My fiance' had a watch that fell off the top of a coat tree onto a hard wood floor and one of the links broke and bent to the point where we couldn't repair it by ourselves. I took the watch back to JCPenney where we had purchased it from and they advised us that they'd have to send the watch in and it would be $40 to $50 and take several weeks. They suggested that I take it to a jewelry store. I took it to a store in the LaCrosse Mall and the young lady working told me that she always recommended, "Clocks off Main", to people who needed watches fixed. I drove straight to the place she referred me to and was promptly assisted by the owner, Joe, who was able to fix the watch in less than 5 minutes and only charged me $10. I needed a new battery in my cheap, but overcomplicatedly designed, watch. Other shops were unable to do so and referred me to Clocks Off Main. He skillfully did the work right in front of me in just a few short minutes for a very reasonable charge. I am grateful, as I did not want to replace the entire watch. It has all the functions I need for my work and I've worn it through a lot. When the watch battery dies again in another three years, I'll return to Clocks Off Main. read more

I purchased a cuckoo clock from an estate sale. It needed to have some work done on it so I went to Clocks on Main. The gentleman that took care of me was completely upfront with me. I had purchased an older clock and he didn't know what shape it was going to be in. He told me to give them a couple days and call them back to see if it was worth fixing.Once he had a chance to look at it he let me know that it did have some wear but I should be able to get some more years out of it. He ordered up the parts and is going to be shipping it back to Canada for me once it is complete. I am very impressed with his service. read more

I needed to have the band on a new watch resized and so stopped by on a Friday morning. Joe did it right on the spot for a very reasonable cost, was friendly and courteous, and told me to come back if I needed an additional adjustment. By midday I realized I likely needed to have an additional link removed from the band as it was a bit loose so stopped back in. Joe made the adjustment quickly, the fit was perfect and I was on my way. Great service, and a great space that looks exactly like where you'd expect to find an old school clock artisan plying his trade. read more

Nice guy, but..... I took my Nixon watch in because my pin was missing a screw and it seemed to be a screw that could not be found in any store. So, he tells me he can order a screw for me no problem. OK great! I drop it off May 23rd. He will call me when it is done. I call back June 4th because I have not heard anything.. He tells me all the screws he has ordered are not fitting so he is going to try one last screw and get back to me. OK great! I do not hear anything back so I call him on June 19TH! I ask him if my watch is done and he says yes be he had to replace the entire pin. I say OK and I will come down to pick it up. I get there and the pin is nothing like the one I originally had in my Nixon watch. The one that was originally in my watch was nice an hidden. The new pin that he put in sticks out with round balls on both sides of my watch! It is beyond tacky. But was going to look past it because I could finally wear my watch again. I then go to put it on and strap the band down with the extra little piece that is there to hold the slack and it is gone. I say "uh oh, this piece is missing. Do you have it in the envelope (where he was keeping my watch) He looks at me and says "oh nope. it never came in with one. I saw that it was missing and knew some people did not like them and would take them off. I assumed that's what you did." I said "No, it defiantly came in here with it on because it never would have come off with the watch clasp still on. It must have fallen on when you removed the whole piece to put on a new pin." He continued to say "no, I don't think I ever saw it." Then offers to take me over to the shoe repair store and get a piece of black leather glued on my watch to hold the strap in place. At this point I was pissed. I walked over there to give it a shot but I am livid with how tacky my $200 watch now looks with an over sized pin and black leather strap on a green band. I then called Nixon and luckily they are sending me a new piece. What a headache. read more
