My first impression was good - the shop was pleasant - clean and organized, and Mike, the owner, was very businesslike yet personable. He gave me a written quote which I thought was a fair price, we agreed to the time-line and I delivered the fabric and the first two chairs the next morning. I returned to La Porte 3 weeks later and the first 2 chairs were finished as promised. Over the course of the next few days he delivered the remaining five chairs, somewhat earlier than expected as he was working overtime to accommodate my travel schedule. Unfortunately, my experience here was just not good. Several months ago, I burned up the motor in my Kitchen Aid mixer trying to mix too much bread dough at once. It limped along for a while, but it soon became clear it needed help. This is a prized possession - I use it all the time, and it has a lot of sentimental value. I found Erv's listed online as a certified Kitchen Aid repair center, and they had great reviews. I live a few hours away, so I called ahead to see if I could drop it off while in the area and pick up later, or have it shipped if I had to leave town before the repair was finished. I was told this was possible. I did end up leaving town and was told it would be shipped ASAP. It took several weeks and several follow-up phone calls from me, but I did eventually get my mixer back in the mail. Unfortunately, the bowl and three attachments I had left with the mixer were not returned to me, so it was still unusable. It again took several phone calls, but the bowl and two attachments were returned to me. Still missing the third attachment. Several more phone calls to get the third attachment. It finally arrived. Clearly not the attachment that goes with my machine, but, at this point, I decided to go with it and just move on. Just tried to use the mixer tonight for the first time. The mismatched attachment is the wrong size and does not work with my mixer. I guess I will buy a new one. All together, I could have spent much less money to get an all new mixer. I never once got a return call from leaving a message on their answering machine. I always had to call, catch someone in the store, re-explain the whole saga, and wait for them to look up the record. I was determined to remain friendly despite my frustration, and everyone working here was always polite. But several months and a chunk of change later, I still cannot use the appliance I brought for repair. I imagine this may be different for folks who live near by, but I cannot recommend this business to would-be out-of-town customers.

I had a jet tub contractor tell me he could fix the pump but he would need to find a contractor who could try to remove my tiles to create an entry point. If one tile was broken I would be faced with a retile of my entire bathroom because my tile is old and likely not found in stores anymore. That same tile covered my floors, surrounding bath and some walls. I had been searching for a contractor for over a month and a half, and everyone I contacted told me it would be impossible to fix without breaking the tile. That all changed when I contacted John. He was able to intricately remove each tile without breaking a single one, remove the drywall behind the tub, replace the pump, and then reinstall the existing tiles perfectly. His precision and attention to detail were truly impressive, and the finished product looks like nothing ever happened. He did the job that I would have had to pay two separate companies to do! Contractor to remove tiles and another to fix my jet tub pump. John's expertise, professionalism, and problem-solving skills are second to none.
