I was hosting family for Memorial Day weekend and wanted it to be special. I asked for six filet mignon cuts around 8-10 ounces. The gentlemen assisting was super friendly and took the time to ensure each cut met the specifications. He asked if I would like the filets seasoned. I had one visitor allergic to garlic, so he worked on five and another gentleman separated the other and provided a special seasoning without garlic. They made sure the items were separated and wrapped without question. Fast forward, I placed these bad boys on the grill and took them off at a temp of 145 degrees. I allowed them to finish cooking on the plate and had perfect medium filets to serve the guests. My mother-in-law went on and on for days into weeks claiming it's the best steak she's ever had (and she is very bouchée). Thank you, New York Butcher Shoppe.... You now have a frequent flyer for all my grilling needs .... And looking forward to trying the prime rib soon!

First off, I love the layout of their salesfloor, everything is situated so that there's ample room to meander and scope out the goods and offerings. They have it ALL, and I mean everything you can think of. The variety of meats is something to behold, and it's easy to see that quality comes first. Tasty kabobs, steaks, briskets, wings, sausages, sides, you name it, they've got you covered. There's also a vast array of sauces, seasonings, local beers, Florida chips and snacks to put on a party fit for any grill enthusiast. I grabbed 2 containers of "Smash Taters" (take-n-bakes are buy 1, get 1 on Tues and Wed), a half-pound of the Korean Bulgogi Steak Tips, and a Bacon Cheddar Burger Patty to cook up for dinner tonight. Southern Steer Butcher will no doubt find success here in Jacksonville, and if you haven't stopped in to see them yet, then you definitely should.
