regions of India and some of the dishes included: Awadhi Lamb- Macedon lambroasted with spices and marsala Goan duck leg - - with a pumpkin cinammon sauce and lychee Prawns varuval - drenched in cocnut yoghurt with cumin fennel and cury leaes Matar ki Tikka - garlic infused peas and broccoli croquettes Butter chicken! with tomato fenugreek and cardomom Naan was great as well. Unusually we had desert that was also very nice: Gulab Jamun - indian donuts soaked in honey and saffron Wine list was also reasonably priced with a self serve beer fridge (there's a dangerous idea).
