However once we reached the top, there was no need to worry. What a lovely space this was to have an event. There was a reception area for drinks prior to the ceremony. The room was set up nicely with a combination of standing cocktail tables and seating to sit down in. The bar area was set up nicely and was well organized. I was so surprised to see the outdoor space next to the room where the ceremony was held. The room itself was beautiful, but seeing the outdoor greenery made it all the more magical. After the ceremony everyone retired back to the reception area for drinks. I kept trying to figure out where dinner was going to be served. While having drinks, the staff kept walking around with these amazing hors d'oeuvres! I had so many that I almost did not want to have dinner, they were that good. Well color me surprised as the same room we were in for the ceremony was transformed into a dining area, with a second room next to it set up for a band and dancing. The set up for dinner was nice and the food was actually pretty good, I mean clean your plate good. The staff did an excellent job of serving without getting in the way of things. And the speed at which they transformed the room was pretty quick. I am usually not much for wedding events but we had a great time here, in part to the lovely couple, but the venue had a big part to play in it. If I had known about this place and COVID had not been a thing, we could have had The Doctor's 60th here.

The weather was beautiful and all the included amenities were great. We loved that we could customize the venue to exactly what we wanted and make it truly ours for the night. Also, the graphic designer Brian was so quick to turn everything around given the tight window we had and made everything match perfectly. Also, the process of choosing a DJ was great. They matched us with our Dj Mando and he made the night so unforgettable to where our guests couldn't stop raving about the music. It's absolutely massive so I'd recommend for a large party, although it looks like you can divide it into a smaller space if necessary too. This space was beautifully decorated for this particular bar mitzvah and do think very high centerpieces are best due to the high ceilings. It was february so everything was done inside, although they did connect a heated tent for the kids cocktail hour. I'm headed to another event there in August where they plan to use the outdoor space for cocktail hour and I hear river boat rides are even an option. Super cool! I'm sure they have lots of catering options to choose from, but this particular party used limelight and i thought the food was better than the average bar mitzvah/wedding. I would definitely consider this venue for an event. I don't love planning downtown events due to the long drive from the suburbs, but since this wasn't as far it took us about 45 minutes to get there from Glencoe on a Sat evening and then another 25 minutes home later that evening.

Adam thoroughly answered all of our questions, gave us guidance for vendors, and provided the highest level of customer service throughout our event planning and execution phases. The venue is amazing as it has beautiful views of the Chicago River and a great vibe with how they decorated the space. We had 200 guests attend our 80's Prom themed fundraiser. The venue layout is perfect for designing a cool themed event and it's super spacious with plenty of room both inside and outside on the patio deck overlooking the river. We chose the REC because we wanted as all-inclusive of an experience as possible, and that was exactly what we got. They handled the food (we paid for them to do desserts as well), all dinnerware/tables/chairs, staff, decor setup, cleanup, and non-alcoholic beverages (including three different mocktail options), and having Maria meant we weren't in need of a wedding or day-of coordinator. We held our event in the atrium and loft and it was the perfect size for our 150 guests. The food was delicious, the schedule was on track, and the space was breathtaking during a snowstorm.
