IMHO the best Jamaican food in south Florida! It's a hip stretch of Little Haiti in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. During coronavirus we went to the walk-up window (inside wasn't open because of CV19). The lady (Safronia, I think?) at the window was a hoot: she looked at Doc C in his medical get-up and me in my business casual, smiled and said "I'll bet you boys are lookin' at real estate here"...LOL, no I just like jerk chicken. This place is very cool and absolutely authentic Jah-Make-Ah mon. A Jamaican-American work colleague of my partner's knows I really like Jamaican food, so strongly suggested this place. The outside has a very cool paint job and there's a free parking lot. It's very easy to spot and park. You can also just look for the sizable line of Jamaican folks at the window, along with the Cuban doctor guy plus the business casual guy that looks like Mr Rogers. Doc C is mostly a vegetarian--which seems a shame with their amazing jerk chicken and beef patties--but they made him curried vegetables which were terrific even meat-free. My jerk chicken was mouth-watering. Even homemade at Jamaican friends' houses, it has never been this good...drive miles out of your way if you have to, just to taste this. We were out and about for a good while the rest of the afternoon so I also got some Jamaican beef patties and heated them up in a 7-11's microwave later...even reheated they were terrific too! One good thing to know: about 50 feet north there's a Panther Coffee with outside tables. I decided to stop by class to get some dinner for this evening I usually get the curry goat rice and peas and steamed cabbage tonight I decided to get the jerk chicken I should have stuck to the original curry goat. Unfortunately, the jerk chicken lacked authentic jerk taste. The jerk sauce that they gave me is actually barbecue sauce with some spice in it, not jerk sauce The amount of food was sufficient but because it did not taste like Jamaican jerk, the amount doesn't matter. The person taking my order was friendly and nice. My receipt says that I paid at 7:12. I left there at 8:14 when I got my food. There were several people waiting for their food for a long time, and the line was also long for people to order food. Unfortunately, I think she was a bit overwhelmed. I'm not sure what was going on, what was the holdup, or why it took so long. After having bad Jerk Chicken at a place in N.M.B., my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to take a leap of faith. Talk about taking the first step and not seeing the staircase. On my first trip, I ordered Oxtails and Jerk Chicken; It was absolutely divine! The Oxtails were tender; perfectly and complexly seasoned. On another trip to Clives, I had the Whole Fried Fish! It was perfect in every way. Seasoned with all the island spices that you expect an friend to perfection, not overcooked just simply friend perfection. Now, I've been eating Goat since I was a kid (no pun intended). This Goat was slow cooked in a delicious Curry Sauce. I think I've run through the menu many times. And everything is just wonderful. The place has a lot of room and I saw a stage so I wonder if they have live music on certain days-- probably pre-COVID. I had a large goat soup and it was pretty flavorful. Came here one day at the recommendation of a family member that is also a foodie. The food is authentic Jamaican food and it was hot and fresh. The environment was nice with the music playing and the waitresses were very friendly which you don't always get at Caribbean restaurants lol. Great service here! We dined in, ordered and was served all very promptly. The menu really needed no introduction as I eat Jamaican food in NY quite frequently. All the favorites were on the menu curry, jerk, and stewed. We started with a beef patty which wasn't my favorite but my bf really enjoyed. I would have liked more bits of the ground meat. The meals however made up for it. Tender flaky fish, stewed down in the brown sauce which was rich and slightly sweet. Tender jerk chicken with a nice charred grilled taste. And the sides! Really tasted like my granny made them. Perfect consistency on the mac salad- not too watery, a but tangy flavor. Potato salad was thick yet light and fluffy. I am very disappointed in seasoning, portion, temperature and presentation as of late. Today we ordered fried conch and stew conch. Fried conch excessive breading, conch was minced so small all you takes is fried breading. Would Not recommend to anyone. I am an avid conch eater and know great Caribbean cuisine. Native of south florida who frequents the Islands. The stew Conch was loaded with onion, bell pepper and gravy but the conch was missing. Once inside, it's a decent size establishment with a side to sit inside and eat and a side specifically for take out orders. Our food was a bit slow coming out but we did have a larger party. Comfort food! We went to a HH elsewhere and the portions were so small that ended up here for our Jamaican craving and to have a satisfying dinner meal. We wanted to have a Jamaican patty which is their version of an empanada and it was filled with curry chicken and on point. Then we shared the curry goat which has a slight kick to it.
