I brought several boxes of clothing, shoes and purses in from my mom. The lady at the front desk was so very nice. Looked through everything and let me know some of the stuff was off season and to come back with it. She was helpful and explained everything to me. I also purchased several pieces. First time visiting this store today. I was pleasantly surprised! I had two very nice women help me. I only brought around 10 designer items with tags just to get a feel for what they would take before brining in a whole mess of stuff. They were polite and quick, went through everything while i waited (about 15 minutes). I could have left too as they text you when your they are finished, which is convenient! They ended up taking all but 2 items and the offer seemed fair for just a couple things. Obviously, dont plan to make a ton..I personally just want to purge the closets! I will definitely be back with more things soon! read more

I love going to this particular Clothes Mentor! It's a very clean store, it even smells good :) the staff here keep their items very well placed and visually appealing. All CM stores are NOT created equal. Coon Rapids is the exception because of the staff. Truly nice and helpful women work here. Jenny and Heather the managers are sweethearts. You can always tell a well managed staff that get along well and respect their boss such as this location, from other stores who don't have the same great atmosphere. I am not following these reviews! I walk in the store and am greeted almost immediately and always told about the sales! If there's a spot on something, then, I would not want to buy it and pay to remove the spot. This is a business, there's no margin, if they were to buy close to what you paid retail and then sold it to me for close to retail. I have brought things in to other CM locations and have heard same or similar; however, they were right and so off to the Goodwill I went with the items that were out of season. I am happy to learn of such scrutinizing purchasing as I come to that store for next to new items, yet, I am not into new retail. I could never work retail; however, I am sure happy there are people who can. An item having tags on it and being that season sends up a huge red flag to me. If it's that new, take your receipt and return it to the store for a full refund and leave Clothes Mentor out of the equation. If it is an 'acquired' item and you are unable to return it to the store, do not blame Clothes Mentor for not buying your items. If 'there' is a tiny dot on the shirt, then - I am glad it was not purchased as no one wants to buy a stained shirt, tiny spot or whatever. I do not want to see a larger selection of tiny dot spot items... Not everyone has to give someone an 'explanation' - not wanting to buy the items without a detailed explanation is better customer service, as I am sure no one wants to go through and point out everything. I have been shopping Clothes Mentor for years and am happy about the larger Coon Rapids location. In fact, I was just in there yesterday and bought the most outrageous leather coat and I cannot wait until it gets cooler out so that I can wear it! read more

To be clear, I had a positive experience the first time I went here with the exception of a pair of sweatpants that I bought that smell funny even after washing them multiple time but I chalked that up to being my own fault for not sniffing before I bought them. After the second, I will NEVER go back. I went to the store with 5 items to sell: some shoes (one pair new with tags one pair worn once) a pair of lululemon 3/4 length pants I wore 3 times and paid $110+ for a hat and a jacket. I only brought a few items as I've never sold clothes at this location before and wanted to get an idea of how much they would give me before I brought the rest of the thing I had to sell. The jacket and hat couldn't be sold as they were out of season, fine. The two pairs of new shoes and pair of leggings they were going to give me $20 for altogether. Rather than explaining the prices to me the girl who rang everything up who was new (also understandable) handed me the money and started to ring up the items I was purchasing. I stopped her and asked her if she could explain how much I was getting for the items. On my previous trip to this store, I was told that lululemon was paid at 1/2 of the sale price however I was actually given $7 dollars for the pants they were pricing at $25. I told the girl who rang them up that I didn't want to sell them for so little as I know I can get significantly more even if I sell them on Ebay (which I've done a lot in the past, I was just trying to save myself some time). The other girl came over and said they normally can't refund me after it's been cashed out but the girl who rang everything up admitted she hadn't explained the prices to me before paying them out and as such they would do it "this time" BUT it would take "a long time" when I asked how long that would be she said another "7-10" minutes. After approximately 1 minute she completed the refund and set my money on the counter and walked away. I finished paying for my items and the other girl put them in the bag and just before I was about to walk away checked my bag only to see that after taking the money back, the other girl had kept my pants and I had to ask for them back (eye roll). Overall, I felt disrespected, annoyed and cheated and will NEVER shop at or sell clothes at this particular clothes mentor again. PS I love the woodbury store and even though it's about a 1/2+ drive for me vs a 10 minute drive, I would happily go there to give them my business. read more

It is very clean and bright in here. I also think it's pretty organized. The lady who helped me was so kind. I got a fair offer for my items they wanted. She told me they are overloaded with inventory because of COVID, but she was nice enough to tell me exactly what they were buying so that I could bring back any other items I had that fit those categories. Overall good experience. Compared to Plato's closet, CM has much nicer brands. read more

Like others said I lugged 5 big bags in that were paper as instructed. Everything washed, brand name, some with tags, and all current styles. They wanted only 5 items and to give $26 which is less than I paid for one item. I said no and took all my things back. Funny thing their store is full of ugly stuff. Horrible Customer Service! This is a factual honest review that I tried to leave on their facebook, but they deleted it because they just delete the bad reviews, only leave the good ones. Check, most comments are "Hidden". Then they blocked me from commenting. My review: I called one day to ask how it works to sell, if I need an appt etc. because I would have a lot of stuff. They gave me the info. I sorted all day long checking items over, taking ironed clothes OFF hangers as instructed, then neatly folding into bags, making sure most were brands listed on their website. I brought in 3 huge shopping bags, 100+ items, all nice new or like new good brands. It took a long time and I lugged in 3 huge bags. I went back about 2 hours later to pick up and I didn't expect they would take it all, I know these places have to be choosy, but they said they could only take 2 items for $6! Sensing my dissatisfaction, they said " Well we're really not buying now, only designer handbags". I said well you could have told me that on the phone when I called." Then when I got home, I noticed they had just THROWN all my items back into the bags like dirty laundry so everything got extremely wrinkled! So I went to their facebook to leave feedback of MY experience with them and saw they had just posted a video saying "Clean out your closet, we're buying!" So I was extremely upset then. I went thru all that work for nothing because "We're not buying" Yet they post this video? Then NOW I have more work because I have to refold and iron lots of my items that I brought to them folded and un-wrinkled. I have never been treated so horribly in my life by a store that should WANT lots of business! At 1st they deleted my review on facebook w/o any response at all. When I commented again and called them out on that, then they did respond, but wanted my name & # (I don't have my last name on facebook for privacy reasons). I told them that I didn't feel comfortable giving that on a public post and also for fear of some kind of retaliation. I explained this was not about calling out 1 employee or getting anyone in trouble, that ALL staff should be trained not to just "throw" items back in bags when it was brought in neatly folded. I mean c'mon they wouldn't want anyone to bring items in all "thrown" in a bag....And NOT to advertise that you're BUYING if you're not and tell people if they call ahead that so they don't go to all this work for nothing. Plus, I had still hoped to shop there w/o bad vibes. (I've never had any trouble shopping there). But then they just simply deleted all my comments, blocked me and NO response whatsoever! No apology for wrinkling all my items or for the wasted day bringing stuff in there to "sell" and being told "were not buying now" This was my 1st time bringing stuff in to sell there and NEVER again! I would stay clear of this place! In comparison, after refolding/Ironing everything and at a friends suggestion, I took to a different store (NOT a CM) and I'm so glad I did. They took about 60% of my items and I made over $180!!! So it wasn't that my items were unacceptable. But the experience at Clothes Mentor Coon Rapids sure was! read more
